MemberHi Jon,
Thanks for highlighting this and I’ll be sure to let George know.
You’re absolutely correct and I have made a change in our own code which – all things being equal – should go out in the next release for The Events Calendar.
Thanks again!

MemberHi Andrew,
You haven’t shared your system information but I wonder if you could visit Events → Settings → Display and ensure that month view is enabled.
Once it is enabled you can then either make it your default view for events, or else you can navigate there via a URL such as …/events/month/.
Does that help? If it doesn’t could you share your system information via private reply?
Thanks!

MemberHi @integrity,
Thanks for the question. The first thing I have to highlight is that we can’t go into too much depth with custom development questions like this one, but I’d be happy to explore it a little and hopefully get you pointed in the right direction π
The second thing I would highlight is that the documentation that comes with Advanced Post Manager (which I think you have based your own code upon) isn’t really geared toward helping you manipulate the filters added by Events Calendar PRO: rather these are general purpose instructions that can help you add filters to any post type, regardless of whether Events Calendar PRO is activated or not.
In this case, your code is creating a second APM object for the same post type, hence the second set of filters. APM isn’t really designed to accommodate that scenario, exactly, and I think in any case you are interested in modifying and extending the APM object that Events Calendar PRO creates.

Does the above help at all in showing an alternative way to approach this?

MemberHi Mike,
Thanks for posting and I’m sorry to hear you have hit up against some difficulties.
Unless I’m mistaken, there is a good chance that what you are experiencing is actually the “expected behaviour” insofar as your theme, Enfold, purposefully removes access to various event-related settings.
All I can really suggest if you’re unhappy with this is approaching the Enfold support crew and ask for assistance in undoing this customization – since it’s something they are doing deliberately it is best to follow their advice for undoing this (they can hopefully highlight a means of disabling this behaviour that is not lost when next you update the theme).
I hope that helps and let me know how you get on π

MemberMy pleasure π
I’ll go ahead and close the topic in that case, but of course if you do need further help on this or anything else you can always create a new topic.
Thanks again!

MemberI’m glad to hear that — and appreciate you taking the time to break out the recurrence URL problem into a separate topic where George will be able to assist further.

MemberMatt: returning to the original issue you referenced – Unknown column ‘EventStartDate’ in ‘order clause’ – can you confirm if you are still hitting this?
Seems like quite the coincidence these issues arise after importing the data from the old site- using the same versions and files as the previous.
It may not be coincidence. If it is in fact related, we should have a good chance of finding the root cause by focusing on the original problem. However, it’s also possible that this was a pre-existing set of problems that for one reason or another didn’t manifest themselves until post-migration.
August 17, 2015 at 9:05 am in reply to: How to get the right format / url for events at ical and google #996619Barry
MemberHi Bill,
It’s definitely puzzling – especially as, in general, other users just don’t seem to be hitting up against these kinds of problems.
For all of these URLs, I can confirm that I (and a colleague using a different machine/setup) were able to find events successfully:
- http://contracostabee.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/US-Holidays1.ics
- http://contracostafair.com/event/gun-show-2/?ical=1&tribe_display=
- http://www.webcal.fi/cal.php?id=188&format=ics&locationname=San+Jose&lat=37.339389801&lon=-121.894958496&tempunit=c&speedunit=mps&color=%23C9DAF8&cntr=&lang=en&rid=wc
I can’t speak to the metope download as I’m not actually sure what you are referring to there, however at this time all of the above seem to contain one or more valid events and we have no problems importing from them.
I cannot figure out what my ISP would have to do with this. As it may not recognize or be allowing the webcam:// format or the other or url forms
It sounds like you were pretty diligent in deactivating other plugins, etc, when you ran through our troubleshooting steps. However, I think I am correct in thinking your host is a managed WordPress hosting service and sometimes we find they have added a special type of plugin that you cannot deactivate.
Do you notice on visiting the plugin admin page if there are any “must-use” plugins listed? For instance, you might see something like this near the top of the screen:
All (23) | Active (7) | Inactive (16) | ... | Must-Use (1)
Do you see a “must-use” entry? If so and you click on that link, what is actually listed there? Can you check in with your host about the possibility of temporarily disabling this or inquire about what sort of code this contains – might it include an upload_mimes filter for example?

MemberHi Matt,
If I make a new topic Iβm going to copy/pasting information from above creating redundancy.
In terms of sharing information such as system information or HTTP credentials, you need only link back to this topic and highlight that your previously shared details are in there (unless of course you know them to have changed, in which case just post fresh and up-to-date details): all staff members have the ability to see the content of private replies so there is no issue there.
Iβm having an another problem as well. Should I make a third ticket? I just donβt think that makes a ton of sense since these could all be related.
If you have another problem, yes, definitely do create a new ticket.
It’s the fastest way for us to help you and keeping things compartmentalized prevents a lot of confusion. Remember, opening a new ticket and linking back to this one if you want to share details isn’t something that should be too arduous.
From experience we’re generally pretty good at determining when issues should be split apart and when they shouldn’t. While I am in no way suggesting we always get it right, our aim is ultimately to help you as quickly and efficiently as we can (even if it initially seems like a lot of work to create a new topic, it really isn’t and what we’re suggesting is what we believe will get you the best result).
The past issues, dev logins and history are all relevant to ongoing issues with your plugin. For all I know they are entirely related.
They may be, but I suspect not. Here’s what I suggest: if you do want to progress troubleshooting work on the database error you originally cited, let’s do that here (are you still encountering that?).
For other issues, such as concerns about the event URL containing the incorrect date (I don’t actually see the event/URL you mentioned when I visit your site, however) or for any other problems, please create new topics – sticking to our suggested policy of one question per forum topic wherever possible.
Thanks again.
Barry
MemberSure thing.

MemberHi Bill,
OK – it would be fantastic if you could as there does seem to be a big discrepancy between what each of us finds when trying to import from a number of those URLs and – just given the lack of other reports in a similar vein it does feel like something that is either the result of a local conflict/some kind of problem with the hosting environment.
Of course, it might not be, but it seems sensible to eliminate that possibility.

MemberHi Thomas,
Could you tell us when the update is planed ?
We’re unable to guarantee a specific date or version (as – on rare occasions – unexpected issues can delay even fixes like this one) however if all goes to plan our very next release, which is in the final stages of preparation at this point, ought to contain the fix.
Again, I’m regrettably unable to offer you a specific or even tentative date for this – but do know that we’re doing our very best to deliver it as quickly as we can π

MemberHi Matt,
I’m sorry to hear that.
Unless I’m misunderstanding, this seems like a quite separate issue from that you originally posted about.
With that in mind, would you be able to open a fresh topic? One of the team will be only too happy to help as quickly as they can (it would also avoid you encountering any further delay since I’m actually “off duty” tomorrow) π
