ParticipantHi Beth,
Did you check out the also-updated Themer’s Guide? (https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation/events-calendar-themers-guide/) I think you should find some helpful information there.
If not, please feel free to ask for some additional assistance.

ParticipantHi jsammann,
Well, I think it is currently possible, but might take a bit of tweaking to get it just right for you. If I understand you right, you want to replace your home page with a list of the “featured” events? The first trick is getting the calendar to display as your home page. There’s another thread with some relevant information on that topic over at https://tri.be/support/forums/topic/making-the-event-list-my-front-page/.
The second part is simply displaying a specific category, which is also possible. You’ll want to take a look at our Themer’s Guide for an overview (https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation/events-calendar-themers-guide/).
Sorry it’s not a simpler answer for you. Can I help you with anything else?

ParticipantHi anthony,
Well, obviously, you don’t have to use them if you don’t need them. And there is a way to remove them from the display when you click on Events. But actually removing them from the Add New event screen and the left-hand menu would take jumping into the plugin code. So it’s possible, if you know what you’re doing.
Sorry it’s not a simpler answer for you. Can I help you with anything else?

ParticipantHi slightlynervous,
Could you possibly provide an admin login for us to go in and take a peek? It’s hard to diagnose without seeing what’s going on.
And I might ask one of the other team members to assist on this one too.

P.S. Be sure to send that as a private message!

ParticipantHi ariddlelfcc,
Can I ask you to send your request by email to pro (at) tri.be? They should be able to help you there.

ParticipantHi Rose,
Ok, let’s take these one at a time.
First, is there a way to have the events list be the site’s home page. The answer is yes, it is possible. I’ve a couple of things you can try. The first is a little older and refers to an earlier version of the plugin. Be careful of
include(‘wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/views/gridview.php’);
as it’s been updated in 3.0 and will need to reflect the current php file name. The second one is at https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/events-views-in-the-homepage/ and might be an easier approach and one you might want to try first.
Second, you want to have an RSS feed of those events. The Events Calendar can do that and you can find some good information at https://theeventscalendar.com/how-to-add-events-to-your-rss-feed/
And lastly you asked about the photo view. Yes, that is only available in the Events Calendar PRO plugin.
Does that answer your questions? Can I help you with anything else?

ParticipantHi Glenn,
The Filter Bar will be a separate add-on to either The Events Calendar (free) or the Events Calendar PRO (premium) plugin. It will not be included in the PRO plugin, so yes there will be an extra cost. And our pricing model didn’t change, but our prices did at the beginning of the month, if that’s what you were referring to.
Can I help you with anything else?

P.S. Athen – which link is dead? The two I posted earlier seem to be working for me.

ParticipantHi Kevin,
Your situation sounds very familiar to me, and I think WooCommerce Tickets could do the job. The add-on treats “tickets” as WooCommerce products, so you can set prices and call them whatever you’d like. I’m imagining that the ticket sales might be on one page, the sponsorship packages on another, and the exhibitor space on another to help eliminate confusion. You are correct that there currently isn’t a way for them to specify an exhibitor space or negotiate a price. But you could offer windows of discounts as a possible option. I’m thinking that if you creatively combined the ticketing function with some categories/pages you’d be able to accomplish what you’re looking for.
Have you checked out the Themer’s Guide yet? Or the WooCommerce Tickets documentation? That might give you a better feel for the type of project it might be. And I should also mention our Filters Bar add-on that is currently in beta. It might be a way for you to separate the public/exhibitor/sponsor information.
Does that help? Do you have any additional questions?

ParticipantHi Peer,
Sorry about the broken link, and my misunderstanding. What you’re asking for in the list view is most likely possible through customization. You can take a look at our Themer’s Guide to help you make those changes yourself.
Anything else I can help you with?

ParticipantHi Jeanette,
Hehe. No worries on the name. Even my mother does that from time to time. 🙂
Gathering the additional information you mentioned is not something the plugin is designed to do. It might be possible with customization, but I’m not sure how that would work to be honest. Might be a question for the WooCommerce folks even. But it also something that’s on our roadmap for development, but it’s just not available yet.
And it is possible to do discounts based on time, but the plugin can’t do discounts based on discount codes.
I’m sorry we don’t have these features available for you at the present time. If I can be of any further help, just let me know.

ParticipantHello slightlynervous,
That would be weird. And frustrating. However, when I go to your site and conduct a search everything appears to be working as expected. What am I missing? Can you be more specific? Help?

ParticipantHello Leslie,
Well, that’s the easiest question of the day. 🙂
If we can actually help you with something, please ask!

ParticipantHello Peer,
Actually, depending on your requirements, there is a plugin that was created by a trusted user that might suit your situation. It’s a free one on the WordPress.org repository called The Events Calendar Category Colors. Do you think that would do what you want?
And to be clear, the theme you pointed to looks similar to our Photo View in the Events Calendar PRO plugin, so yes you can list your events in a similar fashion.
Do you have any additional questions?

Julie Kuehl
ParticipantHello Jeanette,
If I understand your situation correctly, it sounds like our WooCommerce Tickets add-on – along with The Events Calendar (free) plugin – would do the trick for you. The tickets are managed as WooCommerce products. I’m not sure what information you collect on your registration form, but the tickets do collect name and email as well as information about the ticket.
Do you have any additional questions?

ParticipantHi Mark,
You are correct that isn’t something that the plugin is designed to do out of the box. But another user asked a similar question previously over at https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/utilize-regular-categories-instead-of-event-categories/. In that case, using tags instead of categories was suggested as a workaround. Do you think that is something that might suit your needs as well?
