Facebook Events Feature Questions

I have a couple of questions about the functionality of the Facebook
Events plugin for The Events Calendar. First, I noticed on one of the
screenshots that it has a box to “Import arbitrary events by their
Facebook ID”. Will this work for any event on FB, or just ones where the
page with the Facebook App ID/App Secret is the host/owner of the event?
Also, if the page with the App ID/App Secret is added to an event as a
host (but is not the owner/creator of the event), will that import?

I’m creating a regional events calendar and will be soliciting events
from a variety of pages/businesses, and trying to get them all to go
through the app ID/app secret thing isn’t really feasible. So I’m just
looking for alternatives for letting them auto-import their events from
Facebook.

Hey Cameron,

I do believe we are going to be able to help you on this. The Facebook App ID/App Secret is unique to you (or someone) and only needs to be entered on the site once. And only one  set needs to be entered. Once those are in place, you can pretty much import any event from Facebook that is allowed. (Facebook doesn’t allow us to import “adult” events, such as pubs, bars, or adult entertainment types. And the events have to be from a Page or Group and not a personal Profile.) There are actually two ways to import from Facebook that we accommodate. The first is the one you describe where it is an actual event ID that is imported on a one-time basis. But there is also a way to enter the name of the group and have new events auto-imported going forward. To be clear, this is an import function and not a sync service. New events are identified and brought into WordPress and not updated after that. I would think you’d be able to enter in the names of the Pages/businesses that you want to bring in and you’d be set.
