Greg
ParticipantAs per topic title.
By default it’s “Upcoming Events“… which is fine, until visitors click on the function “Previous Events”
Then the page title still reads “Upcoming events”. Which is confusing, counterintuitive and fundamentally incorrect.
I have read this page:
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/altering-or-removing-titles-on-calendar-views/But it’s not really a question of wishing to customise the function as such – more that the display given is simply wrong for the page being shown.
Thanks for your help.

MemberHi Greg.
This isn’t something I’m experiencing on my local testing site or on our demo site: http://wpshindig.com/events/past/
Please provide your link and any actions you take so I can see how you’re getting to this issue.
Thank you.

ParticipantHi Cliff,
Thanks, sorry I forgot to provide an example!
You will need to just edit your host file, add:
91.146.109.70 cpmr.org http://www.cpmr.org
As the site is not yet live at its domain.
I found the fundamental problem though –
When we click on the “PREVIOUS EVENTS” text, the page directs (almost via an ajax load rather than actually moving to another page – not sure if relevant?) to this URL:
http://cpmr.org/events/list/?tribe_paged=1&tribe_event_display=past
Whereas, if I type in manually a similar link like you gave in your demo,
it redirects to
http://cpmr.org/events/list/?tribe_event_display=past
and this works correctly, showing “Past Events” in the page title bar.
We are using Avada, not sure if that makes any difference but it does have some integration with Event Cal.
Many thanks, hope this helps.

MemberThanks for the details.
We don’t provide support for Avada theme, only the WordPress default themes like Twenty Sixteen. They are the ones that added integration and they have custom coding to do things different than our plugins’ defaults so we can’t help there.
However, if you switch to Twenty Sixteen, it should operate on your site like our demo site does:
- Visit http://wpshindig.com/events/list/
- Click Previous Events link at the bottom of the page
- The Ajax reloading of the Events List does change from Upcoming Events to Past Events, as seen in this video
You might want to send this on to Avada’s support to see if they consider this a bug to be fixed or how else they want to handle this on their side.
I hope this helps.

ParticipantOK, shame the answer is basically “not our problem”. Our support with Avada has ended. Given that it’s a problem with an Event Calendar page… It seems like it would be problem with the Event Calendar. We don’t get the problem non-event calendar pages, for example.
So anyway, I tried it the way advised here
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/altering-or-removing-titles-on-calendar-views/
And it hasn’t worked.
I added the snippet to our child theme’s Functions.php (attached – changed “events” to “eventos”)… saved, cleared cache, refreshed… nothing. (also I wonder how this would work anyway for translated pages via WPML…)
Any idea? We could just change it to “Events” to cover all bases. Thanks for your insight.

MemberIf you switch to a WordPress default theme like Twenty Sixteen and it’s not working as it’s supposed to, we’ll definitely handle it, but we cannot provide support for every theme out there that integrates/customizes the functionality of our plugin(s).
I believe the issue with using the code snippet KB article you linked to would be the same result (i.e. not working with your Avada theme) if our default Ajax already isn’t working.
I’d suggest making sure you’re using the latest version of their theme and then try to get in touch to report the bug even if they do not actually provide you “support”. I’m not familiar with their support process so I can’t advise in this regard any further.

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!
