    Hey Geoff,

I think that problem was occuring due to the WPML url mismatch on /events/, as you can see in the address bar the url was

    http://cpmr.org/events?lang=fr

When it should have been (as it is now):

    http://cpmr.org/fr/events/

However…The problem is still here on a sub site in the network. French site has english dividers.

    http://cpmr-intermed.org/fr/events/

I’ve cleared cache and refreshed permalinks

    Thanks

BTW – (fixed the spanish capitalisation issue thanks. Also had to include .tribe-event-date-start and .tribe-event-date-end)

    Hey Geoff,

I logged in and edited this out as completed.

We’d changed WPML URL settings from ?lang=fr to /fr/ not updated the manually created /events/ url on the main menu. This caused the strange behaviour. Somehow!

BTW – It’s asking me to give my name and email for every reply, even though I’m logged into our account

    Thanks

Thanks Geoff, I’ve tweaked that to fit.

(Simply having “rechercher” as the text, rather than “trouver les evenements” would solve the problem long term)

Cheers for your help, all the best

    Hey Geoff,

    OK tried that…

    Even at size 10,

    TROUVER LES EVENEMENTS

Will not fit unfortunately (any smaller and it’s not readable)

The phrase simply needs to be shorter. Or over 2 lines. Maybe creating a custom page template and inserting a line break in the php code…? I’d need some guidelines if that’s the case.

    Link is:

    http://cpmr.org/fr/events/

You will need host file edit as site is not live at that domain yet.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Geoff,

    We’ve updated to 4.3.3 now

    The issue persists

It’s explained in full here, with screenshots:

Google Maps in the single event post sidebar does not work on French events. that’s it.

    ** For Geoff B ** – WPML translation – Google Map doesn't work

    Thanks, all the best

    Geoff,

Finally some good news. I have fed back to Zach but wanted to let you know personally – the patch we received Friday appears to have fixed the category slug problem.

I have requested feedback/confirmation from client.

If positive, what are the next steps to ensuring everything is OK as far as general QA/ full release? Would prefer not to launch a live site running nightly/alpha/beta releases of code.

    Many thanks,

    Greg

    Hi Geoff,

Continuing this topic (not sure if you can re-open the topic – would be helpful, to keep this seperate from the Category Slug topic?)

    Category URL translation problem

Using the Version 4.3rc6, I have noticed that using “Overwrite with” will successfully bring the data (venue, date etc) accross to the translation, however “Copy from…” does not.

Side note – as we have a version outside the normal update schedule, will we see “Update Avaiable” in the WordPress Plugin updates section, when your general release is out? Or does our “custom” version always think it’s the most up-to-date or something?

    Thanks

    Hi George,

I checked with the site admins.

They do not, in fact, frequently use Preview.

I also have created a test Venue last week, “Gooble test 1” which has not been used on any other events or previewed.

There is now 3 copies of it (2 placed as “Draft”)

see attached screenshot, which highlights the others with many, many duplicates.

I cannot do specific actions to make it happen, that I have noticed.

    Thanks
    Greg

    Cheers George.

The scenario Chris has described is extremely likely for our case, knowing our client and their staff – they will probably be using the Preview. Perhaps without even knowing it. They’re not very WP-Savvy.

We have identified some venues that have the most duplicates. I have therefore asked them to find out who was the administrator responsible for creating the events at those venues, and ask if they recall using the Preview function.

Seperately, I am unable to actually recreate the issue because, as I mentioned with those screenshots, when I create a new event and add a Venue, it doesn’t save ANYTHING. No venue is added or created. Let alone multiples!

    Thanks

Actually, in my case, the venue doesn’t get created at all.

    I create a new event.

Input some details for the new venue.

    Click Update.

    The venue details are gone.

a new venue has not been added in the Venues overview page.

Interesting, thanks Chris. Glad someone else has seen the problem.

Your description could well tie in with our scenario – the people entering the events are more day-to-day users rather than developer/experienced wp admin types, and so may be using Preview.

    Cheers.
