ParticipantHi There,
I found a similar topic to this here (https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/export-months-events-on-iphone-4/). I’m having issues with this, as are all of my users. Whenever a month is exported again and synced with a calendar, instead of skipping/or refreshing the events that are already there and just adding the new stuff, it duplicates ALL the events.
I just updated to 3.11.1 and I’m not noticing a resolution with this version. Are you working on this, or is it really a fix that we have to wait for until version 4? Thanks for the update on this!
I appreciate your time.

MemberHi @wfsec28,
I’m sorry for the continued difficulties – but I’ll check in on the status of that bug.
Can I ask if (like in the other topic you linked to) the problem happens in iPhones, or are you finding generally this happens no matter which calendar application you import into?

ParticipantHi Barry,
So far it’s both iPhones and Android OS phones, as well as whatever calendar system we import to. We have yet to find a system that doesn’t duplicate, but if we do, I’ll let you know.

MemberOK, so the issue isn’t so much that users are returning to the same month and re-importing the same data again (though, if I try that whether on your site or our demo site iCalendar seems intelligent enough not re-import the same events) but that users are subscribing and are then returning to do a further manual import?
Thanks for clarifying!

ParticipantBarry,
I’m SO sorry for the late reply!
I think that’s correct. What I’m doing is exporting a month’s events. Is that the same as subscribing? Or is that a different function?

MemberHi!
Typically, when we talk of subscribing, we mean that the visitor is using a tool – such as iCal or Outlook in the case of .ics feeds – that maintains an up-to-date list of upcoming events (which it normally does by periodically and automatically visiting the feed URL and seeing what’s new).
A straightforward export on the other hand generally functions as a “one off” dump of data. In other words, it doesn’t imply an ongoing relationship (so while you could certainly repeat the process and regularly export/import the data, the app you are using won’t necessarily set about keeping it up-to-date of its own accord).
Ultimately the distinction comes down to how you obtain the information and what you instruct your calendar app to do with it. At least in my own testing, though, the official iCal app suffers no problems like you have outlined, nor could my colleague replicate using an iPhone device.
If you were able to distill this down to a specific set of steps (along with a note of exactly what URLs you are visiting and which device/calendar app you are using) we could certainly take another shot at replicating the problem 🙂

MemberMy pleasure 🙂
I’ll go ahead and close the topic in that case, but of course if you do need further help on this or anything else you can always create a new topic.
Thanks again!
