    Hey Stephen,

    Thanks for reaching out!

I’m really sorry about the import issues. Let me try to help you with this.

If I understand correctly you are trying to import data from another website that has The Events Calendar.

    Could you please share:

    • the url of the source website
    • the url of the feed that you are trying to import
    • 2-3 sample events that get pulled and 2-3 that do not get pulled

I would like to run some tests to see what’s happening.

    Thanks,
    Andras

    Hey Duncan,

    Thanks for reaching out!

There is no direct way of showing multiple categories, but I can offer some workarounds.

    • Use the Events List widget. There you can select the number of events you want to show and select the categories as well.
    •  You can create a parent category for the categories you want to show, and then reference that parent category.

For your second request, there is a setting under Events > Settings >  General tab > Recurring event instances. Does that do the trick you need?

    Cheers,
    Andras

Katie, I’m so happy to hear that helped! Awesome.

I would like to flag one thing, that just came to my mind. Summer time.

The ‘New York’ time in the WP settings takes DST into account and will handle that.

UTC however is a ‘fixed’ timezone which doesn’t care about DST. So in the summer New York is UTC – 4 hours, but in winter it is UTC – 5 hours. So that might influence the times that are shown on the website.

If this is / will be the case then you can try setting your WP timezone to UTC-4 instead of ‘New York’, and that should fix this.

Since this is resolved I am going to close this ticket, but if you need anything else related to this topic or another please create a new ticket and we’ll be happy to help you out.

    Cheers,
    Andras

    Hi Adam,

Thanks for checking and letting me know. I’m happy that we found the source of this glitch.

(No hard feelings, I also forget to empty the cache plenty of times. 😉 )

    Workaround suggestions:

    • a different plugin instead of post types order
    • a snippet for PTO so that it doesn’t take the ‘tribe_events’ post types into account

Hope this helps at least a bit.

Since this is resolved I am going to close this ticket, but if you need anything else related to this topic or another please create a new ticket and we’ll be happy to help.

    Hi Kaite,

Sorry to hear about that. Indeed that can be very annoying.

I just checked the test import I set up yesterday and there might be a solution. Here’s what I have:

    1. The events are imported with the UTC timezone. (screenshot)

    2. WordPress timezone set to New York. (screenshot)

    3. TEC timezone under Events > Settings >  General tab set to ‘sitewide’. (screenshot)

B/c of the last setting, all the event times will be shown what they would be in the New York timezone. So if an event is in UTC (point 1) it will be converted to the wp timezone.

And here is a screenshot of the end result showing it with the correct time on the frontend.

Check this and let me know if it works for you as well.

After changing some timezone settings then an ‘Update timezone info’ button might appear at the TEC timezone settings. Click on it.

If this doesn’t work then we can try to work out something else.

    Cheers,
    Andras

    Hi Nick,

Thanks for the thorough explanation. I have a better understanding now.

At the moment our plugins work in the way you described: moved, cancelled, deleted (through order or attendee) or refunded tickets are not removed from the sold variable.

I understand that this is confusing or not the behavior you would expect. This is something we are looking into refining.

I will definitely flag this now to my team-lead and will try to give it some push. Meanwhile I would like to ask yo to visit the below UserVoice page and cast your vote on the suggestion there which is exactly about this case:

    https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas/suggestions/15012864-do-not-include-deleted-tickets-or-cancelled-orders

I know it’s an extra task which can be time consuming, but it is possible to manually adjust this value. You need to go to the WooCommerce product page of the ticket in question, go to the Custom Fields and adjust the value of the ‘total_sales’ custom field. Here’s a screenshot of that.

I’m sorry if this in not the answer you were hoping for. If you cast your vote – and if more and more people do – that will definitely elevate the priority of this topic.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with.

    Cheers,
    Andras

    Hey Rob,

At the moment I’m not sure where the issue lies, especially since the import is working for me without any issues. We need to check a couple of things.

    • Are the images present in your Media Library? Or they don’t even make it there?
    • Delete one event and remove it from the ignored list. Check if the image is 1) in your media library; 2) visible at your event
    • Deactivate all plugins except The Events Calendar and switch to twentyseventeen theme, and try the above step. (A custom code in the theme or a plugin can be interfering.)
    • set up a new site or testsite with only TEC and try the import. If it works, then add your theme and the other plugins. Remove the imported events and import them again, to see if it still works. (Sometimes there is a glitch stuck in a website which cannot be uncovered. In these cases a new install is the way to go.)

These are the next steps we need to take. Please keep me updated about your progress and I’ll let you know if anything else comes to my mind.

    Cheers,
    Andras

    Hi Ian,

Thanks for using our plugins and I’m really sorry to hear about your troubles with the update.

I can get you started on this, but here on the pre-sales forum, I’m afraid we do not provide technical support. I would ask that you take any technical support questions across to our wordpress.org forum – our staff scan it periodically and other community members may also be able to help out.

If you have purchased a plugin from us, please login and post in the premium forums for that plugin and we can help you out there.

When updating our plugins the data that is already saved in the database is not touched at all. You should be able to access all the data you had before. The only exception could be if you are updating from a very old version.

If the data is missing from the database then the only way to get it back is if you have a backup; either a backup created with a plugin or manually, or the backup your hosting provider creates (if it is part of your package). If you yourself don’t have a backup, then get in touch with them, they might be able to restore your site to an earlier state, to get your data back.

    I hope this helps!

    Cheers,
    Andras

    Hello Greg,

Thanks for reaching out to us and sharing your solution for this. This is really great!

We have a knowledgebase article about a connecting topic that handles WooCommerce ticket orders. You can find it here:

Is there anything else I can help you with before closing this down?

    Hello Angela,

I’m sorry to hear about your troubles with the button. I’d be happy to lend you a helping hand.

Thanks for going through our conflict testing guide, much appreciated! In the process, did you also manage to deactivate the MU plugins?

    MU PLUGINS
Endurance Browser Cache version 0.4 by Mike Hansen(https://www.mikehansen.me/)
Endurance Page Cache version 1.1 by Mike Hansen(https://www.mikehansen.me/)
SSO version 0.1 by Garth Mortensen, Mike Hansen

If not, it would be great if you did check that as well, to be sure that nothing interferes.

I would like to ask for 2 more things.

In Chrome open the Console. To do this press F12. Then switch to the ‘Console’ tab and start creating an event, with recurrence rules. Check if any error or warning messages appear in the console. If they do, please share them with me.

Can you also share the url of the other thread you mentioned? Might be helpful.

Thanks and looking forward to helping you solve this.

    Cheers,

    Hello again Katie,

I did some further digging and had a chat with a team member on this.

It looks like that the source of the feed doesn’t have a timezone defined, and all times are present in the UTC timezone.

    Here’s an example:

    SUMMARY:Classic Worship
    DTSTAMP:20171026T195339Z
    DTSTART:20170924T121500Z
    DTEND:20170924T131500Z

The ‘Z’ at the end marks that the date and time is in UTC format, which is 4 hours ahead of New York.

The proper formatting for New York would be something like this:

     DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20170924T081500
    DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20170924T091500

This is something that you will need to change at the source.

I hope this helps with the time difference issue.

    Andras
