ParticipantHey Greg,
Okay, I am sorry to hear about all of the trouble here.
1. Can you reliably get duplicate events or venues to generate on your site if you do a specific set of steps?
2. If so, then at this stage the only recommendation I can make is as follows:
- Check out this troubleshooting guide on our site → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/
- Perform EACH STEP in that process.
- After EACH STEP in that process, do the steps established in step #1 here: in other words, do the exact steps that cause the duplication problem.
- Anywhere along the way in the process, does the behavior of duplication problem change at all?
- Anywhere along the way in the process, does the behavior of the “it doesn’t save ANYTHING” problem change at all?
Let us know if you can perform these steps on your site, and if so, what you find.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
GeorgeOctober 13, 2016 at 4:21 am #1175840Greg
ParticipantHi George,
I checked with the site admins.
They do not, in fact, frequently use Preview.
I also have created a test Venue last week, “Gooble test 1” which has not been used on any other events or previewed.
There is now 3 copies of it (2 placed as “Draft”)
see attached screenshot, which highlights the others with many, many duplicates.
I cannot do specific actions to make it happen, that I have noticed.
Thanks

ParticipantHey Greg,
Thank you for looking more into this and confirming that Preview is not being used, and for your patience with the delayed reply here over the weekend and such.
I am still failing to reproduce your problems no matter what I try. I am beginning to suspect a possible database- or server-level issue here; such an issue would certainly explain the differences in behavior we’re finding. It would also explain this facet of the problem:
I cannot do specific actions to make it happen, that I have noticed.
From here, I would recommend a few things. Can you share each of the following pieces of information here?
1. Does this duplication happen with any post types other than Venues on your site?
2. Did you do the complete set of troubleshooting steps I recommended in my last reply? If so, what did you find?
3. We just released versions 4.3 of our plugins. If you update all plugins to version 4.3, does anything improve with these issues?
Thank you!

ParticipantHi george, does v4.3 address the duplication issue when using ‘preview’? i realise i jumped in on greg’s original thread here and it now seems this is a separate issue, but just wondered whether you were able to acknowledge that using ‘preview’ does have issues in terms of unwanted venue and organisation replication?
thanks

ParticipantHi Chris,
We are still working on fixing this bug. It has not been addressed yet in 4.3.

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!

ParticipantHey there,
We published a Maintenance Release today that includes a number of fixes, including some that should prevent the duplication problems with venues and organizers you report here.
Check out our release notes for it here to learn more → https://theeventscalendar.com/maintenance-release-for-the-week-of-29th-may-2017/
