MemberHi Andrea, thanks for getting in touch!
We currently don’t support a way for organizers to receive notifications for the events they submit using the Community form. Right now, the only notifications that can be enabled are for site administrators under Events > Settings > Community> Alerts.
I can see how that would be a handy feature and would encourage you to suggest it on our UserVoice page. We look there for popular ideas when considering new featured to add to future releases.
Sorry I don’t have a concrete solution to give you, but does that help answer your question?
Cheers!

MemberYeah, unfortunately we don’t currently support a way to change the template that the Community form uses. However, you should be able to use the conditional tags referenced in this post to include different elements on that specific page.
Geoff
MemberIt looks like you may have an additional closing brackets on the end there. Is that the case?
Geoff
MemberAh, I see. Thanks for clarifying. 🙂
Yes, if the calendar is using your theme’s default page template, then you want to create an additional template that utilizes a different sidebar. All calendar pages will use that template, but at least it will be formatted the way you want it and you can always create additional overrides for specific calendar view.
Thanks again for clarifying, that definitely helped. Let me know if I can help explain anything further.

MemberHowdy Dayla, thanks for getting in touch! Sorry you’re running into an issue with the custom template option, but let’s see if we can tackle it together. 🙂
Oftentimes, I see this sort of thing happen if the custom template is not set up to display posts. For example, the template might be set up to display page content instead and does not include a query for posts. That would certainly explain it.
One thing you could do is create a custom calendar page template based on the existing theme template you are trying to use. For that, I would suggest heading over to our Themer’s Guide for information on customizing the calendar templates, including an example of how it is done. The example is for the single-event.php template but you would follow the same steps for the template you would want to customize (e.g. month.php).
Another idea is to check out the Event Rocket plugin. It includes the ability to add a calendar to any page with a shortcode, which might also get you what you’re looking for. Just a heads up though that we don’t support that plugin, so please use with caution. 🙂
Does that make sense? Will that work for you? Please let me know.
Cheers!

MemberHi Tom, that will definitely work as well. 🙂
Just for clarification, the edit-event.php file is the template that you would override if you want to customize the layout for the Community Events submission page. The Themer’s Guide provides the steps for how to create an override in your theme directory rather than editing the core template itself.
Hope that helps. Is there anything else I can help explain or clarify? Thanks!

MemberHey there Massimo, welcome to the forums and getting in touch!
If I’m understanding correctly, then the author is also the author of the event, correct? That definitely requires some customization, but is certainly doable. I imagine your theme has an author.php file. You would want to include a query for the tribe_events post type and run a loop that displays that post type on the page.
You should be able to use the default WordPress get_posts() function for that and specifically identify tribe_events as the post type. We also have our own tribe_get_events() function that might be useful as well.
Does that make sense? Will that work for you? Please let me know.
Cheers!

MemberHi there, Michelle! Welcome to the forums and thanks for getting in touch. 🙂
Unfortunately, importing custom fields isn’t currently supported and I’m unaware of someone having built something like it. I would imagine it would be a complex customization, but I’d suggest checking out our Developer Docs if you want to try.
If this is a feature you’d like to see in an upcoming release, you might want submit it as an idea to our UserVoice page. We look there for popular ideas when planning future releases of our products.
Hopefully that helps to answer your question, but let me know if I can help further. 🙂

MemberHey there, Paulo! Unfortunately, we’re unable to assist with significant customizations. Your best bet is to use the documentation to build what you’re looking for, or to revert back to the plugin defaults to get the date separator functionality back in place.
Sorry I’m unable to give you the exact code you’re looking for, but that should definitely point you in the right direction. Let me know it if it does.
Thanks!

MemberHi there, Tom!
Yes, you can create a theme override for the edit-event.php template. This is the template Community uses for community events submissions. Check out our Themer’s Guide for a step-by-step on overrides, especially for creating custom template files.
Will that work for you? Please let me know.
Cheers!

MemberHi there Teri and thanks for getting in touch!
Great questions. Let’s tackle them one at a time.
Do they need to buy the Events Calendar PRO to use Community Events?
Community Events does not require PRO to work. However, PRO does unlock a couple of additional options, including:
- Default venue for submitted events:Â Makes the venue fields already pre-populated for users visiting the event submission form. Users can override this and add a new venue as they see fit.
- Default organizer for submitted events:Â Makes the organizer fields already pre-populated for users visiting the event submission form. Users can override this and add a new organizer as they see fit.
Do they have to pay the fee for each yearly?
The license allows access to plugin updates and support, but the plugin will continue to function after it expires.
Have you checked out our program for non profits? Depending on the type of non profit it is, it may qualify to get all our plugins for free. Definitely worth checking out. 🙂
Does this answer your questions? Please let me know.
Cheers!

MemberAs long as you’re putting “alle” in the “Date time separator” field under Events > Settings > Display, it should print as is (“alle”) instead of treating those as date formatting characters. Again, it looks like this is part of the theme override you noted earlier. You can bring the default functionality back by removing the overrides.
Are you able to remove the overrides? Otherwise, you’ll want to make some customizations to the tribe_events_event_schedule_details()Â function to get what you’re looking for.

MemberHi there Michael,
Will you please open a new thread for the search issue? I want to try to get to the bottom of the map issue in this thread. 🙂
Are you able to re-enable the Map View in Events > Settings > Display? It looks like it was turned off between threads and it would help to troubleshoot with it back on.
- Are you on a shared hosting plan? Sometimes the Google Maps API will stop working if the Google query limit has been exceeded and this can be a result of some shared hosts.
- Secondly, I suggest confirming that the venue addresses are complete and correct. You can try installing the Event Rocket plugin (not supported by us), which will display the latitude/longitude coordinates in a meta box in the venue editing screen. If the coordinates are not displaying or are incorrect, then that suggests Google’s API is not reading the data correctly.
- Lastly, do you see an option in the Events > General settings to build venue location data? Sometimes data for pre-existing venues can be lost when upgrading to the PRO plugin, and this option will help regenerate it.
Sadly, these are the only three options I have for you because of the lack of control we have with the Google Maps API. But give them a shot and let me know if they help out.
Thanks!
Geoff
MemberAwesome, glad that sorted it out!
I’m going to go ahead and close this thread, but please don’t hesitate to start a new one if another question pops up. Also, if you have a moment, we’d love for you to leave a review of the plugin. 🙂
Cheers!
September 17, 2014 at 8:48 am in reply to: Multiple Categories in the Advanced Upcoming Events Widget #748644Geoff
MemberHi Gabriel, thanks for getting in touch!
Great question. Yes, events can be filtered by both multiple categories and tags in the widget. Here’s a screenshot that shows the expanded filters. It allows you to select one category/tag at a time and remove them one by one as well.
Does that help answer your question? Please let me know!
