ParticipantHi,
Do you know how I can add an event to a Wysija newsletter? If not can you suggest a compatible plugin?
On a side note can you recommend a free plugin that provides functionality of emailing event information/invitations and providing recipients with options to select their attendance via a link. I couldn’t find anything but I am hoping there is something out there that I can easily integrate into our site, with the goal to monitor the number of people attending each event.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Regards,

MemberHey again James. You raise a good question here; while I don’t know of a solution that will automatically add an event to a custom newsletter, it’s worth noting that we do have a frontend event submission tool in the form of Community Events (https://theeventscalendar.com/shop/wordpress-community-events/). I know that other users have built custom Gravity Forms-based solutions for routing event submissions elsewhere as well. (Sorry I couldn’t offer more insight than that on this).
On the attendance front: there is definitely a need for this in the Events space. At the moment we are discussing a possible RSVP-centric add-on for our own plugin. We get a lot of questions about it and there’s no question the demand exists; it’s now a matter of finding time & resources for it. Know it’s on the radar though.
Hope this helps. If not, or if you have other questions, let me know.

ParticipantHi Rob,
Thanks for the reply.
I have realised that you can easily add an TEC event to a wysija newletter (just needed to change the post selection filter in wysija).
I have manually added some mailto HTML links for each RSVP type in the newsletter. However I would like to automate this somehow.
I think my best option is to add the attendance email links/buttons to the full event article and then add the full event article to the newsletter. Can you suggest what changes I should make? I did try customisation of the single-list view but this wasn’t the content that WYSIJA imported into the newsletter.
Thanks in advance,

MemberHey shanghaitigers. Thanks for the follow-up here. Glad to hear you’ve made some progress. That sounds reasonable to me and could be accomplished a couple of ways.
The easiest would be to see if a social plugin (there are a number of good ones out there) can auto-generate those buttons for you. But if not, you’d need to craft them (so they match the look/feel you want) then create a custom template for your single event and any CSS tweaks you’d need as well. Both of these are accomplished via template overrides, which we’ve covered in this tutorial: https://theeventscalendar.com/faqs/what-are-template-overrides-and-how-do-i-do-them/.
Hope that helps! Let us know if we can do anything else here.

ParticipantThanks Rob,
Can you recommend a plugin that will suit my needs?

MemberHey again! I can try; I don’t have much familiarity with that service, but I assume you’ve got the Wysija plugin installed? If so I found this on their forum, which is a bit older but it does show the options for dropping a form in (not an icon, but the form itself) without use of a widget: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wysija-newsletters-how-do-i-insert-the-form-without-using-widget. It may help. If not you might want to ask the plugin author if they’ve got anything like that in the works. The other social icon plugins I’m seeing feature a lot of services, but Wysija isn’t among them unfortunately.
