Hi Nico, thanks for the update.

Yes, the new plugin version does in fact fix the issue on my website. Thanks a lot! 🙂

    Best,

Yes, I just noticed the same problem.

There’s a conflict with Community Events 4.4 and the post/page comment function. The comment section simply doesn’t appear, even though it’s activated.

When reverting back to the previous Community Events version 4.3.2 the comment section appears/functions normally.

    Hi Geoff

    Thanks for your answer.

I understand the concept of the Themer’s Guide and template customization, but I still need assistance with my issue.

For example, in single-event.php I understand that the event date and time are diplayed by the function echo tribe_events_event_schedule_details( $event_id, '<h2>', '</h2>' );. But how can I change it to display the event city on that same line?

Can you help me with that?

    Hi Geoff

    Thanks for your answer.

I understand the concept of the Themer’s Guide and template customization, but I still need assistance with my issue.

For example, in single-event.php I understand that the price is diplayed by the function echo tribe_get_cost( null, true ). But how can I change it to display a space between the currency symbol and the price?

Can you help me with that?

    Hey Josh

Thanks for your response. I did some more testing and noticed that the problem only occurs for events submitted by non-registered users that attach an image.

Submissions by registered users (both with and without image) or by non-registered users without image don’t have this problem.

Maybe you can replicate the issue with that condition?

(PS: In my testing I’ve always chosen a pre-saved event venue and organizer from the drop-down options. Just in case it makes a difference.)

    Hi Josh

Thanks for your response, but the info provided doesn’t really help me.

As I mentioned the word “submitted” that appears as part of the confirmation message “Event submitted” is not translated, and the problem is that this string is not found in the .pot/.po/.mo file. It might be hard-coded somewhere in a .php file, but I don’t know in which one.

Do you know where I can find this string?

    Kind regards,

    Rafael

    Hey Nico

Thanks for your response. It’s good to know that this is a known problem and that it’s being worked on.

As you suggested I’ll keep the current plugin version and look forward to a fix for this issue.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Geoff

    Thanks for your explanation.

It actually already had occured to me that the problem might be related to customizations. That’s why I looked at the themer’s guide and tried to identify where in the templates the sidebar is called, but I couldn’t find it.

Upon your suggestion I deleted the entire tribe-events folder from the active theme I’m using, to see if the problem indeed has to do with customizations. Apparently, it doesn’t. Nothing changed after I removed that folder.

I then reverted back to TEC 3.10 and (as expected) the sidebar was gone from the calendar view. I then updated again to version 3.12 and the sidebar re-appeared.

Next I switched the theme to WP’s standard TwentyThirteen and the sidebar was gone. When I switched back to the theme I’m actually using (which, by the way, is not an old or poorly coded one, but rather the widely popular Total theme) the sidebar was back again. (Despite the theme’s setting that pages have no sidebar by default.)

So it appears that my problem is in part related to the theme I’m using. But not entirely, because TEC 3.10 has worked and still works fine with that theme.

Do you have any other ideas what the problem could be from the TEC side of things?

    Hi Geoff

    Thanks for your response.

Yes, in the settings the Default Events Template is selected. (Screenshot)

I’m using a child theme incl. a tribe-events folder with the following sub-folders:
    /community/
    ..several files

    /modules/
    ..bar.php

    /month/
    ..single-event.php
    ..tooltip.php

    /pro/
    ..related-events.php

I’m not sure if that’s of any help.

The strange thing is that before I updated the TEC plugin today, the calender view was full-width without the sidebar.

Do you have any ideas what the problem could be?

    Hey Geoff

Thank you for your help. The suggestion above solved the issue.

The community add event link has always been mydomain.com/events/community/add but now with the new plugin version 3.11 the last word in the url gets translated for non-English websites. So in my specific case the new url is now mydomain.com/events/community/hinzufuegen (because my website is in German). All I had to do to solve the issue is to replace the old with the new community add event url.

Please note that on the community settings page the wrong (i.e. not translated) urls are shown:
    http://snag.gy/PtvXC.jpg
That’s something to fix in the next plugin version.

Thanks again for your help. Kind regards,

    Rafael

Never mind, I’ve found the strings I was looking for in my theme’s .po file. That’s strange because I expected the plugin to translate the strings “Single Event” and “Events Calendar”, but it’s actually the theme. In any case, my issue is now resolved.

Hi Geoff, thanks for your prompt response.

It’s great to know that the plugin now supports shortcodes. I hope there will be many more in the future. 🙂

Thanks for the tip about Event Rocket, but the plugin does not actually provide a shortcode for the calendar, just for the calendar widget. What I’m looking for is to display the actual calendar ( = month view) on a different page. And although the ER plugin can be used to set the events page as the homepage, that homepage cannot contain any other elements.

Will the TEC plugin provide a shortcode for the calendar (month view) in the future? If so, is there an approximate release date for this feature?

Oh I see. Thanks for your prompt response. I’ll suggets this as a feature for a future release. So for the moment I’ll just have to remember to re-upload my customized language file whenever I update the plugin.

Hi Geoff, thanks for your response. You make a good point. However I just upgraded to the brand new 3.9 version of the plugin and ‘what do you know’, there’s now a reCAPTCHA option ingegrated. That solves the issue perfectly! 🙂
