MemberOh I see, you mean the event time and date settings in the admin environment (where you create and edit events)? If so I’m afraid that no, they do not support the date and time formatting as defined in WordPress settings.
Please do consider making a feature request or adding your support to a suitable existing request, however: http://tribe.uservoice.com.
Thanks!

MemberHi Alexander,
Sorry to hear you were hitting difficulties – but I’m glad you got the primary issues sorted.
Any way to get rid of the oddly placed options at the top?
I’m not quite sure what you mean, can you be a little more specific?
Thanks!

MemberHi mikeinsc,
We do now ship a CSV importer tool as part of the plugin – so if you can pull the data out in that format or perhaps in some other format and then transform it – you could certainly leverage the importer to do the rest.
Does that help here?
Barry
MemberThanks! However, I’m still a little unclear as to what you are expecting here. In your opening post you wrote:
I have changed the general settings to 24-hour format and DD/MMMM/YYYY
When I visited the URL you provided I see the mini calendar output and that the dates are formatted like this one: 22. januar 2014. However, that also seems to be the date format used by your posts (here’s a date from one of the blog posts I noticed at the same UR:: 21. januar 2014).
Basically, it all seems to be in order. Can you confirm if I’m missing something and detail what you are trying to achieve? DD/MMMM/YYYY is a little ambiguous – do you actually want forward slashes in there, like 01/januar/2014?
Thanks!
Barry
MemberWell, based on what you’re telling me it sounds like it modifies the rewrite rules – which, essentially, dictate how URLs are interpreted – to achieve its goals (but doesn’t necessarily clean them up when its deactivated, which isn’t uncommon) and that perhaps it also adds rules which are both general enough and execute early enough that they to stop our own rules from being observed.
Realistically we can’t guarantee compatibility with all third party plugins: this one seems to have attracted a reasonable following but by no means a large following in the scheme of things and additionally seems to have been abandoned:
This plugin hasn’t been updated in over 2 years. It may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress.
With that in mind I don’t think we are going to be able to allocate resources toward improving compatibility with this plugin and would suggest instead finding an actively supported and developed plugin with whatever capabilities you need here or else working with a suitable developer to resolve the issues specifically to meet your needs.
Sorry we can’t offer more for this one.

MemberCan you provide a URL where I can see the date in question just in case we’re getting our wires crossed? I did try following the URL you provided when you opened the thread however it doesn’t seem to lead to an active site.

MemberTry setting up and adding it to your pro/tribe-events-pro.css stylesheet (see the Themer’s Guide for details). Does that help here?

MemberHi @materdeiknights!
I’m afraid we can’t help a great deal with customization requests like this one and a good working knowledge of WordPress development is going to be necessary for this sort of task.
Essentially though some of our own query logic runs during WordPress’s pre_get_posts action. Once this has completed our own tribe_events_pre_get_posts action fires – so you have a choice of using either of those hooks to further tweak things before the query runs (the first being more general purpose and the second specific to event-related queries).
In this case for instance you might want to modfy the post_type query var. This is just one possible avenue of course and there would be other ways to approach this and indeed other details to iron out if you choose this method. However, we’ll really need to leave the rest to you.
Good luck!
Barry
MemberFollowing up here, something like this snippet – which could be added to your theme’s functions.php file – might help out until a substantive fix arrives (you might need to tweak a little especially if you have other category-centric customizations in place).

