MemberI’ll go ahead and close this thread as it looks like my last reply was marked as the answer – but if we can help with anything else, once again, please feel free to open new threads as needed – thanks!
(We won’t monitor this thread for any further replies.)

MemberHi – great questions!
It seems that the standard functionality is that The Events Calendar will grab a page template but wonβt actually grab the custom field data or content from a page set up in the WordPress back-end that has the same slug as that set for the βEvents URL slugβ.
Right – and this is expected/intentional behaviour. Lots of objects from custom posts to taxonomy terms may happen to share the same slug – but when it comes to events pages, this is merely a “pathway” – it has no relationship with existing pages, etc.
Is there a way to embed the full events calendar functionality into a page template that is used by a page managed in the back end? If not is there someone that can help create this please??
It’s definitely possible, but it’s a fairly advanced customization and what I recommend instead is working around the existing events page. You can override and customize any of our templates – please see our Themer’s Guide to learn how – and could for example conditionally add content above and below the month view and month view only.
Similarly, though not officially supported, there is a plugin which lets you add the main events page to the front page of your blog and/or embed events arbitrarily in any given post – which might offer you a way to achieve your goal.
I would also like to have links at the bottom of the calendar for our facebook and such β is that doable? Is there a way to add those?
There definitely is!
If you visit the Events > Settings > Display admin screen you should find a field that lets you add content above or below the events pages. That apart, please note that typically we try hard to stick to one issue per topic, so if you need further help with this (or anything other than the initial question) please do create a new thread and one of the team will be only too happy to help π
Thanks!

MemberNo problem!
The difference though is that in the original template we use:
data-day-abbr="<?php echo $wp_locale->get_weekday_abbrev( $day ); ?>"Whereas in the modified version we use:
data-day-abbr="<?php echo $day ?>"Please note I’ll be off duty for the next day or so, but I hope this clarifies things and if you need further help I’ll be happy to do what I can once I’m back π

MemberOK. That tends to suggest to me that the plugin is unable to communicate with Google’s Map/Geolocation API.
It sounds like you’re unlikely to have exceeded any query limits … but I wonder if other sites on the same server may have done so. Can you tell me any details about your hosting plan – is it shared hosting? Who is the provider and what is the package?
Do you by any chance have an alternative hosting account with another provider where you can run a test? I appreciate you may not, but if you do it could make for an interesting test.
My thinking is this: we do know that generally this functionality works and the exceptions have been where addresses were malformed, sites exceeded Google’s query limits (which could in fact be the problem here, if you’re in a shared hosting environment, even if your own site hasn’t generated too many queries by itself) or communication has otherwise been hindered – either by network issues or conflicts with other plugins/a theme.
That last point is definitely worth exploring. I do see you tried deactivating all other themes already – but did you/can you now try repeating that and additionally deactivate your theme and switch to Twenty Thirteen or some other default theme and see if that resolves this?
Thanks!
Barry
MemberOK – thanks for sharing that.
Given what you’re describing, unless you’re hosting package is particularly low powered, I can’t think of a good reason why you would be experiencing these problems. Are you in a position to deactivate all other plugins (except for your Modern Tribe events plugins) and switch to a default, unmodified theme such as Twenty Thirteen?
Does the same problem persist under those conditions?
Barry
MemberNo problem: I’m sorry we couldn’t do more on this occasion but I hope you get there π
I’ll go ahead and close this thread – of course if you have any other questions regarding other issues please don’t hesitate to create new threads and one of the team will be only too happy to help.

MemberHi Barry. Thanks for your reply and double checking that. You are right. when i use twenty thirteen the calendar works ok. should i contact the theme developer about this?
That is definitely worthwhile. Can I ask what your theme is / who the author is, though, in case we have any notes that might help?
sorry! another quick question (should i start another support ticket?) my calendar will only display 3 events per day. i need to show more.. is this possible?
Generally it’s best to create a new thread – but if you look at the Events > Settings > Display admin screen you should find a setting that will help (“Month view events per day”) π
Please note I am travelling on Tuesday/Wednesday so there may be a slightly longer delay than normal before I can next reply.

Member<p style=”text-align: left;”>One thing of note is that the calendar admin shows 37,000 + events, while there are only 3300 events in the wp_posts table (via phpmyadmin). My guess is that these are the duplicate events that have been created by attempts to upgrade the calendar.</p>
That is far from impossible: can you checkout this blog post, grab a copy of the cleanup plugin it links to and see if that alleviates this?

MemberOK – so did you/was he able to see a coordinates metabox in the right hand side of the venue editor, or was that not present? If it was present what were the longitude and latitude values – blank?

MemberThat’s really the sort of custom dev question we need to leave to you to solve π
All sorts of things are possible, even if they are not facilitated “out of the box” – and though we are always open to new feature requests if you need to push ahead with something like this in the short term it’s really something you’d need to work through on your own (albeit, if you have any further specific questions and we can push you in the right direction we’ll be happy to do so).
Barry
MemberHmm, so just to be clear, are you overriding tribe-events/default-template.php with the code from your content template – or are you setting the content page template you created as default in Events > Settings > Display?

MemberHi! We always do remove credentials (though you’re correct, only team members and you can see your private replies) – but that is an extra manual step we take and as we don’t typically provide coverage on weekends I’m afraid that had to wait until today π
Can you confirm, though, that we have your permission to run through those troubleshooting steps – ie, we can deactivate plugins and switch the theme? My intention is not to scaremonger by any means, but we need clear confirmation as we cannot accept responsibility for any issues resulting from the troubleshooting process (and strongly advise making a complete backup).
Thanks!
