Thank you for sharing this information, @Geir. It is very helpful. I will be honest and admit that I don’t know when filters will arrive if they do arrive, but I will create a developer ticket and share your feedback.

    Thank you,
    George

Weird! Thanks for reporting this, @Benjamin—Events Calendar Pro is indeed a “heavy” plugin that does lots of things, but it should not be causing 500 errors; we have no other reports of it doing so; and no matter what I tried I could not produce a 500 error myself. So I’m not quite sure happened.

I’m glad there’s progress though—thank you for your patience with this issue!

I will close this thread for now but please open a new thread any time if other issues, questions, comments, etc. arise.

Best of luck with your site,
    George

    Excellent!

Okay, so one additional and essential test I can think of here is for you to download and install this free plugin → https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-crontrol/

That will let you manually run the “automated” task of Facebook event imports so that we can see if that works. If the manual import works, then we can confirm that the issue here is the cron task not being run.

So, once you download, install, and activate that plugin, a new menu item will be available in your wp-admin under the Tools admin menu. This new item should be called “Cron Events”—click this page, and you should see a list of cron events. Find the one that is called tribe_fb_auto_import and click “Run Now” next to it.

    See this screenshot for reference:

    1. Does this run successfully once you click “Run Now”? Give the page a few seconds to “work” after you click “Run Now”.

    2. After doing this, if you head into the admin page for Events do you see events from those pages imported correctly?

This works well for me. Here is a screenshot of many events from those pages successfully imported into my site: https://cloudup.com/cwrDwPN0pl5/f

    Thank you!

    Hey Benjamin,

There is no known compatibility issue on this level—a 500 error.

Do any errors pop up on your site if you head to your site’s wp-config.php file and change this line of code:

    define('WP_DEBUG', false);

    to this:

    define('WP_DEBUG', true);

That will display PHP errors if any exist, which might be quite useful here. Try making this change and then trying to recreate the 500 error—any other errors pop up along the way? If so, copy and paste them in their entirety into Gists at http://gist.github.com, and then share links to those Gists here.

    Thank you!

    Hey Janet,

I’m glad to hear about the ordering issue being resolved by clearing cache. As for the EventBrite issue, I cannot thank you enough for your patience and persistence with this—we’re working hard on a fix but this has been a very odd and challenging problem to identify.

We’re working on it! Stay tuned.

I will indeed keep this thread open and will post as soon as I have more word about the EventBrite issues. If any other questions arise in the meantime, let me know. 🙂

    Sincerely,
    George

Thank you for all of this information! I’m happy shared it and do genuinely want to help here—I wanted to be frank and honest earlier about how little me might be able to do, but it’s still worth looking and investigating.

Your system information shows that your plugins are all up-to-date—nice. Nothing else stands out as outright problematic, either.

What you said here was interesting, and very useful:

just to confirm we have tested for compatibilities issues but even if TEC is the only plugin running, the speed issues still materialise as soon as the widget is used on the page

I’m surprised to see our widget having such an impact, and don’t see it doing so on my own local site, but will take a closer look and rope in some developer assistance on this to see if we can identify why this might be happening.

    Stay tuned!

That’s a great tip, @Laurent, and I’m sorry about the outcome of this thread. When I try the code modification that I suggested above, it works fine for me, so I am not sure why it’s not working for you. Sorry for the trouble!

    Sincerely,
    George

    Hey Louise,

You can do so a number of ways; this is unfortunately a “general WordPress” question, so you would have to turn to the old Google.com for more specific assistance with this sort of thing, but a simple way to access that file is to go to Appearance → Editor in your site’s wp-admin.

This will bring you to an editor area; a list of files should be on the right side of the screen. Once here you can find and edit style.css and it should do the trick.

    Cheers!

    Hey Diane,

    Thank you for the link!

I took a look at your Month View but saw no such “sidebar navigation”—sorry if I’m missing something! Can you share a screenshot of the specific thing you’re trying to hide/remove on Month View?

    Thank you!

No problem @Caroline, thank you for the follow-up!

One it comes to “setting” the compression and such for the images, I hate to keep bearing bad news but this is unfortunately not something that you could easily alter—especially not from within your WordPress site. The compression on Facebook.com itself indeed seems to end up with slightly different images (as far as a program can interpret them), and they still ultimately end up on Facebook.com with a different filename and such.

So it’s a tricky problem—I’m sorry about the state of things, but please let me know if I can try to help with anything else or what other comments/feedback you might have on this.

    Sincerely,
    George

    Hey @teubl,

You unfortunately cannot rework the recurring event URLs how you describe. 🙁 You could only do so by rewriting the code that handles the recurring event links, which is far outside the scope of support and a project you would have to undertake on your own.

Since your last questions have been mostly customization-related ones—which is fine! we are just not able to help much with them—I will go ahead and close up this thread. If you have any other questions that we are able to help with, open a new thread any time.

    Thank you,

    Thank you for this information!

Nothing seems out of place here, so I am truly a bit stumped by the behavior you describe on your site.

    1. What are your site’s Permalinks settings? These are found literally at Settings → Permalinks in your site’s wp-admin. Are they set to /%postname%/, for example?

    2. Just to clear, do you mean that you have tried deactivating ALL plugins except The Events Calendar and Events Calendar Pro AND—while your site was in this state—then also activated a default theme like Twenty Sixteen? In this state, what do you find? (The key is that the default theme is active and all other plugins except the two events ones are deactivated.)

Thank you for your patience with this; the behavior is not normal and cannot be recreated, so this extra digging is unfortunately necessary to make progress on the investigation.

    Sincerely,
    George

    Hi Janet,

Unfortunately the 4.1.3 update does not address the Eventbrite issues, which are still being investigated and fixed.

As for the ordering issue, can you share a link to where this is happening? Or is this only happening on your local site?

Thank you Victor—we’ve actually heard from a number of folks who have the issue you describe and have confirmed that there’s a bug with our plugin and Sensei.

We are working hard on a fix and will hopefully have one available for release in a few short weeks, hopefully sooner.

Stay tuned to this thread; and stay tuned to our blog for release news at http://theeventscalendar.com/blog

    Sorry for the trouble!
