October 27, 2014 at 7:38 am in reply to: Does the User Submission add-on require the pro version? #840563
Brian
MemberHi Sherri,
Thanks for Interest in our Community Events Add On. My comments are below yours:
I understand I will need to buy the add-on for users to submit events, but will I need the pro version as well?
No you do not need to buy Pro. You only need Pro if you would like the features Pro has. However, the map view is a Pro only feature, an example is on this page of the Map View:
http://wpshindig.com/events/map/
However, without Pro all Event’s still have a Map of their location in the Single View.
And you can submit an Event Image with the Community Events as well as set new submissions to draft or pending approval.
Let me know if that answers your questions.
Thanks
Brian
MemberDuncan,
Hi, I can help troubleshoot this.
Do you have a Pro Account and if so can you please post under that account in the Pro Forum for this issue.
If you do not, please post on our WordPress Plugin Support Page:
It does sounds like a Javascript Conflict so I would recommend trying our Testing for Conflicts Guide:
https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation/testing-for-conflicts/
Brian
MemberI am afraid this is the only way we can provide support on our plugins.
We have a list of developers that we can send you if you email pro(at)tri.be
You maybe to hire one of them to help you.
You can also post on our WordPress.org page and ask if anyone has a solution there as more of the community sees those posts.
Or post to WordPress Stack Exchange and see if someone has a solution there:
http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/
Another option is to search for Github and see if there is a solution there as well.
That is about all I can think of right now.

MemberHi William,
See my answers below:
I my biggest concern when testing for conflict is when I switch themes will the way the active theme is configured be lost?
The WordPress Settings do not change when changing themes. I think the theme settings should not change, but that depends on your theme so I cannot say for sure.
The Widgets will get moved around as it sounds like you have custom widget areas.
I would recommended backing up your site before testing for conflicts either way.
If you cannot change themes are you able to create a “staging” site where you can do tests there?
I am afraid this is a necessary step to narrow down the issue and cannot be skipped.
Let me know what you find out.
Thanks

MemberHi thanks for replying back.
I get what you are saying, so I will put in a feature question in your ticket system and see if the developers have a solution.
There is not much else I can do with this right now, do you have any other information or questions related to this let me know.
Thanks
Brian
MemberHello,
I am afraid that is beyond the support we can provide. We can help answer questions, but providing the whole coding is beyond our terms of service.
I can provide two locations where you can find the functions for event details and that should make it easier to build the loop.
Event Start Date
Look in this file for the different start date and time functions.\the-events-calendar\views\modules\meta\details.php
Venue Name
Look in this file for more venue related functions.\the-events-calendar\views\modules\meta\venue.php
This is the one that gets the Venue Name:
tribe_get_venue()Event Name
You should be able to use this function from WordPressget_the_title()And this page has an example of a custom post type loop:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Types
And again this is the custom post type you will need to use:
tribe_eventsThat is about all I can provide you will have to take it from here to build the loop exactly how you would like it.

MemberJosh,
Thanks for purchasing the Events Calendar Pro. I am afraid the only option to change the page would be using conditionals on your theme’s templates to hide certain sections.
Here is a good list of conditionals for Event Calendar Pages:
https://gist.github.com/jo-snips/2415009
There are no other options to embed the Calendar Views without major customization. And that is something for the most part is beyond the support we can provide on the forums.
Also, for future reference please create a new ticket when you have any issue or question even if related to another ticket. We can provide better support for you on your own ticket instead of through another customers.
Let me know if you have any follow up questions.
Thanks
Brian
MemberGreat, glad it helps, I am going to go ahead and close this ticket, but if you need any other on something else please post a new ticket.
Thanks!

MemberI understand you do not want the Event List on other pages, but please add as test and then remove it from the Sidebar and see if it works in the sidebar area. That will help narrow down the issue.
Also, please confirm you have deleted the current Event List Widget on the home page and added a new one without changing any settings and see if that fixes anything.

MemberSince there is has not been any activity on this thread for over 2 weeks so I am now closing it. Feel free to start a new thread if you have further issues. Thanks! 🙂
Also, the latest version 3.8.1 should have taken care of most of these changes.
