    Howdy oniregoc,

We have a full list of our capabilities here: Tribe Events Roles & Capabilities. We do indeed have read_private_tribe_events.

You might also just use the WP function is_user_logged_in() if your only goal is to prevent logged out users form seeing/editing the form.

    Does the answer your question?

    Cheers!

    Howdy Thomas,

You definitely are entitled. I can see that was not added automatically to your account. I would like to have an engineer look into why it wasn’t added automatically. Do you mind manually updating the second site for now (Plugin: Manual Update), while we investigate why you didn’t get the second license? Once the investigation is over I’ll add the second license with a few months extra to it. That work?

    Thanks for reporting this!

    Howdy Jenny,

I am sorry you are seeing errors on your site. That is likely stemming from a third party plugin, or perhaps your theme, not being compatible with version 4.0 of The Events Calendar yet. You have two options:

    1. Find what is not compatible, and then report it to the author of that plugin or theme. This guide walks you through how to test for a conflict, and then identify what is conflicting. Once you know what it is report it to the author and wait for them to release an update that fixes it. Or if you don’t want to wait you could then do the next option as well.
    2. Downgrade the plugins to version 3.12.x while you wait on the author of the other plugin, or your theme, to release an update.

I really wish that we could have avoided this error altogether. But in WordPress it is simply not possible for interdependant plugins to always be compatible with each other. When one updates the other must update too, and we are not always on the same update schedule. We do absolutely everything we can to notify other plugin and theme authors about upcoming updates, and work with them to get updates out. Further we try to limit the needs for those updates, and when they are necessary group them all into major versions (like the jump from 3.x to 4.x). But even still sometimes errors will crop up. It’s just the nature of WordPress.

Does that all make sense? Will that work for you? Please let me know.

    Cheers!

    Howdy Todd,

That is something that has been requested (click here). However, in the interest of laying all the cards on the table it has only received 10 supporters in a year. It will take a lot of man hours, maybe hundreds, to make ithemes support a reality. And to justify that investment we are going to need to see a lot more support for it.

Have you considered one of the more popular platforms? WooCommerce is the reigning king, and having used a variety of them myself it’s not hard to see why. It has a great interface, simple design, and most importantly of all is stable/secure.

    That answer your question?

Bennet, it sounds like we still need to update the page you purchased from. If you can still purchase WooCommerce somewhere then that is an accident, not a feature. I can definitely set you up with a refund if you prefer, or I can get you a proper copy of 3.12 for WooCommerce Tickets if that is your preferred version. To be up front though, I would not do that if I were in your shoes. Event Tickets is WooCommerce Tickets with a few new features and a new name. It shares basically all of the code and interfaces of WooCommerce. If your client liked WooCommerce Tickets, I doubt they will dislike the latest version of it which essentially is Event Tickets.

Does that answer your question? Do you mind if we continue this conversation in a new topic so we don’t spam Gary’s inbox with something not relevant to him?

    Thanks!

    Howdy Gary,

I am happy you asked. I actually want to clarify one thing, we basically have only seen two bugs since 4.0 went live:

    1. PHP errors will occur if you don’t update Community Events and The Events Calendar at the same time. The fix is to manually update the second one. Which sort of answers your question about the order to update in. The advice will always be to update everything simultaneously. Updating interdependant WordPress plugins one at a time is far more likely to cause bugs.
    2. Sometimes the_excerpt() shows a longer string than it should.

And that’s basically it. The first one is a pretty big deal and we are sad we did not catch it. Update bugs can be some of the hardest to catch. But the point is that 4.0 is actually quite stable, especially for a large release. Some bugs are unfortunately inevitable in big pieces of software, but we are working hard to patch them and will likely have a patch out in the middle of next week. We have had a lot of forum activity, but as far as bugs go those are basically the only two 4.0 introduced that have been reported thus far.

As far as when to update, the only advice I can really share there is my personal update strategy that applies to every piece of software I use: unless I need the new features now wait a few weeks to see if a hotfix or minor release is out. In our case there will definitely be one, maybe two for 4.0. I just like to err on the side of caution with these things. But, most people update long before then and the extreme majority (+99%) of people already on 4.0 are not seeing any issues that they’ve reported to us.

