ParticipantHello support,
From what I understand TEC does not support shortcodes. Is there another way to have the events calendar displayed on the homepage (or any other page for that matter)? What I mean is to icorporate the actual calendar view into the homepage (not simply make the calendar the homepage with nothing else on it).

MemberHello there, Rafael!
We actually do support shortcodes now, as of the latest release (3.9)–however, just the one shortcode to display the mini calendar widget on any page or post.
While there still isn’t a way to make the calendar your site’s homepage right out of the box, you may want to check out the Event Rocket plugin. It’s not supported by us here, but is maintained by one of the developers on the team and includes the ability to set the calendar as the homepage using a shortcode. Sounds like that may be the best bet for what you’re looking for.
Sorry our plugin doesn’t handle for you right out of the box, but hopefully this provides you a solid alternative to make it happen. ๐
Cheers!

ParticipantHi Geoff, thanks for your prompt response.
It’s great to know that the plugin now supports shortcodes. I hope there will be many more in the future. ๐
Thanks for the tip about Event Rocket, but the plugin does not actually provide a shortcode for the calendar, just for the calendar widget. What I’m looking for is to display the actual calendar ( = month view) on a different page. And although the ER plugin can be used to set the events page as the homepage, that homepage cannot contain any other elements.
Will the TEC plugin provide a shortcode for the calendar (month view) in the future? If so, is there an approximate release date for this feature?

MemberAh, gotcha! That makes quite a bit more sense–thanks for the clarification.
I can see how Event Rocket might not be the right fit. Although, a possibility would be to use Event Rocket to set the Events page as the homepage, then hook into theย tribe_events_before_html() andย tribe_events_after_html() functions to input other elements onto the page. You can actually do this in the “Advanced Template Settings” under Events > Settings > Display, or you hook into those functions to inject some more advanced features. Just a thought.
Good question about shortcode timeframe. Honestly, I don’t have a specific timeframe I can provide, but I do know that it is being actively discussed. The widget shortcode is the first move in that direction, so you can expect to see more iterative releases throughout the year, for sure.
I hope this helps! Thanks again for reaching out. ๐
Cheers!
