September 10, 2012 at 1:10 pm in reply to: Is upgrade from The Event Calendar to The Event Calendar Pro seemless? #24775
Rob
MemberHey there Calvin. Thanks for the note here, and apologies that we’ve taken some time to get you a response…still working through the backlog of threads previously monitored by a team member who is no longer with us.
Given how the code base is set-up, it actually isn’t so much an upgrade as it is an extension. You won’t turn off The Events Calendar to boot up PRO; you’ll just install a second plugin, the PRO add-on, that you’ll activate on top of the free The Events Calendar. So long as you’re up-to-date with the current The Events Calendar release when you buy/update to PRO (the two need to have consistent version numbers; problems will arise if they’re out of sync) the process should be seamless. All of your events should remain in-tact as well.
Hope that helps. If you have any other questions, do let me know and I’ll get you a response as needed.

MemberHey folks. Thanks for the note here, and apologies that we’ve taken some time to get you a response – my colleague who was managing this forum is sadly no longer with us, so I’m taking over this week and catching up on what was missed. You can expect responses to come daily (during the work week, that is) from now on. But I appreciate your patience so far.
The core calendar itself should serve the purposes of both an art studio and a gym, in terms of merely showcasing events. Once you get into registration and submission there are more components at play. Tickets at this time can be sold using either the Eventbrite Tickets add-on (which requires you handle the tickets through Eventbrite) or our forthcoming WooTickets add-on, which integrates with WooCommerce and can keep the entire purchase limited to the site. (That add-on will be out in the fall).
Certain aspects beyond that are outside the scope of what we can author. In Jonathan’s use case, for example, the account registration / loading up credits / getting a payment discount wouldn’t be handled by the plugin – though you could probably build or find a third-party solution on that end. On Karen’s situation, registration would be doable insofar as one of the aforementioned ticketing add-ons met your needs. (We’ve had requests for an RSVP-centric plugin and will likely be building one at some point, but that is not on the immediate roadmap).
Hope that helps. If it didn’t, please let me know and I’ll adjust my response to get you what you need. Thanks again for your interest.
September 10, 2012 at 12:56 pm in reply to: Is it possible to integrate multiple Post Types into Events Calendar Pro? #24773Rob
MemberHey Tony. Thanks for reaching out here, and for your interest in Events Calendar PRO. My apologies for taking some time to get you a response…the colleague of mine who was managing this forum is sadly no longer with us, so I’m just today catching up on what was missed since her departure.
Sounds like what you’re going for here might require some advanced customization, if you aren’t willing to just let those posts created as “Events” feed into the calendar. Note that the plugin does allow you to segment out events by category…so maybe that could help? Otherwise, if you were going to tie custom post types into Events…it’d probably be a somewhat complex task. Our team could guide you on this best we could, but it’s not something we’d realistically be able to provide step-by-step instructions on.
Hope this helps and sorry I couldn’t offer up more. If you have further questions, please do let me know and I’ll get you a response with haste.

MemberHi Patrick. Thanks for the note here, and my apologies for taking some time to get you a response…the colleague of mine who I’d handed the reigns on this forum over to is no longer with us, so I’m just today catching up on what was missed since her departure.
Just tested out for your question on the calendar widget, and it looks like it can display 7 events without issue: http://d.pr/i/4vjF. The list should just keep growing as events are added to it, making the box larger along the way. The calendar widget does have next/previous month links (http://d.pr/i/C6nI) that allow you to view events in the future/past as you see fit.
That help? Let me know if not and I’ll get you what you need. Really appreciate your patience so far. We’re back on the forums daily starting today so I’ll be checking this thread continually until I know we’ve gotten you the answer you need.

If you’re using just the core Events/Events PRO code, you are limited to 1 level of pricing for the event. If you were selling tickets through Eventbrite, though, via the Eventbrite Tickets add-on…you would have the option to set a different price tier per ticket.
Hope that helps. If not, please let me know and I’ll update my response to get you what you need.

Our plugin totally supports internationalized/translated sites, and looking through our records I see that we actually do have a Hebrew translation for The Events Calendar & Events Calendar PRO. While I cannot speak to the quality of the translations themselves (I didn’t create them and don’t speak Hebrew; we rely on translations to be provided by members of the community) they are indeed present.
Hope that helps. If you have any further questions on this end, do let me know and I’ll get you what you need.

We’ve actually got a patch that should clear up a permalink issue with Yoast (that another user reported was messing up her SEO) coming in the 2.0.9 build that is launching this week. If you guys are down, would you be willing to give the update a shot and let us know if the issue persists from there? If it does, can we move this discussion over from the pre-sale questions forum to the Events-specific one (as it at that point isn’t really a pre-sale question any longer)? Thanks in advance!
September 10, 2012 at 12:38 pm in reply to: Recurring Events Question: Multiple Dates and Times #24768Rob
MemberHi Josh. Thanks for your note here, and my apologies for the delay in getting you a response. The colleague of mine who was previously managing this forum is unfortunately no longer with us, and we’re just today getting caught up on the threads she was owning. I’m happy to take point on this for you going forward and will be checking back here daily to ensure I get you a response in as timely a fashion as possible.
In terms of how custom recurrence behaves, did you ever see this blog post we put out on it (https://theeventscalendar.com/pro-2-0-a-detailed-look-at-custom-recurrence/)? That may be a good starting point. The biggest element of your request that I see problematic is having multiple times / having an event repeat twice in the same day; usually recurrence is limited to 1x a day, and so you may have to either create those Tuesday entries as one event (specifically noting in the description that there are two showtimes), or one of them will have to live outside of the broader recurrence pattern. Selecting Monday/Tuesday/Friday, the first week of the month, should be doable as a custom option though.
That help? Let me know if not, and I’ll do what I can to get a more appropriate response. Thanks for your patience so far.

