August 26, 2013 at 11:34 am in reply to: theme conflict Jquery failing on custom post type "tribe events"? #62826Rob
MemberHey folks. Thanks to both of you for the feedback here; I see that evossman is on Woo’s City Guide; what theme are you on, Timothy? Is it generally a fairly AJAX-heavy theme?
The reason I ask is: since we launched 3.0, we’ve noticed quite a few AJAX/JS-related issues reported; we’re finding that in those cases, unless the theme’s AJAX is well written, there are going to be problems. Our plugin relies heavily on AJAX; running on a theme that does the same adds another layer of complexity (as it’s mixing it with other AJAX systems). That said, a good developer has tons of custom events from our plugin to hook into, and we actually did design the system so that this mixing could occur.
Can you let me know if that might be the case here, or if the original theme reported here isn’t particularly AJAX-centric?

MemberHey again Jeataylor! Thanks for the follow-up here. This is a really good question…we are working towards a system of establishing a monthly/active list of “known bugs” now that 3.0 is out; and I suspect once we get the impending maintenance builds out the door, we’ll have that finally in place (for the next release). But at this point we don’t have a currently-active issue list beyond the “Useful Code Snippets” in the sidebar.
Sorry I couldn’t offer you more here. In the interim, know you can reach out to us (pro /a/ tri.be, or on Twitter as @moderntribeinc) to check if a bug is on the radar at any time.

MemberHey again onelittlemoose. Thanks for this; admittedly, it does sound like what you’re going for here is probably not something that’s super easily done out of the box. If my “hack” above doesn’t do the trick it does seem like TablePress might be a good route. I haven’t played around with it myself so I’m not sure of the specifics…but realistically it’d probably provide more flexibility.
Happy to have you on the beta list for the conference manager, whenever we pick it up again! Sorry I couldn’t offer you more of a solution until then though.

MemberHey again! I can try; I don’t have much familiarity with that service, but I assume you’ve got the Wysija plugin installed? If so I found this on their forum, which is a bit older but it does show the options for dropping a form in (not an icon, but the form itself) without use of a widget: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wysija-newsletters-how-do-i-insert-the-form-without-using-widget. It may help. If not you might want to ask the plugin author if they’ve got anything like that in the works. The other social icon plugins I’m seeing feature a lot of services, but Wysija isn’t among them unfortunately.

MemberThanks for the follow-up, Kevin. Yes; agreed. It does sound like the fix we’re working towards should address this for you. If it doesn’t…definitely let us know so we can take another look and get you sorted. From the looks if it you’d need to hack core plugin files to get this functional properly, which isn’t particularly advised (if there were a snippet I had handy to share I’d offer that up but unfortunately I do not).
Thanks a lot for your patience on this. As we’re trying to fit this one into the next release it should be very soon that it’s out.

MemberStill looking at this. We don’t yet have any real snippet-like solution that’s particularly graceful, but are checking out other options that might work. I’ll keep you posted.
