    Hi siggiboy81,

That sounds like an interesting idea but I’m afraid we have to leave customizations like this one in your own capable hands. If you have any specific questions along the way where we might be able to point you in the right dirction definitely feel free to ask, of course.

    Thanks!

    Hi ripanti,

Translations are very much a community effort and we’d be only too happy to make any corrections that might be necessary. If you want to get in touch with Leah, who collates translations, please email her at:

    Hi Enollo,

It sounds like you’re doing some interesting work here – and it’s always great to hear about things like this being built on top of The Events Calendar šŸ™‚

You’re quite correct however that the forum currently doesn’t do a great job of handling posted code – so we’d generally recommend that, at least until we can add a better system for dealing with code, you use a service like Pastebin or Gist and simply drop the link to your snippet in here.

I was shocked to find that query_posts is being used and the only filter I am able to use is on the response itself. I would love a filter on the $query_args array so that I can add my custom taxonomy when required.

A number of filters and actions are implemented by the WP_Query object itself and so there should be scope to manipulate things here, even if the arguments passed in via query_posts() (within TribeEvents::calendar_ajax_call() ) are not directly filterable.

Is there a way to disable ajax completely? I think that would be a temporary solution until I figure out how to pass in the correct query vars to the ajax call.

You could try selectively dequeuing the relevant scripts that add ajax capabilities – but do take care in case that also removes other functionality. An alternative could be to use a script of your own to trap certain events and stop their onward propagation.

You’re right that there is a very real limit on how much support we can offer for customizations and we definitely appreciate that can cause some amount of frustration at times. What I would say is, you’re very welcome to post tips and snippets right here in this forum (and others have certainly done the same) – a specific Tips and Tricks forum is definitely a good idea and we’d welcome feature requests for this sort of thing just as much as we do for the software itself:

Can you provide a URL where we can see this behaviour (the URL you provided when you created this thread seems to lead to a holding page). Thanks!

What I’d try in the first instance though is flushing the permalink/rewrite rules, just by visiting the Settings → Permalinks admin screen. However, it does rather sound like the problem boils down to a theme conflict, based on what you’re telling us. Can you provide any insight as to what your theme is and who wrote it?

I’m listing events from multiple locations and would love to have the list under the map be the list of the venues rather than events. Is this possible?

Definitely possible – but of course that’s not what the map view is currently designed to do, so you’d need to make this happen by means of some custom development work (and we’d certainly be open to any feature request you might make along these lines šŸ™‚ ).

Also, is there a reason the name of the organization does not appear on the mouseover popup on the map?

Simply as a matter of style – we had to choose a reasonable amount of information to show in that situation and this is what we came up with šŸ™‚

Of course, here again feature requests are welcome. Thanks!

I visited your site, changed the date via the datepicker to Nov 2014 and hit “Find Events” – the content of the view correctly updated to show events in or after Nov 2014 only: can you confirm if that’s different from your own experience?

I’m afraid a pattern like that is not “natively” supported. One option could be to create two different recurring events with the same name and details, such that all applicable days are covered; another could be to set things up so that more days than you need are covered and then selectively delete instances (from the event editor).

We’re definitely open to suggestions about different recurring event patterns you’d like to see supported, though, if you want to make a feature request:

That sounds unusual. I see you tried deactivating all other plugins and switching to a default, unmodified theme – did that impact on the problem in any way?

    Thanks!

Hi Andreas – you should find you are able to edit the slugs just as you can when editing regular WordPress posts šŸ™‚

    Hi Aurelio!

I suspect this may be a peculiarity of your theme. A quick way to test this theory would be to switch to a default theme like Twenty Twelve and check to see if the title tags are populated. Assuming that’s the case it may be worth touching base with the theme author and asking about how the title tag is populated (does it use wp_title() and does the theme apply any wp_title filters of its own that might be tripping things up here?).

If changing the theme doesn’t help just let me know – the next thing to look at at that point of course would be your stack of plugins, with SEO-type plugins being obvious candidates to try deactivating in the first instance.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi Eric,

This is a bug that seems to have just cropped up and we’re treating this as a high priority item. Please bear with us and we should see this being resolved shortly in an upcoming maintenance release.

    Thanks!

I’m sorry but we can’t make entire conversations private (and have removed your login credentials šŸ™‚ ).

Whatever the problem is here it seems it is specific to your installation of WordPress / your hosting environment. I think the next step would be to install a fresh copy of WordPress, then add only The Events Calendar, Facebook Events and Events Calendar PRO and see if the same problem manifests itself.

If it the same problem does continue to happen under those conditions then that tends to suggest there is some sort of environmental issue (and so it would be great to learn what hosting package you are using).

    Thanks!

Though we can indeed see this on our own demo site the answer isn’t proving too easy to find – both your site and WP Shindig appear to be exceptions to normal operation – but, once again, do bear with us as we’re actively looking into this.

    No problem!

I just checked in and this is still being progressed (and so it may be we need to wait for it to be resolved in a future maintenance release) but we’ll definitely keep you posted either way.
