Hi Geoff, hope you’re well.
We talked previously about this topic:
https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/continuing-closed-thread-re-translation/I wanted to come back to you about this as it’s still causing us problems. Now we’re nearly 2 months down the line, I wondered if it had been addressed from your side? I have updated to the latest versions of Calendar and Calendar Pro but the problem persists.
Thanks for your attention,
Greg
August 4, 2016 at 10:48 pm #1147974Geoff B.MemberGood evening Greg and welcome back!
Thank you for writing back.
I am sorry the support droid closed the previous thread. You are absolutely right, the slug translation issues have already been there far to long for our liking.
The good news is that we have worked closely with the good folks from WPML and we have a good handle on things.
The current target is to release important improvements to WPML support with version 4.3
I am keeping a close eye on this one as I think it will make things much smoother for everybody 🙂
Hang tight as this release is scheduled for later this month if all goes well.
Best regards,
Geoff B.
August 8, 2016 at 10:19 am #1149063GregParticipantThanks Geoff. No worries about the closed thread; to be expected.
The real issue here is time… we raised this bug back on 12th May, with George, who was pretty dismissive as you might recall.
https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/category-url-translation-problem/
Our client, understandibly, cannot understand why their site is now still broken 3 months later.
Given that we unfortunately can’t wait until September for a fix, I think we will have to go ahead with “Option 2” as we outlined here:
Is it simply a case of overwriting the contents of some specific folders within the /plugins/ directory, with the rollback versions we can download?
Please could you advise in a little more detail exactly what we should & shouldn’t overwrite?
Also – You advised we should revert to v4.1.4 of the plugins, which is fine for the Free version, I see that there in the WordPress repository.
But Pro – please see screenshot from our account. There is no v4.1.4!
Thanks & best wishes,
Greg

By the way, maybe this will help you, maybe not:
On 1 of our sites, it’s KINDA working. But not 100%
But on the other sites on the network, it’s completely broken (404 errors). And I have no idea why!
try this:
http://cpmr-intermed.org/events/
If we move from English to French on this page, then click on a category, it works.
http://cpmr-intermed.org/fr/events/categorie/cohesion-fr/groupe-cohesion-eco-soc/
But then if we switch back to English,
http://cpmr-intermed.org/events/categorie/cohesion/economic-and-social-cohesion-group/
It’s a French category URL, but the page works, we can move around the pages from french to english without getting 404 errors, but the URLs are messed up.
Anyway, it might be of some help.
All the best,
Greg
August 25, 2016 at 10:52 pm #1156209Geoff B.MemberHey Greg,
Thank you for that extra piece of information.
You are absolutely right in your observation of how the URLs are messed up.
The good news is that this matches what our Dev had found and this is exactly what they are working at solving in collaboration with the Dev lead from WPML.
We have requested a release date from them and are waiting for an answer.
On top of that, to ensure we are wasting no time, we are putting the final touches on recurring event support with WPML as well.So in short, everything will go pretty quickly with several enhancements being released shortly after their fix.
More on that tomorrow.
Have a good night,
Geoff B.August 29, 2016 at 10:57 pm #1157425Geoff B.MemberGood evening Greg,
I am still waiting for confirmation from the WPML team lead.
But, I can report that the our recurring event support is pending QA as we are speaking (which is really good news).I just resent an update request.
Hopefully I’ll have some news for you this week.Have a great day!
Geoff B.
