April 21, 2014 at 2:20 pm in reply to: how to use tribe_get_events_title() on non-plugin-based template files? #138796
Barry
MemberYeah, unfortunately in those circumstances it will not magically be updated – you’d need to do some extra work.
You might for instance modify the ajax response to include the correct title (whether by adding an extra property to the JSON response or something sneaky like keeping the code to echo out the title within the events template – but do so within the attribute of a hidden input element, or something of that order) and cause your own title element to be updated from there.
This is very much customization territory, though, so we’ll have to leave it to you to iron out the details. Good luck!

MemberI’m sorry to hear that. What I’ll do in that case is close this thread – once you’re in a position to look at this again please don’t hesitate to create a new thread and let us know ๐
Thanks again and sorry for the inconvenience.

MemberHi Kerry: can you create a test site – this can be as simple as installing WordPress in a subdirectory within the same hosting environment – and initially activate only our plugins (the most recent versions) and nothing else. Create some events and see if the same problem occurs there.
- If you immediately hit on the same problem – let us know!
- If there is no problem, add the same plugins (and theme) as you have on your live site – now create some new events and check to see if the problem has manifested itself here
Let me know how you get on ๐

MemberNo problem ๐

MemberWe’d love to help further, but I’m afraid there just isn’t enough to go on here: unless there’s evidence of a bug, sadly, I don’t think we are going to be able to do much.
Barry
MemberOK – you’d have to make some pretty drastic customizations in that case and I’m afraid we can’t assist with that. What you could consider though is using Community Events and customizing the relevant template that generates the list of categories (which is far more readily achievable than is doing the same thing here) so that they can only select venues that are already in existence.
I hope that helps ๐

MemberIf you want to revert you can – please do bear in mind you’ll also potentially be reintroducing previous bugs if you do so, and we will be able to offer only very limited support. However, you can grab historic versions if that is what you want to do by visiting this page and this page.
Iโm sure sheโd be fine with waiting a couple of weeks, but if itโs going to be months or years, weโre going to have to either fix it ourselves or find another calendar.
I appreciate your position but we can’t offer any guarantees here, I’m afraid. We generally strive to turn out maintenance releases on a monthly basis, but that is a rough guide and is subject to change.
I hope that clarifies things but please let me know if you have further questions on this one (for any other issues, of course please just create a new thread) ๐

MemberYou could certainly try that snippet, yes: I can’t really predict how long it would take to run unfortunately as besides how fast the actual database operations are going to be (and nothing outrageous is really happening on that front) it also hinges on querying Google via HTTP for geolocation data – and though that’s normally pretty fast it does vary quite a bit.
If you’re able to run it at a suitably quiet time that could be best.

MemberI am having the exact same problem FWIW.
I’m sorry to hear that – please do create a new thread of your own if you need further assistance – one of the team will be only too happy to assist.
Iโm sorry but I canโt deactivate the plugins or change back to the other theme since this is a live site. Iโm curious as to why the week view is the only one not working.
We are too! Those steps are the best way to isolate any conflicts, though, so perhaps if you cannot do this on a live site you could set things up in a duplicate test site? It could even be formed within a subdirectory in your existing hosting environment.
Let me know if that’s possible ๐
April 21, 2014 at 11:12 am in reply to: Events Calendar import from Facebook and different time zones #138655Barry
MemberI definitely understand that – and would recommend posting a feature request here (or else add your support to any suitable existing requests).
Facebook Events aside, though, at this time The Events Calendar itself doesn’t natively support events in multiple timezones, so for truly smooth integration this would require changes to more than just Facebook Events itself: not that it’s impossible by any means, but just to indicate that it is not absolutely trivial to solve.
Please do post your request on UserVoice though – we’ll definitely look into it ๐
Barry
MemberHmm, is it possible you have a customization in place that would be causing this (perhaps added to your theme’s functions.php file)? If for instance you deactivate all other plugins and switch to a default, unmodified theme does the same thing happen?
Barry
MemberOK, thanks for sharing that. I can’t actually replicate this, unfortunately, when I try to do so locally. Pagination operates as expected in this regard. Have any customizations been made? Could another plugin be in itself impacting on your theme (keeping our plugins and your theme active but disabling everything else – so a slight variation on our normal troubleshooting steps – could be worth a spin here)?
Barry
MemberHi Kerry:
I’m sorry you’ve had such a rough ride here.
Also, by deactivating all of the plug inโs it has TOTALLY messed up my entire website, causing probably hours of work now to try to fix, the main problem, I am not a web developer!!! Just someone running a website!
We’re really sorry for the inconvenience. These are fairly standard troubleshooting steps, however, and generally speaking simply reactivating the relevant plugins and your theme gets things back on track with only a few small tweaks – if anything – being required to restore things.
That said, if you’re running a live and busy site then avoiding disruption by carrying out this work at a quiet time – or by working on a duplicate testing site – is highly advisable.
PLEASE HELP ME, I have deleted my cashe too and reinstalled again, still no difference!
That’s very puzzling. On visiting your calendar though I seem able to navigate through to the vast majority of single event pages. Is this only a problem in a few select cases? If so, can you try re-saving or recreating the affected events?
Barry
MemberExcellent, yes the body_class() function would definitely need to be present to avoid issues here – glad you figured things out ๐
I’ll go ahead and close this thread. Of course if we can assist with anything else please don’t hesitate to create new threads as needed.
Thanks!
Barry
MemberI don’t believe the customer themselves can trigger a re-send (at least not without some extra customization) – but please see Casey’s answer here with regards to an admin resending tickets: does that help?
