    Hi deborahgumo,

Thanks for the further information. I’d like you to try doing a manual update of the plugin. It’s simpler than using the FTP that Ken mentioned, but should help get things squared away.

To do this, deactivate and delete the Events Calendar PRO plugin from your Plugins page. You should not lose data, but we recommend that you backup your database first just in case. Then install the new version of the plugin (downloaded from your account’s downloads page) and activate it. That will get you running PRO 3.5.1 and hopefully skirt that error you were getting.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can do to help you.

    Hi groeteke,

Thank you for the link and the information. I installed the German WordPress files on my site and I am also seeing the month name in English. That makes me think that the problem is actually in the German WordPress translation. You might want to get in touch with the people who work on that and make sure it is up to date. When I use another language like French, our month names translate properly.

The US-style times that you see in Week and Day View are hard-coded, so they don’t obey the settings you’ve selected. We are working on making these more international-friendly, but at this time I don’t have a solution for you. I apologize for the inconvenience.

    Hi magictigger,

The issue may be that the German translation you’re using is a little outdated. You can download the updated translation files for The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO here. Put the two files into the /lang folders for each plugin, replacing the current ones. Then check again and let me know if that solves your problem. If not, can you please send me some screenshots showing the specific problem?

    Hi immeemz,

Will these fixes be incorporated into the **very next** update? I ask because if they are not, then I will have to re-do them every single time I update the plugin.

We do not have these fixes planned for the next update, so I can’t guarantee that. However, you can use template overrides to prevent your changes from getting lost each time you update the plugin. That way you can do the hard coding you need.

Also, for the time, it is using : to separate the hours and minutes (8:30), and it should be an “h” in French (8h30). My WP settings are set to follow this format but the Agenda is not respecting that. It needs to be: Samedi le 7 juin, 2014 – 8h30

Can you tell me what time format setting you are using to get that style (8h30)? I read over the Codex page about time formats but I couldn’t see one that would do that. Can you give me the code you’re using, or send a screenshot of your time format settings?

Yes, it works everywhere on the site EXCEPT the Agenda.

When you say the Agenda, do you mean what in English is called Week View? (Like this). Or something else?

The Agenda is also using this format for the heading: “Agenda starting Saturday, April 5th 2014″ and here it’s not even translated at all. I DID download and install WordPress in French. Direct from http://fr.wordpress.org/.

I downloaded the French WordPress files as well, and they are translating the months and days of the week. (For example here). Can you show me a screenshot of where you’re seeing it not translated?

    Hi Oliver,

Thanks for getting in touch. I actually already have a new German translation- don’t forget to check our Translation Master List to see what’s already been done 🙂 I’d love to get your update for Community Events and Filter Bar, but it looks like you didn’t update the translation file with the most recent .pot file. I did that step, so now the new strings are ready to be translated. Please download the files from here and fill in those missing strings. Then they’ll be ready to be added to the plugins 🙂

    Hi Jonas,

Thanks so much for submitting these! They look great, and I’ve added them to the next release of the plugin. I recommend that you add the files to your own plugin now, since the next version definitely won’t be out before this weekend- we do a maintenance release every month.

I’ll email you shortly with a coupon so you can get a free license for Events Calendar PRO. Thank you so much for your help!

    Hi joshuatan,

Thanks for posting. Can you confirm for me that you have the latest versions of The Events Calendar (3.5.1) and WooCommerce Tickets (3.5) installed and active on your Plugins page? If you’re still not seeing a field for the license key, can you send me a screenshot showing your whole License Keys tab page? That will help me troubleshoot.

You don’t need to enter the license key to use WooCommerce Tickets, you just need to have it installed and active on your site. The license key gives you automatic updates, downloads, and support access.

You mentioned in your subject line that you are unable to use WooCommerce Tickets. Can you elaborate on that?

Thanks for your patience while we get to the bottom of this.

    Hi diggeridoo,

Thanks for getting in touch. The plugins with three numbers (like 3.5.1) are ones that needed a hotfix, and that final .1 shows us that they are different from the pre-hotfix version which was 3.5.

It is important to keep all your plugins at the same version, but you don’t need to worry about matching the third number. As long as the first two numbers of your Events Calendar plugins match, they will all work together. For example right now, the versions all have the same first two numbers (3.5) so they are good. What you don’t want is to be running a 3.5 version with a 3.3, or something like that.

    Does that answer your question?

    Hi holmfirthevents,

What you need to do is update the core plugin, The Events Calendar, to version 3.5.1. You can do this from your Plugins page or from your Dashboard –> Updates page. If you’re not seeing an update prompt in those places, you might try clearing your browser’s cache. Once you’re updated, that nag will go away and your plugins should all work nicely together.

