MemberHey David. This is an interesting issue; I’m seeing it myself on your site, too. However when I attempt to recreate on my default 2011 install it works fine and I can access the category-specific pages without issue. This makes me think something else might be at play here.
Have you already flushed your permalinks (just resaving the permalinks page, without making any changes)? That might do the trick here, but if not we should check for a conflict with another plugin or the theme. This would involve deactivating other plugins until just The Events Calendar/PRO + the theme are on; and if the issue persists, reverting to the default 2011 theme from there. It’d be awesome if you had a test environment on which to do this.
Lastly: I don’t know how much impact this would have, but can you try testing without the ‘home’ in the URL there?

MemberSounds good, David! Just a heads up that Jonah is out on sabbatical the next month, but if you follow-up in this thread once you jump back into it I will take over in trying to help with any lingering issues. Cheers.
Rob
MemberAwesome to hear you got this figured out, Michael. I’m going to close out the thread here but if we can do anything else in the future please let us know. Thanks for your support so far.
July 27, 2012 at 10:20 am in reply to: Migration with upgrade from 1.3.3 to 2.0.8 not triggering. #22846Rob
MemberDavid: no, you shouldn’t have had to update to 1.6.5. These were essentially two separate plugins before we moved to 2.0:
* The free The Events Calendar 1.6.5 plugin, when jumping to 2.0, DID have a migration process that was somewhat complex.
* The (paid) Events Calendar PRO 1.3.3 plugin was a separate product that didn’t require The Events Calendar to run. When activating the 2.0 code alongside 1.3.3, as per this article (https://theeventscalendar.com/migrating-from-events-calendar-1-6-5-to-2-0/), the experience was intended to be as seamless as possible. That’s what I’m confused by here, is that it sounds like you experienced a problem some free users encounter that you shouldn’t have seen as a PRO user. I will need to look into this myself, from the looks of things; can you revert back to the 1.3.3 build and send me a set of admin credentials to pro /a/ tri.be, with a link to this thread? Please also confirm that you don’t mind me attempting the update on my end with your site…
Thanks for your patience, David.

MemberNice…glad to hear you got this taken care of, Andy. I’ll close out the thread as requested. Cheers!
Rob
MemberRoberto: that is controlled in ecp-single-template.php; it appears as though the sidebar is dictated by line 29, from the looks of things. Let me know if you still have any questions from there.
Rob
MemberHey Michelle. Alright then; thanks for confirming. Jonah is out for the next month but I’m going to see if our lead dev, Paul, can point you in the right direction here. That isn’t right and if we can do the right thing by you to get this resolved…we should. Let me see what Paul can suggest when he hits the forums next, either sometime this afternoon or over the weekend. Thanks for your patience on it so far.

MemberHey Josh. At this point sadly HTML isn’t possible within the custom fields, but we’ve had a ton of requests for that so should be releasing code that allows for it in one of our next monthly maintenance releases. What might be easier in the interim would be to change the “Organizer” label to something else: organizers DO allow for HTML in the URL field, so if you needed a URL that seems like it’d be the best workaround until an official solution is available.
Hope that helps and sorry I couldn’t offer up more here. Just know that relief is in sight. If you have any other questions or if I can do anything else, please let me know.
Rob
MemberHey Luis. Have you checked out whether our documentation page (at https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation ) points you in the right direction here? If I understand the issue correctly…that, coupled with Jonah’s suggestion in this thread (https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/calendar-widget-into-theme/), should get you where you need to be.
Let me know if I misunderstood here, though, and I’ll get you what you need.

MemberThanks, Richard – glad to hear that the /events/past issue is resolved. As for your new one here: that is sadly a bit outside my area of expertise. Did this not happen before adding the code tweak that fixed your initial issue?
Rob
MemberHey David. Thanks for the note here, and for your purchase of the PRO plugin. Any chance I can see a link to your site? Would definitely help us in figuring out what’s up and trying to advise you from there.
By and large, the plugin *should* pick up the site’s overall styling. You sometimes need to play around with this a bit to make sure everything looks 100% perfect…but the easiest place to start is going to Events -> Settings -> Template and switching to a different templating option from the dropdown there. Try out each of the ones presented and see which works best for you, and if it clears up some of these styling issues you’ve noted.
The categories and events will remain in the database from a previous version of Events Calendar PRO; but so long as you’ve removed the custom CSS from your ‘events’ folder in the theme directory, you should be set and won’t see a conflict. If your old code overrides are still present, though, that could definitely be a problem.
Hope this helps. Let me know about those points above and I’ll do what I can to elaborate as needed.

MemberSo awesome to hear you got this figured, Ben – thanks for confirming as much and sorry we couldn’t do more to help you get there. I’m going to mark your last response here as the answer so other users with Headway (of which there are quite a few) can find value in your post.
As always, if we can do anything else down the road, please let us know.
Rob
MemberFantastic! Thanks for confirming, Steve. Looks like you’re all set here so I’m going to close out this issue…but if we can do anything else in the future please let us know.
Rob
MemberHey Christian. This is an interesting request; while it isn’t something I’m positive on how to do, I think there is a way to make it work. Let me get our developer Paul – more well-versed in such issues than myself – to take a look and try and point you in the right direction.
Stay tuned and thanks for your patience so far.
Rob
MemberHi Graeme. Thanks for reaching out here. If I understand your issue correctly, might Jonah’s solution in this thread (https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/how-to-display-the-thumbnail-in-upcoming-events/) be of value? Let me know if not.
