ParticipantHey Geoff,
Please see attached side-by-side comparison of the two venues. They look the same to me? – Other than title of course.
Avada is current version, 4.0.3.
Thanks hope this helps, let me know if you need login details to troubleshoot this or any of our other issues?

ParticipantHi Cliff,
Thanks, sorry I forgot to provide an example!
You will need to just edit your host file, add:
91.146.109.70 cpmr.org http://www.cpmr.org
As the site is not yet live at its domain.
I found the fundamental problem though –
When we click on the “PREVIOUS EVENTS” text, the page directs (almost via an ajax load rather than actually moving to another page – not sure if relevant?) to this URL:
http://cpmr.org/events/list/?tribe_paged=1&tribe_event_display=past
Whereas, if I type in manually a similar link like you gave in your demo,
it redirects to
http://cpmr.org/events/list/?tribe_event_display=past
and this works correctly, showing “Past Events” in the page title bar.
We are using Avada, not sure if that makes any difference but it does have some integration with Event Cal.
Many thanks, hope this helps.

ParticipantHi Geoff, here we are, D day! I don’t see any release from WPML just yet. Do you know if it’s still on schedule?
Regard in the metadata issue, what are your estimates on a timeline for fix of that? it’s pretty important to us.
Thanks a lot, all the best.

ParticipantHey Geoff,
Thanks for the good news!To clarify, I understand this should resolve the problem with language-specific category URLs.
Will it also clear up the other problem we are seeing here, where the “meta” data from the custom post type (I think I’m explaining that correctly) e.g. venue, date etc, is not being carried over to the translated version of the post?
Discussed here
Thanks

Greg
ParticipantThanks Geoff.
By the way, maybe this will help you, maybe not:
On 1 of our sites, it’s KINDA working. But not 100%
But on the other sites on the network, it’s completely broken (404 errors). And I have no idea why!
try this:
http://cpmr-intermed.org/events/
If we move from English to French on this page, then click on a category, it works.
http://cpmr-intermed.org/fr/events/categorie/cohesion-fr/groupe-cohesion-eco-soc/
But then if we switch back to English,
http://cpmr-intermed.org/events/categorie/cohesion/economic-and-social-cohesion-group/
It’s a French category URL, but the page works, we can move around the pages from french to english without getting 404 errors, but the URLs are messed up.
Anyway, it might be of some help.
All the best,
Greg

ParticipantThanks Geoff. No worries about the closed thread; to be expected.
The real issue here is time… we raised this bug back on 12th May, with George, who was pretty dismissive as you might recall.
Our client, understandibly, cannot understand why their site is now still broken 3 months later.
Given that we unfortunately can’t wait until September for a fix, I think we will have to go ahead with “Option 2” as we outlined here:
Is it simply a case of overwriting the contents of some specific folders within the /plugins/ directory, with the rollback versions we can download?
Please could you advise in a little more detail exactly what we should & shouldn’t overwrite?
Also – You advised we should revert to v4.1.4 of the plugins, which is fine for the Free version, I see that there in the WordPress repository.
But Pro – please see screenshot from our account. There is no v4.1.4!
Thanks & best wishes,
Greg

ParticipantHi Geoff,
Thanks again. Let’s continue here
“For now, there are only a handful of ways to correct this (none are perfect unfortunately):
1. After a backup, roll back to version 4.1.4 of our plugins
2. Remove the category slug translation both from your string translation interface AND in the .po/.mo language file of your secondary language. I have tested this and it works for all 3 faulty slugs. The obvious down side is that these slugs will appear in the wrong language for now”Both of these options are fine. It’s more important that it works than has newer features or has an english category slug. I guess rolling back to a previous version would be “easier”. But is option 2 “better” in some way?
What’s your recommendation?
If it’s option 1, where can I obtain a copy and what is the correct downgrade path please?
I’m guessing it’s this release..?
https://theeventscalendar.com/release-the-events-calendar-4-1-3-and-premium-add-ons/
But can’t find where to download the required old versions.
If it’s option 2. please could you provide a bit more information on the files and lines I should ammend? Thank you.
Thanks
Greg

ParticipantHi Geoff,
Thank you. We need to migrate servers and upgrade everything anyway so that will hopefully be a good option.
In the meantime, could I please ask you to take over this thread please? It’s about WPML and a fundamental problem with category translation within the Events Calendar.
I have found the support I’ve received there has not been up to the standard I’ve received from yourself. I have asked a few direct questions several times but unforunately the answers have been somewhat obstructive or avoided altogether.
Thank you kindly, best wishes
Greg
