Hah, we try no to be. It is funny, there is such a fine line between a tease and an honest over communicator. Still not sure quite what the right balance is.
Shane PearlmanMemberPeter was up till 3am last night documenting, refactoring and organizing.
The good news is that it is all processed.
The obvious consequence is that we broke a couple things while cleaning house and Rob is QA’ing them right now. Hopefully John can fix them this weekend or early next week and we can release 2.0.1 as well as the documentation.
Posting the documentation early wouldn’t make much without access to the updated template tags.
Shane PearlmanMemberHi Jeromie,
I’m glad you got your theme working and I’m sad that you are disappointed.
Where did you take that screenshot (url)? I’d love to get that fixed. We’ve been pretty darn careful with our feature claims.
As for timelines, yeah we missed our launch of Sept 20th by 2.5 weeks. While in the software world that isn’t much of a margin of error, I was still really hoping we could could nail it. While most people were really nice about it, a lot of people made plans that were disturbed. I think we have learned that in the future, while it might annoy more people not to have a date announced, we might just have to do like apple and be all secretive so people won’t feel like we didn’t keep our word.
We are working on functionality to allow front-end user submission which we called “community events” (https://theeventscalendar.com/shop/wordpress-community-events/). It is approaching beta and I would be happy to have your participate. As per the note above, I can’t give you any timeline, but it will be “soon”.
Shane PearlmanMemberHi Tineke,
I spend about 4 hours yesterday cleaning up template tags with peter and documenting. We are doing a second (and hopefully final) pass in 30 minutes. Hoping that the docs will be up really soon.
Shane PearlmanMemberMac – can you send them to [email protected] and I’ll have rob work with you to see if we can figure this out.
Shane PearlmanMemberI am not familiar with the builder theme. Why the iframe?
The first step you might want to try is to select different template options in the event settings http://cl.ly/B4Ic. Maybe we will get lucky and this will help resolve the issue.
If not, I might need you to provide access if you are willing so that we can look at your setup and see if we can figure out where things are going sideways.
Shane PearlmanMemberCool. What did you upgrade from: Events 1.6.5 or PRO 1.3.3?
Shane PearlmanMemberHi Mac,
There is more weirdness going on with your calendar. When I click August in the drop down it jumps to july. It shows september when october is loaded.
Did you upgrade from a previous version (1.6.5 or 1.3.3)? Also you have PRO 2.0.1 listed. I don’t think we have released that yet but I figured I’d check if someone on my team hooked you up with a dev version just in case. =)
Have you done any custom template work on this yet? Basically is there a folder called /events/ in your theme?
Shane PearlmanMemberHey Debbie,
There is something extra weird going on.
The proper url for the event is “http://treasurecoasthappens.com/event/treasure-coast-beer-fest/” but if you type that in directly it redirects to “http://treasurecoasthappens.com/event/4th-annual-treoast-beer-fest” which as you can imagine is totally incorrect. Do you have some sort of of 303 or redirect activity happening on your website? Perhaps another plugin? How about editing the permalink for the event manually? Does that have any effect?
you can see the even right now on http://treasurecoasthappens.com/events/upcoming/page/5 (obviously that will change as the date comes closer) and when you hover on the title you can see the proper url. The issue happen when that url gets hit.
Shane PearlmanMemberHi Jeromie,
You can use gravity forms for now. Community events, the plugin you mentioned is in the works and should come out towards the end of this year / early next year.
That is a super interesting issue. I see all your events, but both list and calendar view are showing the same output. Makes no sense off the cuff. So a couple things to explore:
1) Do you happen to have a folder called /events/ in your theme? That could be causing conflicts
2) can you try some different template options in the settings? Either the default events template, page template or others: http://cl.ly/B4Ic.See if that helps. If not, maybe we can poke at the code together and see what it going on.
Shane PearlmanMemberMoif – just in case there is any confusion – john is saying that single day view exists and is accessible by clicking on the # on the date in the calendar view.
Alternatively you can use use the date in the url for example: http://yoursite.com/events/2011-10-25/. You could create some kind of smart link using the php date function, something like: date(“Y-m-d”)
Shane PearlmanMemberI’ll poke john and see what we can rustle up. =)
Shane PearlmanMemberand the notify email field is live.
Shane PearlmanMemberHi Juzz – I moved it for you. =)
Can you give me a little more detail? How many events do you have? Are there multiple in the future, which is important since the list starts with today and then goes either forward or backwards in time?
October 17, 2011 at 1:01 pm in reply to: Bug: Custom Event Field – Dropdown with just numbers as values display issue #9814Shane PearlmanMemberThanks Brian,
Logging it as a bug for 2.0.1.
