Hey Tony: are you saying the filter is removed when you attempt to resort via a column header? If so, mind showing us a screenshot (similar to Jonah’s) of your settings in the advanced post manager there that lead to this? I’ll try to recreate on my end and can get logged with the devs as needed from there, should we have a bug here. Thanks in advance!

Glad to hear you’re all set here, Matt. Thanks for confirming as much. If you need anything else down the road don’t hesitate to let us know.

Hey Marc. We should be set here (and you’re cued in as to what’s what re: untranslatable strings) after our last email exchange, right? Let me know if not or if you still need anything else from me here. Cheers!

The first suggestions came from Ryan, over at this thread: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/release-eventbrite-tickets-1-0-1/. He had some good ideas. Specifically:

    1. “Ability to hide fields in the right-hand box in the Events List. (also, when leaving the country field blank/”Select Country”, it displays “Select Country” in the address on the front-end).”

This is an interesting idea. I assume he meant the event meta data that appears in list view ( ), but would you want this specific to Eventbrite events or for all events in the system?

    2. “In the same right-hand box, the text wraps funny, especially the address. It should read like a normal address.”

This one is generally template-specific; the template can be changed under Settings -> The Events Calendar, but we are aware that there are some additional options needed here…and are working to include those in the core Events plugin, hopefully 2.1.

    3. “Ability to hide fields on the individual Event page (especially “Event” since it’s a bit redundant with the name as the title of the post, “Last Updated”).”

This is a good idea. The “Updated” option, specifically, is required based on the SEO microformats we incorporated in 2.0 (and hiding it, while doable, will likely lead you to take a hit from an SEO standpoint). The rest of the options can be hidden via opening up the plugin files…but not everyone is going to feel comfortable doing that, and I can see your point that having this as an option for non-technical users would be wise. No guarantees but I am adding it to the list.

    4. “The event details at the top of the individual event post are forced into columns that only fill two-thirds of the space, forcing the details to take up more vertical space than necessary and leaving dead space on the right.”

This is another one that I think our improved templating structure (in core Events, rather than Eventbrite) will help address conflict.

    5. “Ability to move Eventbrite tickets above Event description (our descriptions can be lengthy and since people are not used to ordering tickets on our site yet, they may not see the ticket box).”

This is a good suggestion. I wonder if it’s doable via some light customization; at the very least I think it’s worth having Jonah put together a tutorial on (since my guess is the technology is already in place).

These are great ideas, Ryan, and we sincerely appreciate your feedback – both the words on the plugins we produce and your suggestions for improving them down the road. Since it’s obvious by your note that there is a demand for more functionality (and because we always like to have user feedback on what that functionality is), I’ve created a feature request thread here for Eventbrite: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/eventbrite-tickets-feature-requests/. I have posted your suggestions in there and engaged with them directly there. I had a few follow-up questions so feel free to elaborate on those if you find a minute.

Thanks again for the ideas and for your support. It’s folks like you that keep us going at this and we really do appreciate it.

Hey again Tai. This is a weird issue and I apologize for the inconvenience you’ve been faced with so far on this front. If I understand your issue correctly, you’re following these steps:

    1. Creating an event on Eventbrite.
    2. That event is imported, but never actually shows up on the WP side once the import is complete.
    3. Attempting to re-import after a disappearing import won’t work and gives the message you included in your first note.
    4. After re-publishing the event on EB (live -> draft -> live) it imports again.

Let me know if I misunderstood a certain step. Otherwise, I’m totally unable to recreate this on my end and wonder if it’s A) a matter of the imported event not showing up because it’s importing as draft; or B) something related to a recurrence pattern. Either of those possible? Remember that Eventbrite’s API doesn’t allow for recurring events, so if you set up a recurrence pattern on their site and try to import it to WordPress…it’ll just convert to a standalone single event.

If neither of those are the culprit, it’d be awesome if you could send me the event ID for a given problematic event so I could try to recreate on my end. Thanks in advance!

Hey Tai. Thanks for the note here. Not yet on this one, but it is on the radar…we are still pretty early in this plugin’s lifecycle but I can definitely see the need for a bulk importer. And in fact, it’s something we’ve always wanted but didn’t have time to include for the initial release.

No guarantees as to the timetable here…but it is on the radar. In the interim you’ll unfortunately need to rely on individual imports. Hope that helps and please let me know if I can do anything else here.

Hey Mike. Thanks for the note and for explaining what you’re working with here. Two bits of documentation that might be of value to you, before we go any further here. The first is this tutorial on how to completely customize widgets (https://theeventscalendar.com/how-to-completely-customize-widgets/). The second is our Genesis integration guide (https://theeventscalendar.com/tutorial-integrating-the-events-calendar-w-genesis/), which seems it’d be useful since you’re on the same theme.

Want to give those (along with our themer’s guide, at https://theeventscalendar.com/themers-guide-to-the-events-calendar/) a go and let me know if you’re still stuck from there?

Hey there Fatima. I’d be interested to hear what other members of the community come back with on this; in the interim, you may want to check the Epic Era forum to see if anyone on there has mentioned use with The Events Calendar/Events Calendar PRO. If I see anyone referencing it either here or on the WordPress.org forum, I’ll try to remember to come note it here too. Good luck!

Fantastic to hear this did the trick for you, Jeff. That’s wonderful news.

Torstein: you rock! Thanks so much for the assist. Sounds like we’re all set with this issue so I’m going to close it out; but if anyone needs anything else along these lines, please open a new thread and we’ll assist as best we can.

Hey Tony: my guess is that, since Jonah is the most dev-savvy among the three of us (Jonah, Joyce & myself)…his last note is probably the most we’re going to be able to offer up on this. Is it possible there’s a step that was missed, since Jonah’s instructions do seem to be working when tested on our end?

Sorry we couldn’t offer up more here.

Hey Nicholas. Thanks for the note here. This is a solid topic and I’ve indeed marked it as “Sticky” so other users can contribute their thoughts as they go. I know there are a lot of folks using Jetpack, which from what I’ve seen works pretty well with TEC right out of the box.

Will add others as they come to mind, and it’ll be interesting to see what the rest of the community can offer up as well. Thanks for getting this discussion going.

Just a heads up, Jen, that as of this past week I need to sadly say that I was wrong in my last note; while this was on the docket for 2.0.8, we got a critical issue that arose and required us to shift our dev focus elsewhere – as a result this is still not-quite-completed and won’t be in the release when it comes tomorrow. However, I am all but positive we’ll have it in place for the August release in a few weeks. My apologies for letting you guys down in this regard.
