    Hi,
Do any of these plugins allow the creation of private calendars i.e where only logged in viewers or viewers of a certain group can be allowed to view certain events. E.G think of a school calendars that parents would subscribe too, they wouldn’t want public access to all their kids activities etc….

Hey Shaun. Thanks for the note, and for your interest. While there are other third-party plugins out there that can provide a blanket login solution for seeing specific pages of the site, if you wanted to use WordPress’ built in private/password protected functionality (as it exists on regular posts and pages)…that also carries over to Events. Events are just a custom post type, so if private/password protected posts work for regular content in your scenario then it should also work for events.

That help? Let me know if not and I’ll adjust my response as needed. Thanks again for reaching out.

Hey, Rob. I have the same question as Shaun but I’m not sure your reply covered it. I’ve got a client who wants one (or all) of their calendars to only be visible to members who are logged in to the site. It sounds like the Event Calendar plugin doesn’t offer any way of making a calendar members-only, is that right?

There are at least a few plugins that let you alter the permissions that allow a particular role to see a custom post type. Do you know of any reasons (within your software) we couldn’t restrict that particular CPT so anonymous visitors couldn’t view the calendar content?

Hey Kevin. Thanks for the follow-up, and my apologies for the delay in getting you a response – the person who was monitoring this forum is unfortunately no longer with us, and we’re just now catching up on the threads missed since her departure. We’ll be addressing issues here on a daily basis once again starting today.

At this point, you are correct that there isn’t really a way of blocking access to the calendar based on specific user roles. But using one of those third-party role manager plugins should allow you to accomplish this; I know we’ve had users who have done this themselves and they usually are able to get 1 step closer to their end goal. Have you tried it on the core/free The Events Calendar plugin? What works there will work on PRO (and vice versa), so you could give it a shot without actually having to buy anything if you wanted. Let me know and thanks again for your patience so far.