    Does that answer your question?

    Cheers!

    Howdy Jessica,

We have not yet had the resources to tackle recurring tickets. It is tentatively slotted for our next major release (4.1) but we have not yet finished scoping out how it will work. Which means that it could easily take more time than we’re currently guessing and thus not be ready for our current guesstimate.

    That answer your question?

    Howdy Ric,

If you have input a license key for Pro in WP-Admin > Events > Settings > Licenses, then you can update it automatically via the WP Admin plugin updates screen just like you update The Events Calendar.

An alternate method of updating is a Plugin: Manual Update.

Really either one should work. Does that answer your question?

    Cheers!

    Howdy onelittlemoose,

Thank for sharing this backstory on what is going on here. I read through everything.

I am sorry if things were a bit unclear. As Josh and George have said this is something we have logged but have not fixed. I just double checked the status of this ticket and indeed it is still pending an upcoming release. It has had a fairly low impact in that it has so far only affected a tiny subset of people, so it was marked as a lower priority than bugs that affected more folks.

I just prodded our strategist to see if he has a better idea of when this will be fixed, now that 4.0 is released. I am sure he will email me back soon. But for now the only update I have is basically what Josh said “We’ll notify you here as we make progress on this one.”

Thanks again for reporting this bug and your patience while we fix it. In a world with infinite resources we would have loved to have fixed it the day it was reported. But of course that’s not our world and so we have to prioritize things, which means timelines. But I just did my best to get this one bumped up if at all possible. I will get back to you with any developments.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Cheers!

    Howdy 2ndwing,

Welcome to the forums. It’s nice to meet you.

On that website you linked me to I am seeing a list of events. I do see the archive title as well. The title there is going to ceom from your theme. The Events page is what’s called in WordPress a Custom Post Type Archive page. And so your theme is set to recognize when an archive page is being shown, and have the title read “Archive”. To change this you will need to contact the theme author, as each theme is different and the code you will need to change will be in a different place for every theme.

I see what you mean about things being pretty gray. Perhaps our new color customizer could help here (click for a guide)? Does that seem like what you’re looking for?

    Cheers!

    Howdy Tammy,

I would love to help you with this. That is not an issue I have seen. You can see here that version 4.0 does have the same responsive mobile calendar: http://wpshindig.com/events/

It is likely that the reason you were not seeing it on your site is because of a conflict between the latest version and something on your site, probably with your theme. Running 3.12 is a good idea while you wait for a fix. We are planning to support 3.12 for a while because we want to give theme and plugin authors time to update their plugins to support 4.0. But, they will need reports from users like you letting them know things are broken so they can begin work on fixes. Later on when you update to 4.0 again, if you continue seeing an issue try doing a before you downgrade to 3.12. This guide walks you through how to test for a conflict, and then identify what is conflicting. Once you know what is conflicting, let the author of the plugin or theme know so that they can fix it.

    Does that all make sense?

    Cheers!

Thank you for sharing your system info, that revealed the culprit. You are actually on version 3.12.5 of The Events Calendar (but 3.12.6 of Pro). You should update The Events Calendar to 3.12.6 and the fix container therein should set you up. https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/the-events-calendar.3.12.6.zip

Note, I have reason to believe this bug was reeintroduced in 4.0. *sigh* The reason for that has to do with our version control. For now if I were you I would stick to the latest versions of 3.12.x. This should be patched for good here shortly in 4.0 hotfix.

Thanks for your patience. Does updating to 3.12.6 fix things for you?

    Cheers!

    Howdy Sascha,

The bare URL would just be:

    '/events/community/delete/'.get_the_ID()

However, for security reasons it uses a wp_nonce. So you would to add a nonce to the bare URL: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Nonces

Without the nonce it will say “you don’t have permission to perform this action” and generate an error.

    Cheers!

I will Terri, thanks. I think that anyone with an issue is sufficient. But, just oy be completely clear, can you let me know the names of the events that are seeing this problem? I want to be sure I’m looking in the right place.

    Cheers!