MemberHi Norbert! Thanks for your note here, and my sincere apologies for the delay in getting you a response. My colleague who was monitoring this forum is unfortunately no longer on the team, and as a result we’re just today getting caught up on the threads she was handling. I’ll be hitting this thread on a daily basis from now going forward, though, to ensure we get you future responses in as timely a fashion as possible. I really appreciate your patience so far.
At this point, the calendar does not include a broader map to show all events occurring either today or upcoming; maps are limited to the individual events and to the frontend venue pages (which list all upcoming events at a given venue beneath a map of that venue’s location). That’d probably be the best you could do; in terms of a site-wide, all-events map…we have had a lot of requests for it and will probably be incorporating something along these lines down the road, but it’s sadly not in the immediate roadmap.
Hope that helps and sorry I couldn’t offer up more. If you have further questions please do let me know, and I’ll do what I can to assist.
September 10, 2012 at 12:29 pm in reply to: iCal import and export; calendars on multiple sites #24766Rob
MemberHi there NetMagic. Thanks for the note here, and my apologies that we’ve taken some time to get you a response – Joyce, who was previously managing this thread, is unfortunately no longer with us. I’m happy to take point on this for you going forward and will be checking back here daily to ensure I get you a response in as timely a fashion as possible.
The current PRO release is indeed compatible with iCal. However, the only way to easily export from site 1 to site 2 – unless you have some 3rd party plugin that can duplicate events via an iCal file – would be to use the basic RSS feeds that are generated at /events/upcoming/feed. That isn’t the most efficient or effective method, though, so you may better suited just duplicating the entries manually. We’ve also got a CSV-based importer that is currently in beta stages, but I’d be happy to let you play around with if you thought it might help…let me know if you’re interested. Thanks for your patience so far!

It looks like you’ve had some time since posting your solution to test out the results of that code; are you encountering any issues with it? Is there anything else you need us to provide guidance on? Let me know and we’ll follow-up as needed. Thanks again for your patience so far.

MemberHey there Ben. (We’ll be hitting this forum again on a daily basis starting today, so if you post any follow-ups we’ll get you a response with haste).
We actually didn’t launch Events 2.0 until November of 2011, and I see that WordPress 3.0 launched back in June 2010. As a result it’s quite likely that even the first 2.0 release would give you problems on that build of WordPress. Did you ever have Events Calendar PRO 1.x? The last version we ended on before launching 2.0 was 1.3.3, which I’d be happy to send you for free if you wanted to use it. (Just know that we unfortunately will not be able to provide any support on it).
If you want to take that route, shoot me an email (pro /a/ tri.be) with a link to this thread and we’ll get you what you need. Cheers and thanks for your patience so far.
September 10, 2012 at 12:22 pm in reply to: Does the FB Events plugin allow export of events TO FB? #24763Rob
MemberHey Erin. Thanks for the note here, and my apologies for the delay in getting you a response – Joyce who posted the thread above initially is unfortunately no longer with us.
We definitely want to incorporate the ability to send events back to Facebook; we don’t have plans for it in the immediate future but it is certainly the end goal. (Building that architecture is unfortunately far more complex than building the export architecture, so we wanted to go ahead and get the FB -> WP approach out there first and foremost.
Hope that helps and sorry I couldn’t offer up more. If you have further questions please do let me know.

MemberHey Kevin. Thanks for the follow-up, and my apologies for the delay in getting you a response – the person who was monitoring this forum is unfortunately no longer with us, and we’re just now catching up on the threads missed since her departure. We’ll be addressing issues here on a daily basis once again starting today.
At this point, you are correct that there isn’t really a way of blocking access to the calendar based on specific user roles. But using one of those third-party role manager plugins should allow you to accomplish this; I know we’ve had users who have done this themselves and they usually are able to get 1 step closer to their end goal. Have you tried it on the core/free The Events Calendar plugin? What works there will work on PRO (and vice versa), so you could give it a shot without actually having to buy anything if you wanted. Let me know and thanks again for your patience so far.
September 10, 2012 at 12:18 pm in reply to: Is the Pro or Regular version 'downloadable' to website visitors? #24759Rob
MemberHi there Michelle. Thanks for reaching out on this, and my apologies for the delay in getting you a response – the person who was monitoring this forum is unfortunately no longer with us, and we’re just now catching up on the threads missed since her departure.
Depending on your client’s definition of “downloadable,” this could be doable – the PRO plugin gives you the option to export to both iCal and Google Calendar, which would allow the user to have the entire calendar from a given point at a location separate than the website at which those events were created. Might that serve the purpose or have I misunderstood your request here?
Let me know. We’ll be monitoring this forum again on a daily basis starting this week, so if you post a follow-up we’ll make sure to get you a response with haste. Thanks again for your interest so far.
