MemberI appreciate your frustration, but we simply can’t guard against every eventuality with every combination of theme and plugin.
That said, as above, we are going to look into some title issues that we can replicate without other plugins/non-standard themes. I can’t say whether that will resolve the particular issues you are facing, which sound like they are highly specific to your own installation and may therefore boil down to integration issues rather than being the result of bugs per se.
Nevertheless β we canβt spend any more time on this.
That being the case I’ll go ahead and close this thread. Sorry we couldn’t get closer to a resolution for you in this instance.

MemberOK, so, it looks to me like the problem is the result of a customization: if you’re not aware of having implemented any changes (and haven’t asked someone else to do so on your behalf) then perhaps it is a custom template that shipped with your theme, or perhaps it is actually a side effect of something else like another plugin?
I realize you noted having tried some of these steps already, but I think it could be worth running through these in full:
- Please deactivate all other plugins except for The Events Calendar/Events Calendar PRO
- Switch to a default, unmodified theme such as Twenty Twelve or Twenty Thirteen
- Does the problem occur now?
- Assuming for the moment the problem is gone, start reactivating everything
- Every time you reactivate something check month view and see if the problem has returned (if so, note whichever plugin/theme was just reactivated – that will probably be the source of the conflict)
Is that possible here?

MemberOK, thanks (I think first time the system info was caught in our spam filter, apologies for that). So I’m seeing Custom Post Type Permalinks being flagged up there and we know this has caused this very problem for another customer.
Can we revisit our standard troubleshooting steps:
- Deactivate all other plugins (particularly Custom Post Type Permalinks)
- Switch to a default, unmodified theme
- Refresh the permalink settings as before
- Now see if that event URL has been restored and works as expected
If that doesn’t solve it I’m not sure what to suggest, this isn’t something I can really see happening ‘organically’ as a result of our plugins own operations.

MemberHmm – and to confirm, this happens even if no other plugins besides The Events Calendar/Events Calendar PRO are active (and with just a default theme in place)? Are there any particular operations such as searches you are conducting that seem to lead to it?
Barry
MemberDefinitely puzzling.
I appreciate your reluctance to deactivate security plugin, but simultaneously it’s not impossible that they are conflicting. If you still prefer not to include these in the troubleshooting steps can you approach this by creating a fresh WordPress installation: start only with our plugins and a default theme – check if everything works – and build things up by adding the same theme and plugins as on your live site – checking at each stage to see if the problem has started on this fresh site.
Is that possible here?

MemberSorry we missed your post, sactomofo (in future it is best to create new threads of your own as some quirks in our forum tools have meant that only updates by the original author will be flagged up to us).
This should have been resolved in our very latest hotfix, though, so please do ensure you have updated both plugins.

MemberI’ll close this to further replies, but we’ll reopen to post updates as and when we’ve got something to report π

MemberThis thread’s not seen much activity for the last couple of weeks so I’ll go ahead and close it. Of course if you still need help with this or any other issue please don’t hesitate to create a new thread (or threads) and one of the team will be only too happy to help. Thanks!
Barry
MemberOK: editing core files like this is a sure way to lose changes when you update. What I’d recommend is setting things up via template overrides/custom stylesheets within your theme – our Themer’s Guide explains some of the best practices here.
Does that help?
Barry
MemberI’m sorry to hear that π
To confirm, does this happen even if no other plugins are activated and only a default theme is in use? Are you able to access your error log and/or use the Debug Bar plugin with your WordPress site in WP_DEBUG mode and see if any pertinent errors are flagged up?
Barry
MemberHi! Can you give a few more details – do you mean you want to change the title on a specific events page? Please also take a look through the Themer’s Guide if you haven’t already done so, it might answer a few questions you have.
Barry
MemberWe don’t have any specific settings in that regard I’m afraid – but it sounds like a really great feature request. If you’re happy to post a request we’ll definitely consider it π
Barry
MemberI’m sorry you’re hitting difficulties.
- Can you confirm which versions of our plugins you are using?
- Have you updated them recently and does this appear to you to have been triggered by such an update (if so, what did you update from and to)?
Barry
MemberI’m sorry to hear that. Which version did you update from and have you reviewed the Themer’s Guide to see what might have changed? Are there any specific examples of problems you can share?
Barry
MemberHmm, puzzling – I guess the first thing to do here is to figure out under what conditions the secondary menu displays. Are you able to touch base with the theme author and check if it is subject to certain criteria?
