MemberHello eliasgarcia,
Thanks for contacting us!
I’m afraid that recommendation is beyond the scope of the forums. I’m not sure I can endorse either.
As far as compatibility is concerned, I haven’t tested them but I don’t see any reason why either would conflict with Community Events. The functionality of Community Events is to create a form for users and/or the public to submit events for posting, so that shouldn’t get in the way of any profile pages.
But perhaps I’m missing something, could give a bit more detail if my answer is insufficient?
Cheers!

MemberHello abovethestag,
Thanks for contacting us, this is a very interesting situation! I don’t believe I’ve ever heard this before.
Before submitting a support post, we ask users to deactivate all plugins and change to a theme like Twentytwelve, as a proven way to check for conflicts. By reactivating plugins one at a time, checking the problem with each activation, you can immediately find out where the conflict is. Otherwise, it is a difficult (impossible) guessing game.
Ideally, you could do this on a local, development, or staging environment. It’s possibly a little tedious, but it is the surest and most efficient way to get to the root of a complicated issue. We know this after years of combined experience troubleshooting technological problems of all shapes and sizes.
Can you confirm that you have deactivate your plugins and theme, to confirm the problem goes away? Please reactivate each piece, until the problem comes back. Please let us know which plugin causes the problem.
Also, in the WP-Admin, at the bottom of the Events > Settings > Help tab, there will be a ‘systems settings’ box. Can you copy that and paste it into a private reply?
Does this make sense? Let me know if I can explain anything else!
Cheers!

MemberHello astcit,
Thanks for contacting and thanks for your enthusiasm! We’d love it if you would leave us a review and let people know how much you like the plugin! http://m.tri.be/jt
I believe to change title of each view, the simplest thing is to use gettext to filter for ‘Events for’. This should keep the wording consistent for all views.
For the sidebar, it looks like you want to get rid of it? That setting you will find in the Events Settings > Display tab. Make sure ‘Events Template’ is set to ‘Default Events Template’ and it should have no sidebar.
Does this make sense? Let me know if this doesn’t work for you.

MemberHello Stacey,
Thanks for contacting us!
AppPresser looks really great, but we haven’t had time to test it out yet.
Personally, my gut says there should be no major conflicts. Some higher functionality might not work though, but I could be completely wrong.
We’d love it if you would try it out and report back! We’ll be taking a look here soon.
Cheers!

MemberHello billdailey,
Thanks for contacting us!
Unfortunately, ‘/’ chars play a major part in URL/permalink construction, so the ramifications are pretty big on this request.
You might try hyphens or underscores, but I believe that isn’t what you’re trying to accomplish. 🙁

MemberHello integrity,
Thanks for contacting us!
Typically, override help goes beyond the scope of the forums, but I think I know what the issue is.
If you check out the source to tribe_events_the_header_attributes(), you can see the data-title attribute is built there from the wp_title. So I believe not having it there removes it from the list when the tribe_events_header_attributes filter runs to create the title. I’ll double check with a dev to make sure this is right.

MemberHello aiabaltimore,
Thanks for contacting us!
This seems like an easy enough request, I’m surprised your current plugin isn’t sending out these event posts.
I installed and worked with the plugin a bit, and I think I might have an answer for you.
Officially, we cannot support this plugin. It is too old and cumbersome. I couldn’t even get it working on its own and it is beyond the scope of the forums.
However, if you edit the plugin file post_notification.php, starting on line 180, I think if you add the line
if($post->post_type == 'tribe_events') $notify = get_option('post_notification_send_default');it might work. You’ll have to play around.
Please make sure you have a recent backup of your site before you start! I’m assuming nothing bad will happen, but better to be safe than sorry.
I would maybe seek assistance on another forum. It seems like it would be easy to make happen, but unfortunately I cannot help further with this on these forums.