    Hi dominantmusic,

Can you confirm for me that you are running the latest version of each plugin? That would be The Events Calendar 3.5.1, Eventbrite Tickets 3.5, and Events Calendar PRO 3.5.1. Also, make sure they are all activated on your Plugins page. If they are still not showing under Events –> Settings –> License Keys, please send me a screenshot of that whole screen so I can troubleshoot further. I recommend that you make your response Private so that no one else can see your license key.

    Hi immeemz,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are working on improving our plugin to make it more international-friendly, and this kind of feedback is very helpful.

In the Event List widget, it displays it like this:
    juin 7
    However, it should be:
    7 juin
The month before the date is not done EVER in French, unlike English where there is some variation especially between US and UK. So while in English it might be acceptable to have either one or the other, in French it’s just incorrect.

At this time, the date format you set in your WordPress Settings does not apply to every aspect of your calendar. That’s why you’re still seeing the US date format in your widgets and views. We are working on improving this, but I don’t have a solution for you at this time.

Also, for the time, it is using : to separate the hours and minutes (8:30), and it should be an “h” in French (8h30). My WP settings are set to follow this format but the Agenda is not respecting that. It needs to be:
    Samedi le 7 juin, 2014 – 8h30

I would like to look into this issue you reported with the time format not obeying your setting. Can you tell me what custom time format you’re using, and where exactly you are seeing it not working? Is it working anywhere on the site?

The Agenda is also using this format for the heading: “Agenda starting Saturday, April 5th 2014″ and here it’s not even translated at all.

Some elements of the calendar, such as days of the week and month names, are translated by WordPress itself and not via our plugin translations. This means that if you do not have the WordPress translation files loaded for your language you will see some untranslated words in your calendar, even with your language set in wp-config. To fix this, you’ll need to download and install WordPress for your language. Then the headings should be fully translated- although unforunately as I discussed above, the date format will still be US style.

For the Weekly view, the days and dates aren’t translated at all, it still says the following “SUN 30TH MON 31ST TUE 1ST WED 2ND THU 3RD FRI 4TH SAT 5TH” – totally in English, no attempt made at translation at all.

This part is hard-coded into the plugin. We are working on making this more flexible for non-US users, but at this time there isn’t a way to change it.

(Plus “Next Week” and “Previous Week”). For this last issue, the strings are actually in the .po file and have translations, but in the .po file it is “Next Week »”, whereas in week.php on line 271 it is actually “Next Week <span>»</span>”…so this might be why it’s not being translated.

These are showing in English because the string changes in our latest release. If you go into the .po files and add that

    <span>»</span>

code into the translation and save it, those should work. I’d be happy to help with that if you need it.

I apologize that our plugins are not yet 100% international friendly. Thank you again for your feedback, and for your patience while we work on these issues.

    Hi efromdc,

I think you might have put the snippet in the wrong place- I apologize for being unclear before! Adding the snippet to rooturl/functions.php would break your site.

Please try again, and this time paste the snippet at the top of your theme’s functions.php file, underneath the first line “<?php”. If your theme does not have a functions.php file, go to your theme folder, create a new text document file called “functions.php”, and paste this text in the first line of the file “<?php”. On line 2 or 3, paste that snippet. You can find your theme’s functions file under wp-content/themes/your-theme/functions.php.

If that still doesn’t work, we’ll need you to give us an example address for further investigation.

    Hi studiomashbo,

Thanks for explaining. I did a test purchase but I am seeing Upon installation/activation, add your license key listed below to the plugin inEvents -> Settings -> Licenses which would be correct. That is where you need to input your license. Are you seeing something else?

    Hi deborahgumo and usapowerlifting,

We recently released an update for all our plugins, including Events Calendar PRO. We also released a hotfix for PRO, so the current version of PRO is 3.5.1. You are seeing that error message because your version of PRO is older, and you always want to run concurrent versions of our plugins.

If you have a valid license key inputted in your Events –> Settings page, that message would include and update link. You might want to double check that you license key is not expired (https://theeventscalendar.com/license-keys/) and that it is entered there in Settings. Then, clear your browser’s cache and check your Plugins page and/or Dashboard –> Updates page. You should see an option in one of both of those places to update to Events Calendar PRO 3.5.1.

If you’re still having trouble, please let me know and we’d be happy to help out.

    Hi groeteke,

Are you saying that the time and date format is not showing in German style (e.g. DD-MM-YYYY and 21:00) or that the month and day names are still showing in English?

For most of the calendar, the date and time format that you set in the WordPress Settings will show in the calendar. However, the times and dates listed in the Day View and Week View are hard coded. We are working on making The Events Calendar completely obey the WordPress setting, but at this time there is no way to change those without digging into the plugin files.

Then the Day View (and other Views) should be fully translated.

    Does that answer your question?

    Best,

    Leah
