ParticipantHi,
I am trying to figure out a situation where I can include the full Events Calendar (Pro, 3.4.1) month view into a page template that will also allow me to populate other content on the page via custom fields. It seems that the standard functionality is that The Events Calendar will grab a page template but won’t actually grab the custom field data or content from a page set up in the WordPress back-end that has the same slug as that set for the “Events URL slug”. In my case, I want the calendar to be on the page but to have additional content on the page as well that can be set by the user in the WordPress back-end.
As such, is there a way to embed the full events calendar functionality into a page template that is used by a page managed in the back end? Thanks for your help!

That is indeed expected behaviour. Right now the ability to add full views via shortcodes is a much requested but not currently implemented feature: please do feel free to add your support for this over on our UserVoice page, though. While already a popular request more voices in favour is certainly no bad thing 🙂
You can embed full views, though, using tribe_get_view(). The caveat is that you must also ensure the view is supported by the presence of the same Javascript and CSS assets that would normally be present – for that reason this is currently deemed an advanced customization that, while open for you to explore, is not something we can assist with.

ParticipantHi Barry,
That is kindof sad :(. I commented on this thread: http://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas/suggestions/3735284-ability-to-pull-calendar-to-page-with-shortcodes. There a sweet third-party plugin, “Event Rocket”, mentioned in that thread that handles all except the display of the full calendar which is what I happen to need. It seems like such an obvious core feature that should be available. If MT doesn’t want to build it in, you should at least provide some idea of how one would go about loading the dependencies to make that work. Unless I’m missing something, it was really hard to find any information on that in the documentation.March 27, 2014 at 6:37 am #123732Barry
MemberI don’t think we do have a great deal of documentation on this right now – it is, currently, an advanced customization and you’d really need solid development skills (and be able to determine what the required enqueued assets are yourself) to make this happen.
We definitely realize this isn’t idea and we do plan to address this either through documentation or perhaps further functionality will be written, trialled and rolled out in some form.
That to say – know that we understand this is an important goal to you and other users and we are aiming to do something to help here – we just can;t help out in the short term in threads like this one.

MemberThis thread’s not seen much activity for the last couple of weeks so I’ll go ahead and close it. Of course if you still need help with this or any other issue please don’t hesitate to create a new thread (or threads) and one of the team will be only too happy to help. Thanks!
