MemberThanks for the follow-ups, Alexis & Caroline.
Alexis: yes, that message you’re seeing is the new one that exists to replace the more confusing message that was in place previously. My note on the Licenses tab was a bit unclear: you don’t need to look for Check Again there; but you do need to hit the tab before attempting to Check Again. So: go to Events –> Settings; hit the licenses tab; save the licenses tab; then go back to Dashboard –> Updates and hit check again. Make sure that you’ve cleared your browser cache before doing this.
Caroline: thanks, I think I’ve figured this out. Can you clear your browser cache and try this once more, to confirm whether or not my fix worked? Thanks!

MemberWow, it has been quite a while since I checked this thread last. These are all solid suggestions guys – while I won’t address each of them individually here, what wasn’t already logged in our projects system based on the ideas these past few months should pretty much all be in now. Obviously we won’t be able to do all of these things – but we hear your voices and will do our best to craft the plugin based on what the community needs. Thanks to each of you for helping us define that.
Since we’ve got a lot of great ideas in here, and since this discussion is pretty full of ideas that it’d take us years to execute in full, I’m going to make an executive decision and close this thread out for now. Our next major push (outside the monthly maintenance releases) is 2.1. Once we’ve got our intended feature set pretty well defined for that build, I’ll post a sticky thread here on the forum noting what we’re planning and allowing you guys to have a say in what’s most important to you. Stay tuned.

MemberThanks for the follow-up, Jim, and for confirming as much. It sounds like based on your note you’re all set here now…right? Let me know if not and if you need anything else from us here. Otherwise I’ll close out this thread upon your confirmation. Cheers!
Rob
MemberHey Max. Thanks for the note here; are you running 2.0.8? The ability to do what you’re requesting here was added in the 2.0.7 codebase and should already exist as you want it. Let me know if I’ve misunderstood the issue here, though.

MemberThanks for confirming, Ethan. Makes sense and duly noted on our end. Let me know if you need anything else down the road – and thanks for your words on the plugin, too. We appreciate your support and that you’re using it for projects 🙂

MemberHi folks: thanks for the follow-ups here. To address your points…
Caroline: Thanks for the tip here. Not sure what’s up there, since that was working in our pre-launch testing and works fine if I copy it and paste to my URL bar (or click the link you provided specifically). It seems to be a problem directly with accessing it from that widget but I’ve asked our dev Paul to take another look and make sure that gets fixed for 2.0.9 when it comes early next month. Apologies for the inconvenience in the interim on that end.
Andy: I hope the new placement (now that, per your second note, you found it) is to your liking. We actually moved that based on our last usability test, in which all 3 of our “new” users who’d never played around with the plugin before couldn’t find it down in the broader “Settings” panel. Interested in hearing your feedback.
Alexis: we have heard a few reports of this and are looking into what caused it for the next release (as it doesn’t seem to be happening to everyone and I was the only person on the team to experience it personally). You should be able to bypass this by going to Dashboard –> Updates and hitting “Check Again.” If that doesn’t do the trick, can you try going to the “Licenses” tab (in Events –> Settings) and then attempting the “Check Again” method from there? No need to change anything on the licenses page; just save it and try again. If you’re still having problems from there let me know and I’ll do what I can.

MemberGlad to hear you got this resolved, Blake. Thanks for confirming as much – sounds like you’re all set here, but please let us know if you need anything else down the road. Thanks, too, for your support so far!

MemberHi Lauren. Thanks for the follow-up; Joyce is out for the next week or so, and as a result I wanted to step in and help get this resolved for you. My apologies for your inconvenience so far.
On my end, with The Events Calendar 2.0.8 + Events Calendar PRO 2.0.8, I was unable to recreate this. Here’s what I did:
1. Set up an event for tomorrow, July 19 (Thursday).
2. Set that to recur every Thursday until the same approximate week 2 years from tomorrow.
3. Upon publishing and the page updating, my permalink for the first event in the series was as follows: http://localhost/robssite/event/rob-sets-a-recurring-event/2012-07-19.
4. When I update (say, the description) for that entry and update, the permalink remains the same: http://localhost/robssite/event/rob-sets-a-recurring-event/2012-07-19.. When I click the “View” button it takes me through to the frontend as expected. How are you doing step 4? After saving a change to a given entry, it should refresh and dump you back into the same entry. Is it doing something different for you, ie redirecting you back to the broader admin list? Let me know if so and I’ll try to provide some additional steps to troubleshoot.
Thanks for your patience.

MemberHey Anthony: sorry about the comment notification issue. We actually have a fix waiting to be released for this, and I’ve followed up with the website dev team to try and get this pushed this week.
I’ll let Jonah respond as to whether he thinks the old site approach is still worthwhile.
Regarding the importer: I actually just spent a bit of time today working on that plugin. It’s a tad delayed (since the dev working on it stepped away for a few weeks after his wife just had a baby), but the good news there is that our beta is running a bit longer. If you want to give the code a shot I’m happy to get it in your hands in lieu of an official release. Let me know via email – rob /a tri.be.
Cheers!

MemberHey Michelle. Glad to hear the core issue here is resolved. As to your second; have you tried switching to a different template under Events –> Settings, in the template tab? The plugin comes with a couple and your theme may bring in its own, and that is the first place to start. We can try to help guide you if it requires something more than that, though.
The calendar widget was designed as something intentionally bare bones when we released the 2.0 version of the plugin, as we’d gotten a lot of requests for it. We’re gradually tweaking it (the inclusion of the next/previous month links are an example of that) but unfortunately we’ve got limited bandwidth on the development front and have improvements to the broader core plugin’s stability that need to be resolved before we can modify that much further.
You should be able to select a given entry from the mini-calendar, but it doesn’t support links to single day view at this point. What do you mean by “change the day in the event list” display? Not sure I understand here but it’d be interested in seeing what you’re trying to accomplish so I can try to advise accordingly.
Thanks!
Rob
MemberDamian: there admittedly isn’t much on that front, but we have seen value in it from folks like yourself and I think we’re going to get something along those lines up. In the interim you may want to post a thread here just saying what you’re looking for and seeing if other users can respond.
Hope that helps and sorry I couldn’t offer up more. Let me know what else you need.
Rob
MemberThanks for confirming as much, Joe. Sorry to hear you took a different route here but I’m glad you found a solution that meets your needs. I’ve also added those plugins to our list of known conflicts internally that we’re gradually working to resolve. No guarantees (as some of these problems are outside our control) but it’s good to know of conflicts so we can plan for them and guide users accordingly.
As always, please let me know if you need anything else here.
Rob
MemberHey Joe. Thanks for confirming; indeed, unfortunately integration with certain themes is going to require a bit of modification to ensure fonts, sizes etc all carry over. The good news is it should be pretty straightforward within that file based on how it is laid out…but definitely let me know if you get stuck or have questions and we can try to guide you.
Thanks again for your support and please let me know if you have other questions here.

MemberHey Ethan. We don’t have a button for it in the broader list, but doesn’t the iCal file fulfill the same purpose? You should be able to add that file into Google Calendar as well.
Also, just an FYI, we have had a few requests for a dedicated Google Calendar button back on the list and have it slated for the 2.1 lifecycle. Let me know if the iCal file won’t do the trick in the interim and thanks for your support so far.
Rob
MemberFantastic to hear, Ross. Thanks for confirming as much – and for your use of the plugin. If you need anything else down the road just give us a shout.
