OK, well please do post in UserVoice and we’ll definitely consider it. Speaking for myself, I don’t find this unintuitive at all but we’re absolutely open to feedback and hopefully other users can weigh in.

I would add as a final note, if we decide not to press ahead with a change here you could certainly change the layout and nature of that control by customizing it – so that’s always an option.

No, there is no information in any of those pages about where to put overrides for the FILTER BAR.

You’re right, but it basically follows the same pattern as every other plugin – with a slight different in this case insofar as the templates aren’t namespaced. To give you a real life example, you would might simply copy views/filter-bar-vertical.php (from the plugin directory) across to tribe-events/filter-bar-vertical.php (within your theme directory).

We’ll try to improve the docs in this regard, but does that give you enough to work on for the time being?

The “Filter Bar documentation” link on the bottom of the Filter Bar New User Primer (https://tri.be/support/documentation/filter-bar-new-user-primer/) goes to the main documentation menu, where Filter Bar is not listed. Is there documentation for the Filter Bar that can be found somewhere?

That seems to have been linked up prematurely – and those docs have not yet been generated. Apologies for that, that was completely our fault.

I’ve made a note on the issue tracker so this should be done in due course (though, the technical docs are simply generated from comments within the plugin code – so effectively you have access to the same information already which is geared toward developers) and I’ve removed that note from the new user primer so as not to trip up other users.

So a big thank you for reporting that!

Do you have any other questions re Filter Bar customizations/the mechanics of overriding those templates?

I’ll go ahead and close this as it’s been a few weeks now, but if we can help with anything else please do go ahead and create a new thread. Thanks!

Hi! I’m sorry first of all that you are hitting these issues, we definitely want to help you out here if we can.

After around 5 minutes, that site reverted back to the error. I have disabled all other plugins, and are running the default theme

My suspicion is that this is indeed stemming from a conflict with another plugin. I appreciate you carrying out the above steps but it looks like there are still a few other things which remain activated besides our own plugins, such as Srizon Facebook Album 1.1.4 by afzal_du, Contact People Ultimate 1.0.5 by A3 Revolution Software and possibly some others (Jetpack?).

Can you deactivate those so that there is quite literally just WordPress, our plugins and a default and unmodified theme running? Can you then visit the Settings → Permalinks admin screen – you don’t need to change or save anything, visiting it is sufficient to cause WordPress to “flush” the permalinks – then see if the currently 404ing single event pages work.

Assuming they do, please try leaving things like that for an hour or so – let’s see if this problem comes back. If it does not, let’s start reactivating the other components.

Is that possible here? Certainly if there is a conflicting item, and we can isolate it, we can begin to build a better picture of when and why this happens at a technical level.

    Thanks!

While we don’t support this by default, the plugin is highly customizable and you can certainly add pretty much any piece of information you like to the tickets. Please do take a look at our Themer’s Guide which provides a high level overview of this – and we’d certainly welcome and consider any feature requests you might make for future releases.

    Does that help?

    Hello Leanne, great question.

I see no reason why you couldn’t customize things to achieve what you want – however you and the WooThemes team are quite correct that WooCommerce Tickets doesn’t “natively” support this sort of workflow (at least it wasn’t an intentional design goal). So, at this time, it’s really something you would have to drive forward yourself as a customization.

With that said, we’d certainly welcome any feature requests you might post along these lines.

    Thanks!

    Hi!

Sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties.

I actually can’t locate any events on your calendar, even in /2014-03/ – can you confirm if I’m looking in the correct place/if you’ve since removed your events?

    Thanks!

Hi Helen, thanks for following up.

Please read this:::: Well, I understand this, but do you see the position I am in — I don’t want to upgrade to the pro version unless I can have an actual GUARANTEE that this problem will be resolved

I am afraid we cannot provide you with any guarantees. You are welcome to post in the relevant section of the wordpress.org forums and, if you purchase a license key, you are also more than welcome to post here on our own Modern Tribe forums – it’s important to understand a few things though:

    • We are not going to provide free technical support here in pre-sales, that isn’t what the pre-sales forum is for
    • The level of support we can provide over in the wordpress.org forums is naturally limited – simply because we don’t have unbounded resources – that said, other members of the community may be more than happy to help you out and of course as a fellow member of the community you in turn may be able to help some of them 🙂
    • We’d be delighted if you do purchase a license key for Events Calendar PRO and will do our best to support you: that does not mean we guarantee being able to resolve the issues you posted here in pre-sales earlier in the week

I hope you understand our position here and agree that it is reasonable – thanks again for contacting us and for trying out The Events Calendar.

    Hi @goettezinho,

    Thanks for the question.

I’ve no doubt you can accomplish something like what you want here in terms of parcelling up event data and serving it in JSON format, but that is unfortunately beyond what we can guide you through here.

    Sorry we can’t do more.

Hi! Sorry to hear you are having difficulties. Just to confirm, you can’t replicate this problem with the start/end times being stuck at 12am either?

    Hi Davide,

Sorry for the delay – and it’s great to hear you like the plugin!

the event list widget works fine if flag the “Hide from List Event”. I wish the event is displayed in the calendar. If active options the “Forever visible calendar” event you see are in the mini calendar widget ok, I wish that the event is also seen in the monthly calendar. And ‘possible to make this change?

Can we break this down a little? I’m not sure I understand. It sounds like you are describing a couple of different problems here. Can we start with the list widget? Can you also confirm that the issues still occur even with all other plugins deactivated and only a default, unmodifed theme running?

And possible to assign a category to a different background color for easy viewing?

Sounds like something you could do perhaps with just a little CSS. Check out our Themer’s Guide – for any other questions though, please post a new thread.

    Thanks!

That definitely doesn’t sound right :-/

Can you confirm which version of The Events Calendar you are using? That piece of text is not even within our 3.x codebase to the best of my knowledge.

Every now and again we do come across other themes/plugins which bundle their own (sometimes out of date) copy of The Events Calendar, and so you should also try deactivating all other plugins and switching to a default them to check if this behaviour persists – though making sure your copies of our plugins are up-to-date ought to be the first priority here.

    Does that help?

    Hi – great questions!

    1. If Im importing CSV data into event_start_date/event_end_date, what is the correct date format? Is it “YYMMDD”? Is it “YY-MM-DD”? Four letters for year, “YYYY-MM-DD”? Relatedly, whats the proper import format for time, event_start_time / event_end_time?

It’s pretty tolerant and actually accepts any valid date, time or compound date/time format as specified here. A format like yyyy-mm-dd (such as 2014-02-04 for 4th February 2014) is certainly going to be valid and 24hr times expressed in hh:mm format (such as 13:00 for 1pm) will similarly be a valid format choice.

    2. Whats the field name for a featured image? Can it accept a url already stored on my server in my uploads dir?

Currently that is not supported; but please do post a feature request if you feel it would be a worthy feature – we’ll certainly consider it 🙂

    Does that answer your questions?

    Hi Mike,

Sorry to hear you are experiencing problems. It sounds like perhaps you are trying to create actual WordPress pages with a slug of events – is that correct? If so, that is the wrong way to set things up for The Events Calendar as we don’t actually use those types of page to house the calendar.

Instead, you can define the slug for single and archive event views in our settings page at Events → Settings → General (the Events URL Slug and Single Event URL Slug fields).

Does that clarify things / am I misunderstanding?

    Let me know!
