ParticipantHey Mike,
Where are you seeing that error? What are you doing / trying to do when it happens? I don’t know that I’ve seen that one before.

ParticipantHey Jasmin,
I don’t know that we are the solution you are looking for. The only emails that are even remotely attached to the calendar are through the ticketing solutions and are merely notifications, not true emails. I’m not sure what you mean about embedding social sharing buttons, but I do know that is not something that is included in our calendar plugins. It is likely something you could add to your site through an additional plugin, however. Our event pages do not really accommodate comments, either. Adding something like Disqus is most likely possible with customization, but we cannot provide support for that.
You’ve got a lot of great ideas there, but I don’t know that we’ve got the features that you need to make it happen.

ParticipantHey Siegfried,
Hmmm… I do know that sometimes UTC-based times have caused troubles. Is it possible for you to switch to a location-based timezone? Does that make any difference? Also, can you provide me a link to an event you are trying to import so I can try to duplicate the issue?
And just to verify that I’m understanding this correctly, the Facebook event is listed at 13 PM, but when timezone = London it is imported as 12 PM and when timezone = UTC+1 it is imported as 14 PM. Is that correct?

ParticipantHey Cameron,
I do believe we are going to be able to help you on this. The Facebook App ID/App Secret is unique to you (or someone) and only needs to be entered on the site once. And only one set needs to be entered. Once those are in place, you can pretty much import any event from Facebook that is allowed. (Facebook doesn’t allow us to import “adult” events, such as pubs, bars, or adult entertainment types. And the events have to be from a Page or Group and not a personal Profile.) There are actually two ways to import from Facebook that we accommodate. The first is the one you describe where it is an actual event ID that is imported on a one-time basis. But there is also a way to enter the name of the group and have new events auto-imported going forward. To be clear, this is an import function and not a sync service. New events are identified and brought into WordPress and not updated after that. I would think you’d be able to enter in the names of the Pages/businesses that you want to bring in and you’d be set.
Does that answer your questions? Will that work for you?

ParticipantHey bobgair,
Gah! My bad. You said weekly view. Now I see the problem. I’m thinking you’ve got a conflict with your theme there somewhere since the other views are working fine. (To verify that, try reverting to the default Twenty Twelve theme and see if it does the same thing. Disabling other plugins can also help isolate it.) I suspect the vcalendar class is a possible culprit, but you might want to contact your theme developer to see what their thoughts are.
Can you give that a try?

ParticipantHey bobgair,
When I jumped out to your site, everything was looking really good! Did you manage to get it resolved yourself?

ParticipantHey Kevin,
When I go to your site, it appears to be a work in progress so I’m unable to see the behavior in action. When you say the button does not work, that it’s not loading or showing older events, what exactly does that mean? The button is visible apparently. Is it greyed out? Does it load a new page that shows no events? Does clicking it do nothing at all?
Can you give me just a bit more to go on?

February 13, 2014 at 5:00 pm in reply to: Could my events calendar negatively affect my SEO? #104335Julie Kuehl
ParticipantHey yorkshiretots,
Goodness! I don’t know if that’s something we’re going to be able to help you with much as we are not SEO experts. What you’ve mentioned may not be ideal for SEO, but I’ve not heard much about this from others though. Plus that’s just how events work, I suppose. Same name, description, times, etc. But you might find better help from a WordPress SEO specialist.

ParticipantHey fred,
I understand your need to find a quick resolution, but there are too many variables to provide a one-post, clear-cut, definite, one-time answer that will work 100% by tomorrow. I’m happy to work with you on this, but it’s important that you understand the limitations of the support we are able to provide.
That being said, I did test the events and they are importing fine on my testing site. Thank you for providing your site’s information. When I jumped in briefly, the first thing I noticed is that you have not set the time zone for your location. That would explain the 5-hour differences showing up. As far as that 30-minute shift, I really have no explanation for that other than that perhaps it is related to your server’s time.
Can you try setting your timezone to, let’s say, New York and see if that improves things? The next step might be to contact your hosting provider and verify the time settings on the server.
Will that work?