MemberHello jungermedia,
Thanks so much for waiting patiently. I remember your tweets from yesterday, we’ve just been swamped.
I’ll do my best to get this resolved soon, although ugly issues like this sometimes take more time.
If you have a database back up that is the fastest and most obvious solution.
Where are we sitting right now?
– Can you login to the admin?
– Do you still have 6000 duplicates? I see one particular recurring event called Upper Room Prayer & Counseling, but I think that is intentional.
– What is your host/server configuration? The bug appears because of a mysql time out on smaller machines with too many events.
– Do you have a developer/staging instance somewhere? It might be better to do this upgrade on a non-production siteUltimately, (while ugly) this is a relatively simple problem to solve, we just need to clean up the database.
To fix this, we need to do these steps, as you’re aware
– Install and activate The Events Calendar Pro 3.5.2
– Install and activate the cleanup plugin
– Run clean up plugin multiple times until the duplicates are goneLet me know where you are stuck right now and we’ll troubleshoot from there.
Thanks again for your patience!

MemberHello pbjpromotions,
If you check out our Themer’s Guide, you could probably make a template override to display what you want.
You should create an override file in your theme’s directory, so you can update safely.

Unfortunately that feature does not exist currently. You can display 2 events, but not random ones.

MemberHello Andrew,
Thanks for contacting us, you ask some great questions!
Unfortunately the short answer for each seems to be “no or kinda” for each.
If you have a moment, we’d love for you to submit your ideas to our UserVoice forum. We take user ideas and contributions very seriously, and many times their ideas end up in our future releases.
Here are more detailed explanations:
Featured Events
I plan on building a robust community events calendar for my county. I would love to be able to monetize the calendar by allowing event organizers to purchase sponsored event placement. These events would be placed above all other events in each view and would be styled to stand out from standard events. I would like to give organizers the ability to purchase sponsored placement both when entering their own events as well as the ability to upgrade any of their events which already exist on the site.Would you have a rough idea of the scope of work involved with something like this should I decide to bring in an experienced developer to assist? Would we be talking days or weeks to implement? Also, is this functionality in your roadmap?
There is no functionality like this built in. There is a ‘make sticky’ option, but that only keeps it above the cut off on month view, when there are more events than space.
This seems like it would be a highly requested feature, and an outside dev might be able to create a premium plugin. I’m not really sure on the timeline, though. I’m sure a minimum functional plugin could be made in a week or two, higher quality would take more.
Import options
I’m going to be dealing with hundreds of event listings from dozens of venues so naturally I would like to automate as much of the process as possible. I played with time.ly and I liked their automatic import from Google calendars and ical. Is anything along those lines in the works for TEC?
There is no way to import from Google Calendars or iCal yet, especially automatic. It’s all data though, so having a dev write a converter is relatively low hanging fruit. From a quick search there seems to be many ics -> csv converters online.
Claim event
If I use the community events add on, can event organizers claim and edit their events if they were initially created by an admin?
“Yes, kinda”. The user must have an account, with at least a role of ‘author’ or higher to edit. They cannot ‘claim’ events, but previously made events can be assigned to them by the owner. The new owner cannot see all events unless they are ‘editor’ though, but then they can change the data/authorship on every event.
I’m sure if a workflow was decided on, it would be relatively easy for a developer to create a plugin for users to ‘claim’ events.
Re import alterations
If event details change after the initial event publication will the altered details be updated in the calendar if I re-import through Facebook event imports and/or csv imports?
As far as I can tell, when data is re-imported through csv, the event is duplicated not overwritten. For Facebook, I believe the information is updated for automatic import, but overwritten for manual import. Basically if you are manually inserting data, it will always create a new event. All edits must go through the edit screen.
Genesis Support
I found some detailed documentation on your site about setting the plugin up to work on Genesis but it appeared to reference a previous version of the plugin. Is the calendar plug and play with Genesis, or are there specific steps that need to be taken to get it to work?
We currently don’t offer Genesis support, as there are known conflicts.

MemberHello Zubair and Yana,
Thanks for contacting us!
I believe the short answer to both of your questions is ‘Yes, kinda’.

You can create sub categories, and sub categories of similar name (although their slug will be different). You use a selector or checkbox system (you may want to style it according to need).
You can’t add the same filter ‘multiple times’ though. Each filter is unique and has its own slug/url. You can make the same label appear though, as my example shows Barbecue > Business and Concert > Business
