ParticipantHi shimatorabi,
Filtering by category is a commonly requested feature that we don’t currently have in place. However, we have been working on adding this feature even to the point of having a coming-soon page over at https://theeventscalendar.com/shop/wordpress-events-filter-bar/.
It sounds like that would provide the functionality you’re looking for. But I am sorry if it doesn’t meet your timelines.

ParticipantHi Daniel,
We’re glad you are considering switching to The Events Calendar. But at the present time, we do not have a way to import data. It is on our roadmap, however. While we don’t have a specific release date at this time, we are working on building a CSV-based importer that will be added during the 3.0 cycle. If you would like to get in on an early beta, with no guarantees, drop an email to pro/at/tri.be that you’re welcome to test out.
Sorry I don’t have a better answer for you at this time.

ParticipantHi Kevin,
Thanks for the compliment! So let’s take those one by one…
1) Community Events works just fine with The Events Calendar (free). Adding the PRO license will get you some additional features though. Up to you.
2) We do use the Events slug as part of our plugin, so that sounds like some good preventative medicine there to change it to something different before installing.
3) The iCal import function is available on several views. At the current time subscribing to a calendar’s RSS feed isn’t possible, but you’re not the first to mention it. If you’d like to throw your hat in the ring, you can see the discussion over at https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas/suggestions/3777092-enable-calendar-synchronisation
I hope that answered your questions. If you have any more, please ask!

ParticipantHi Jennifer,
What an awesome idea!
I think you’d be able to do what you are looking for with our free The Events Calendar plugin and our WooCommerce Tickets add-on. The trickiest part is going to be the donations. If they are a fixed amount you could simply set them as a “ticket price” and each event could have a variety of ticket prices. If they are “give what you want” that would not be possible at the current time without some pretty significant customization.
I hope that answers your question. Don’t hesitate to ask if you have more!

ParticipantHey Michael,
This sounds a bit familiar to me, but I’m going to pass you over to the The Events Calendar PRO forum since you’re an existing customer.
In the meantime, you can check out Our Bug Hunting Roadmap https://theeventscalendar.com/bug-hunting/ to see if what you’re experiencing has been logged over there. And you might find this helpful too https://theeventscalendar.com/stop-tooltip-from-obscuring-event-title/. It sounds at lot like what you’ve described.
Thanks for letting us know!

ParticipantHi kkwadrat,
We appreciate your interest in the map feature. However, the icons are determined by Google and not by our plugin, so they’re not something you could customize using our hooks. There is a way to limit the map to display only one category, you’d just need to create a separate page to do that. You might find some useful information in our Themer’s Guide https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation/events-calendar-themers-guide/.
If you have any additional questions, since you’re an existing customer, you can ask these types of questions in our The Events Calendar PRO forum. They’ll be able to help you with specific questions there.
I hope that helps!

ParticipantHi Andrew,
This particular behavior of how recurring events are handled in the backend did not change between ECP 2.x and ECP 3.x. The way it is currently engineered, when you publish a recurring event, each event is created separately and they are linked together to allow you to “view all”. It would be require a significant overhaul of how these events are handled in the system to allow it to do what you’d like. Once they’re created, there’s no real way to collapse them again.
I understand what you mean about making it easier to manage events at the backend, it’s just not the way it’s currently designed. Sorry I can’t offer more.

ParticipantHi socialfluency,
Any upgrade could possibly break a custom template, it all depends on how it was built. Given that you have a “troubled” site, plus you’d be upgrading from Events Calendar PRO 2.x to 3.x (a major upgrade), I would recommend that you make a backup, possibly duplicate the site, manually install the plugin, and see what happens. If it all goes wrong, you should be able to restore from backup, or just scrap the duplicate site while you plan your next move.
If you have any other questions specific to the calendar, please let us know.

ParticipantHello Philippe,
That is a bothersome issue. I have a couple of things for you.
First, you can always check to see if something you’re experiencing is a bug that is on our radar. We’ve got a list of bugs we’re working on over at https://theeventscalendar.com/bug-hunting/.
Second, somewhere in the list (#52 actually) it seems someone else reported a similar situation. If you check out their thread, there were some ideas presented and a possible workaround. Could you take a look at that and give it a try? https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/events-all-marked-this-event-has-passed/
I’m hoping that does the trick for you until we get a stable fix released. Please let us know how you get on with it.

ParticipantHi Heinz,
First off, thanks for helping meghanbrasuell out with the font question.
With regards to your own question, I can’t seem to find the widget on your site. Could you point me to it so that we could take a closer look? We’ll do our best to get you sorted from there.

ParticipantHi Jorge,
I’m happy to answer your questions. When creating an event, you’ll have the ability to set the event categories as you enter the information. However, all events created have the WooCommerce product category of “ticket” automatically. You’d be able to set up as many ticket (a.k.a. product) categories as you need, but you might have to manually switch them after they’ve been created. Depending on how many events and categories you are creating this could range from no big deal to a lot of work.
Does that help?

ParticipantHi commongoodsa,
If I understand this correctly, your calendar grid shows up full-width, but your individual event pages are displaying a sidebar? Is that the case?
Setting the Events Template to the Default Events Template really should make all the pages full-width. Could you provide a link so we could take a look at what’s happening?

ParticipantHi Heinz,
Sorry you’re having troubles. You’ve got a couple of issues there so let’s take them one at a time.
1) You indicated that you’re on version 3.0.4 and we’re up to 3.0.5 on PRO. Could you upgrade to the latest version of the plugin? Let’s try this and see if it helps.
2) The 404-error is a known bug that is a high priority to get fixed. You can track the bugs we are working on over at https://theeventscalendar.com/bug-hunting/. While we can’t guarantee which maintenance release will address this issue, we are working to get this released in an impending maintenance build very soon. Hang in there!

ParticipantHi fredlacroix,
That is an excellent question. So excellent in fact that we created a page specifically for it. It’s a fairly simple bit of code tweaking that is spelled out over here: https://theeventscalendar.com/how-to-show-all-events-occurring-each-day-in-calendar-view/.
Give that a try and see if it does the trick for you. And let us know if you have any additional questions!