MemberHi @materdeiknights,
I’m really sorry for the continued inconvenience this has caused you, it’s something that we unfortunately have not been able to prioritize thus far but we’re certainly interested in changing that based on your feedback.
Since the thread was marked as “resolved” I cannot re-open it, but this item is still NOT fixed.
Again we’re sorry for any confusion here – but we tend not to let threads sit open for long periods of time simply because experience suggests they are ultimately susceptible to being hijacked and derailed by other users – who with the best intention can interject but unwittingly confuse matters – making it harder for other users who might be searching for this topic but are presented with a confusing and mixed topic thread.
That to say, the fact that it is closed to replies does not mean the basic issue you reported is itself resolved – and I’m sorry if that wasn’t clear. Similarly, the reply marked as an answer in that thread was simply the most accurate answer at that point in time – in this case, that we’ve logged it for further work, which remains true.
@rcneil: you’re right it’s not consistent and I can really only reiterate that this is something we have on our issue tracker. It hasn’t been the very highest priority simply because issues more pivotal to the operation of the calendar have had to be resolved first. Please don’t take that to mean that this isn’t something we have no interest in fixing – far from it – but we don’t have unbounded resources and need to carefully schedule and order enhancements and bug fixes in the best interest of the wider community.
I’m sorry, but I can’t believe that after the 3rd edition of this plugin there is no way to call the calendar and pass arguments through a PHP function. It’s bad enough you have to write a custom WP_Query just to retrieve the data.
I’m not really sure what you mean here or why writing a custom WP_Query would be ‘bad’ by comparison with passing arguments through a function (though we do have tribe_get_events() available for your use), but in any case suspect it’s getting somewhat off-topic from what @materdeiknights was posting about.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on how we could better facilitate custom development, though, so if you want to propose new API functions or anything of that order please do post your thoughts on our UserVoice page and we’ll definitely look into it.
I hope that gives a little insight into our processes here and please also note we have now upped the priority for this issue (sub-categories not being included in category requests, that is).
Thanks!

MemberWere not able to use the pro functionality. It always repeats us to the tri.be site where we should buy the plugin. But we buyed it and put the licence key in it.
So I’m slightly confused here.
You have installed and activated Events Calendar PRO, and you have entered your license key. Do you mean that it is not accepting the license key/saying it is invalid? Or something else?
If you could share a screenshot (via Dropbox or a similar service, or upload it to your WordPress blog and share a link to it) that could be helpful here.
Please do note that if Events Calendar PRO is activated then, even if the license key is not valid/hasn’t registered, it will still work without any problems. Operationally, the only side effect would be that you cannot benefit from automated updates.
Let me know if that clarifies things or else if you can provide a little more details about the problem that would be great.
Thanks!
Barry
MemberOK, but it would be a shame if you lost data even if only a small amount.
Generally speaking if you need to re-install you can make use of a site maintenance plugin (to stop casual visitors from accidentally disrupting things – though this isn’t always necessary), then delete the existing plugin and upload a fresh copy.
The older version of course doesn’t line up with the basic events calendar.
Right – you do need to ensure the correct versions are paired up with one another (ie, The Events Calendar 3.2 and Events Calendar PRO 3.2, if those are the versions you wish to use). Certainly if you couldn’t find the file I referenced it sounds like either something went wrong when it was initially uploaded or else it was the incorrect version.
Good luck – let us know how you get on or if you need further help here 🙂
Barry
MemberWe’ll help if we can 🙂
Just to be clear, though, that is really a completely different problem than what you initially reported. It looks like your theme is trying to transform the main events view into an excerpt – which results in it A) being shortened and B) all mark-up that gives it structure being stripped out.
This is a known issue with a few themes/theme frameworks and over on the right in the Useful Code Snippets list we’ve got a solution for just this problem – Fixing a Garbled Main Events Page. The focus of that solution is on Canvas (by WooThemes) and Genesis (by StudioPress) – the actual solution may be different in your case if you are using a different theme produced by some other vendor, but take a look and see if that helps 🙂
And the sidebar widget is not showing any month selectors.
Upon update from earlier versions to the current version you may find the calendar widget is replaced with the regular WordPress calendar widget (which is the widget I see in your sidebar) so this could be as simple as making a change in the Appearance → Widgets admin screen – if that doesn’t solve this though can I ask you to break this particular issue out into a separate thread?
Thanks – I’m sure we can get things on track here – let me know how it goes with the garbled events page fix 🙂

MemberGreat catch, I hadn’t noticed that. Can you try this slight different snippet instead? Thanks!
Barry
MemberHi!
A good position would be below the opening
<?phptag but above the first line of existing code. If you still hit problems, share a copy of your functions.php code showing what you have tried and we’ll see if any obvious problems jump out (please share code using a service like Pastebin or Gist, however, rather than posting it directly in the forum). Thanks!
