February 27, 2014 at 6:08 pm in reply to: Pre-sales question relating to Community Events Plugin #110645Julie KuehlParticipant
Hey athyg,
Yeah, that’s not the way it’s designed exactly. Events entered through the Community Events interface don’t default to Private (the three choices are: https://cloudup.com/cS8jDsEd5YT). You might be able to use this tutorial to restrict some of the events though https://theeventscalendar.com/how-to-hide-events-from-unregistered-users/ and possibly use an additional plugin for the reminder emails, which is something our plugin doesn’t do.
I’m not sure that’s the most elegant solution for you, but it might work. Does that make sense?

Julie KuehlParticipantHey begulliver,
Thanks for that information. When I checked the price filter on my testing site and it seemed to be working for me. So I went to your site to take a look, but you must have it turned off as the only filter available was category, and I couldn’t take a closer look at what’s going on. Can you try the filter with the default Twenty Twelve theme and see if the problem persists? The other possibility might be the translation files. Could you remove those and see if that makes any difference?

Thanks so much for sharing your solution to this issue. Are you using the latest version (3.4) of our plugin(s)? I thought we resolved that issue and we’ve not yet updated Shindig, which it why it is still appearing there. If you are on the current version, could you please let me know?

February 27, 2014 at 5:33 pm in reply to: add html above calendar for a specific a category. #110620Julie KuehlParticipantHey seancon1,
Help me understand more about what you’re trying to do here. I’m going to assume we’re talking about a single event page and not something like the monthly view. Would the event have it’s own featured image, and you want to display a second image related to the category? Would every category that you use have an associated image or just a few special ones, like Easter? Your requirements may be crossing over into the area of customization, which we can’t really provide support for, but I’d like to be clear about what you’re trying to do first.

Julie KuehlParticipantHey tammylfinch,
If you’d like to see the calendar in action, we have demo site over at http://wpshindig.com/events/. If you’re looking to make changes to the layout/theme, have you seen our Themer’s Guide (https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation/events-calendar-themers-guide/)?
Is that the information you were looking for?

Julie KuehlParticipantHey atasteoftango,
I’m not sure I fully understand the issue. Have you checked the box on the Events > Settings > General tab that includes events in the mail blog loop? (It’s the last option shown on this screenshot https://cloudup.com/cc2iAvsvvkS) Or are you having trouble with them displaying after that box has been checked?

February 27, 2014 at 4:18 pm in reply to: Categorize organizer post types and search questions #110558Julie KuehlParticipant
Hey funinjerusalem,

Well, I think it would be possible to do what you’re asking there, but not without some serious customization of the plugin and your site. If that’s something you’re up to doing yourself, you might find some helpful information in either our Themer’s Guide (https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation/events-calendar-themers-guide/) or Documentation (http://docs.tri.be/). If it’s beyond your skills, we don’t do customization ourselves, but we might be able to put you in touch with some developers that could help you out. If you want more information regarding that, please send an email to pro (at) tri.be and reference this thread.

- Julie

Julie KuehlParticipantHey tammylfinch,
I just wanted to let you know that I’m going to have Barry help you with this since you worked with him previously. He’s out today, however, but I’m sure he’ll get in touch with you shortly.

February 27, 2014 at 4:07 pm in reply to: Getting rid of the "Country" in the address in list view #110542Julie KuehlParticipantHey sciotomile,
First off, hat tip to snorton for his suggestion. Have you tried that?
Also, I was going to suggest that you take a look at this tutorial https://theeventscalendar.com/altering-or-removing-headings-on-calendar-views/ It’s only slightly different than what you’re trying to accomplish and might have enough there to help you get it figured out.
Does one of those work for you?
– Julie
P.S. I also found this tutorial which may be just what you need: https://theeventscalendar.com/remove-country-from-address-field-on-single-event-pages/
Julie KuehlParticipantHey Jay,
I do believe you have come to the right place. Have we got some plugins for you! 🙂 First, let me suggest that you try our free The Events Calendar plugin and see if that works on your site. If you’d like to upgrade to get features like recurring events and other views, then take a look at our Events Calendar PRO plugin.
As far as accepting payment for the courses, we have several options. Any of our ticketing plugins would probably do the trick. So I’d recommend that you take a look at them and see what payment gateways they offer and which ones will work for you. My standard recommendation is that if you’ve got an existing relationship with Eventbrite, go with them. Otherwise, if you are selling, or thing you ever will sell, physical products, take a look at WooCommerce Ticket. If you believe you’ll be only digital (and tickets sold for courses would fit here) then look at our EDD Tickets plugin. Nothing wrong with the other ticketing solutions either. They’re just newer to our stable.
Does that make sense? Can I answer any other questions?
– Julie
Julie KuehlParticipantHey Ricardo Pedrosa,
We don’t offer trials for our products, but you can see a quick demo of our Eventbrite Tickets add-on over at http://wpshindig.com/event/the-events-calendars-eventbrite-wordpress-demo/ Plus there’s some great videos where you can get a closer look in our New User Primer https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation/eventbrite-tickets-new-user-primer/
Does that give you enough information to make a decision?
– Julie
Julie KuehlParticipantHey btellock,
Expiring criteria? Can you elaborate on what you mean by that?
– Julie
Julie KuehlParticipantHey Seb,
That does sound like a good idea, as it’s not something the Filter Bar can currently do. Can I ask that you add it to our Feature Ideas page (https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas)? That would get it on our radar and help us in prioritizing it.
– Julie
Julie KuehlParticipantHey mikeinsc,
When I tested those sites, I too was able to import events from the NBTavern, but not from hometeambbq. But hometeambbq doesn’t actually have any future events, so there’s nothing to import at the moment, so that would be expected behavior. Is that the way you see it?
Also, I should make you aware of something regarding the Facebook API. In case you missed this on our product page:
Please note: You may not be able to import events that Facebook deems adult in nature, including breweries, bars, night clubs, and adult entertainment. The Facebook API dictates that only public, unrestricted events are importable at this time.
It appears that these Facebook Pages are importing at the present time, but Facebook can change that at any time. Just thought you should know as the tavern site may come under this restriction at some point.
– Julie
Julie KuehlParticipantHey teamworks,
Have you tried disabling all the plugins and reverting to the Twenty Twelve theme? Does the problem still occur then?
