March 6, 2014 at 6:15 am in reply to: Your tutorial for adding required fields is outdated and wrong… #115718
Casey
Participantsciotomile,
Sorry to hear you’re having trouble here, but hopefully I can help. As you’ll notice at the top of the post, it just suggests that this tutorial is a starting place, and will need to be customized for each specific scenario. So, you’ll need to update the code to suit your specific needs, depending on which fields you’re making required. Does that make sense?I’d be glad to offer further guidance if needed. Thanks! 🙂

Participantsciotomile,
Thanks for getting in touch! We’re using a honeypot spam fighting technique on the Community Event Submission form, so you won’t actually see any elements on the page for this. I hope that helps to answer your question, but let me know if you have further questions. Thanks! 🙂-Casey-

ParticipantGreat! Thanks for confirming that this got you sorted. Since it looks like you’re all set, I’m going to mark this thread “Answered” and close it out.
By the way, if you have a minute or two, we would love it if you’d write a few words for us here: http://wordpress.org/support/view/plugin-reviews/the-events-calendar?filter=5
Thanks in advance. 🙂

Participantmedia7220,
Yes, you are correct on all of those items except for #2. You can select multiple categories for the Calendar widget by selecting items from the drop-down. Unfortunately, we don’t yet have this functionality in the list widget, but hope to implement it in a future release. Hope that helps clear things up for you. Thanks! 🙂-Casey-

ParticipantUnfortunately that’s something that our plugin doesn’t support out of the box, but that’s not to say you couldn’t do something like this with some CSS customization if you feel comfortable. Our support team is limited, and therefore can’t help with larger customizations like this one, but you should be able set the TD to a fixed width/height with CSS and then add ‘overflow:scroll’ which will give you the scrolling ability you’re looking for.
I haven’t tested this, so I’m sure there will be some odd behavior, but that should at least get you started in the right direction if you’re looking to make this customization. Good luck!
Thanks! 🙂

ParticipantMike,
Once a thread is marked as answered, our system closes it out immediately so no further replies can be given. I can open up your previous thread if you have further questions though. Just let me know. Thanks!-Casey-

Participantskipow,
Thanks for getting in touch! You can easily allow public event submissions like our WPShindig site, using the Community Events add-on. Take a look at all of the features there and let me know if you have further questions. Thanks! 🙂-Casey-

ParticipantSean,
We meet again! 🙂 I’d be glad to help you with this one. You should be able to paste this snippet into your theme’s functions.php file to remove the end time from the single event meta: https://gist.github.com/ckpicker/9368480Give that a shot and let me know if it does the trick! Thanks! 🙂

Participantchristchurchusa,
Sorry to hear you’re having trouble here, but hopefully I can help. I noticed that there are several javascript errors when viewing your site (screenshot). It looks like this is due to your theme loading the jQuery library twice (screenshot). Can you confirm that everything works correctly when you switch to the default 2013 theme?Casey
Participantbryancollege,
Thanks for getting in touch, and hopefully I can answer your questions here. You can modify how many events display per day in the ‘Display’ settings. Just go to ‘Events->Settings->Display’ and enter a number for the ‘Month View Events Per Day’ option (screenshot). In my environment, I’ve selected a max of 2 events to display, which results in the following: http://screencloud.net/v/hrmx.Give that a try and see if it accomplishes what you’re looking for. Thanks! 🙂

Participantamandaveeenhuis,
Thanks for reaching out! I’d love to help you out here. You should be able to add some jQuery to the page in order to add CSS classes to the appropriate elements, which you can then use for styling. Try adding something like this to your functions.php file: https://gist.github.com/ckpicker/9367837You’ll need to add a line for each option value that you want to target and customize the text that you’re searching for. Give that a shot and let me know if it does the trick. Thanks! 🙂

Participantmedia7220,
Again, sorry that everything isn’t working exactly like you’d like out of the box, but we do have extensive documentation and a themer’s guide so that you can extend and customize the plugin to suit your specific needs. Take a look there and see if that information helps you customize things to suit your needs. If these features are something you’d like to see in a future release, I would definitely suggest submitting them as ideas on our UserVoice page. Our team periodically reviews the most popular ideas for possible inclusion in a future release of the plugin.
If it were in my power, I would personally customize the plugin for every customer to suit their specific needs, but alas, that would be impractical and unsustainable with our small support team. I hope you understand, and I’d be happy to answer any further questions you might have.
Thanks so much! 🙂
