KeymasterHey Randy,
I also checked the pages. It’s difficult to pinpoint any cause of the slow loading. It can be a number of things.
Here are some points I found while running some tests:
- there are a number of large image files being loaded on the pages
- google analytics and some ‘addthis’ – I guess social media buttons – has a long response time
Let me know what you manage to find out with Query Monitor. That might bring us closer to the source of the issue.
I just remembered this article on performance and this one on caching that might be helpful as well.

KeymasterThanks Rhonda,
You say:
https://cals.ncsu.edu/event/dr-anna-whitfield-plant-infecting-arboviruses-new-and-old-foes-that-threaten-global-food-security/
– It appears in the events feed of the source website, but does
not import even when I make changes to it.And you say your setting is:
Import events but preserve local changes to event fields
This means that the event will be imported, but you change for example the description of the event in your site, then it will not be updated with a re-import.
Is this the case, or is it something else?
Also under Events > Settings > Imports tab the import date range for other URLs is independent from the global settings. What do you have there? (screenshot)
Cheers,
AndrasI can think of 2 cases when an event doesn’t want to import like that.
1. The import has a start date set up, which is – based on your settings – 3 months or more before the event that is not imported. To check this go to Events > Import > Scheduled Imports and edit the import. Check if there is a date entered which could influence this. (screenshot)
2. The event was imported before and then has been deleted / ignored, and it is still in the ignored list.

KeymasterWhoa, okay that is unusual.
Just to be sure, can you please confirm this to me again:
- Please make sure you are using the latest versions of our pluigns.
- Your WordPress timezone under Settings > General is set to Los Angeles (screenshot)
- The timezone setting in TEC under Events > Settings > General tab is set to ‘Use local timezones…’ (screenshot)
- The recurring event has the timezone of Los Angeles (screenshot)
- (Please tick the box to ‘Show timezones’ that might reveal some further information)
If everything is like the above, then it would be great if you could go through our conflict testing guide to see if that uncovers anything.
Cheers,

KeymasterHello again,
Thanks for the url.
This site also has the error with the theme. (screenshot)
Based on the error messages it looks like you are using cloudfront and / or caching.
Sometimes caching and minification causes issues. We usually recommend to exclude The Events Calendar resources from minification.
My approach would be: first switch off minification and see if that helps. If not, then start from zero:
- disable cloudfront and all kind of caching. Check if that solves the issue
- start enabling caching features and cloudfront one option at a time and check when the functionality breaks
Here’s an article about caching from our knowledgebase that also might be helpful.
Let me know what you find.

KeymasterSure thing Fred, we’re happy to help.
I would like to kindly ask, if you / they are getting in touch with us with a different issue, then please open a new thread in the forums so we can keep things clean.
Thanks and cheers,

KeymasterHey Robert,
Happy to hear that helped.
In order to check in attendees with a QR code you need to have a Contributor user account, there is no specific capability.
Note however, that the contributor already has edit / delete capabilities.
To create a specific role with only checking in users you would need to make changes to the core files of the plugin.
We are also looking into improving the check-in functionality of the plugin, but cannot say when that will happen.
Is there anything else I can help you with?

KeymasterHello Jeremy,
It looks like this is a glitch in the plugin. I have submitted a bugticket on this so our developers can take a look at it.
Until the fix is released the workaround is to roll back to Events Calendar PRO 4.4.18.
I am going to set the status of this ticket to “pending fix” and we will update it once the fix is released. If you have any new questions or issues please create a new ticket and reference this one.
Thanks for your patience!
Cheers,

KeymasterHi,
Thanks for reaching out! I’m really sorry about the issue with the site. Let me try to help you with this.
I checked your site and don’t see the error messages you have referenced. It also looks like that EC PRO is not active, as I don’t see the ‘Near’ field.
I also see another error that seems to be coming from your theme. (screenshot)
Are you also getting the same errors when you switch to a default theme like twentyseventeen?
Looking forward to hearing back from you.
Cheers,

KeymasterHello Randy,
Thanks for using our plugins and welcome to the forums!
I’m sorry to hear about your troubles. I will do my best to help you solve this. The behavior you described is indeed unusual.
Can you please share with me the urls of the 2 sites you are mentioning?
What kind of events do you have on the site with 40 events? Is it mostly recurring events or single events?
Did you try to run a conflict test on the slower site to check if any of the plugins are causing this behavior?
Looking forward to helping you with this.
Cheers,

KeymasterHello Rhonda,
Thanks for using our plugins and welcome to the forums!
I’m sorry about your issue, let me try to help you with this.
I will need some information from you to be able to help you with this.
- What is your Event Update Authority setting under Events > Settings > Imports tab? (looks like this)
- On the same page is there an import limit set in the Global Import Settings section?
Thanks!
Andras
