ParticipantHey James,
Very nice, clean site β I checked out the link you shared, and for me, in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari on a Mac, the dropdowns for all those menu items you mentioned worked fine for me. Has this issue improved for you as well, or was it broken and then you installed an older version of Events Calendar and it’s only because of that change that the menus work again?Speaking of older versions of the plugin β did the link I shared help you find the older versions you were looking for?
Let me know about the dropdown menu issue, and if these menus don’t work with the most recent Events Calendar active, if possible would you be able to re-active the most recent version of Events Calendar so that things are broken again? π I know that doesn’t sound appealing, but if the issue is in place I can check out the link you provided again and investigate the problem.
Thanks JamesGeorge
ParticipantSounds good Kim, keep us posted π

ParticipantHey Christopher,
Apologies for the delayed response here β your last reply was on Christmas Eve, and I was out for a while with the holiday and everything. Thanks for being patient while we get our support flow back up to full speed, it means a lot!
I’m curious about how your month grids look if you add multiple events to a given day β I checked out the link you provided, but all the days there only seemed to have one event. Can you add some “dummy”/sample events for testing, if possible, and let me know when you’ve done so? I’ll take a closer look at your Month View again just to see how it’s behaving with multiple events.
As for centering the featured images, you can do that with some Custom CSS like the following:
.tribe-events-event-thumb { text-align: center; }Let me know if that helps, and again: thanks for your patience! π
Cheers,
George-

ParticipantHey @cyrilsack,
Apologies for the delayed reply here, I was out for quite a while with holiday travels and the like. I really appreciate your patience! π
As for your issue β what you described is indeed odd behavior to me. I’m bummed that Blue Host didn’t have more to say, and that definitely could hinder resolving this issue because it’s still possible, technically, that there’s a Google Maps API limit affecting things here. But I’m curious: have you gone and edited any other Events beyond those original 20 that you said started to work correctly? If not, I’d recommend going to more Events and simply clicking “Update Event” β you don’t need to actually make any changes to the content, but if updating helped those other 20 events then it’s possible it will help others.
Speaking of those other 20 events, what sort of stuff did you edit? If it was all different for each event, then no worries, but I’m curious if they maybe all had something in common that you edited before they started showing up in the Map View…
Again: I’m sorry for the delayed reply and really appreciate your patience with us getting back to you. I look forward to your response and am hopeful we can get things resolved soon.
Thanks, and happy New Year!

ParticipantHey Martin,
I’ve been out traveling for the holidays and such recently myself, so I’m sorry it’s taken me a while to get back here to followup and check-in on things β your patience means a lot.
Do you have any updates or progress here with anything? No worries if not β just wanted to check in and let you know we haven’t ignored your issue or forgotten it or anything.
Cheers and happy New Year,
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantHey Varga,
I’m very sorry about the delayed response here β I was out a while with traveling for the holidays and such, and even though I got back to customer support yesterday, I didn’t see your ticket!
Even worse than my delayed response is that I don’t have a solution yet β not at this moment, anyway. I just wanted to post a reply so you didn’t think we’d forgotten your issue or ignored this or anything.
I really appreciate your patience, and will post again soon with more information on your issue after thinking and testing some stuff here. In the meantime: happy New Year π
Gratefully,
George

ParticipantHey Noah,
Awesome domain name. In regards to your issue with the links not wrapping in Safari, I was able to force wrapping with the following bit of custom CSS:
dd.tribe-events-event-url { word-wrap: break-word; } dd.tribe-events-event-url a { width: 100%; }I tested that out in Safari on your site and it worked well for me. Let me know if you’re able to configure custom CSS like this on your site β if you need some guidance on that, the “Custom Styles” section of our official Themer’s Guide is pretty helpful! Check that out here.
As for dequeueing maps in the theme, can you specify exactly what you’re trying to do here? Do you mean making sure that maps-specific CSS and JavaScript files are only loaded on events pages with Maps? Just want to be 100% certain about what you’re trying to do.

ParticipantHey James,
Sorry you’ve been having trouble with your theme β would you be interested in elaborating on some of these issues in detail, sharing links to examples of the problem on your site and stuff? We’ll happily take a look and see if we can help out with some of the conflicts instead of you having to use deprecated code, which could cause issues on its own in the future.
However, to answer your main question directly,Β yes, you can access pretty much every old public release of the free version of The Events Calendar by heading to the “developers” tab of The Events Calendar’s plugin page on WordPress.org. Check that out hereΒ β https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar/developers/
If you have any issues accessing that tab or getting old versions from that tab, let us know!

ParticipantHey Kim,
Sorry for your frustrations here β as far as I know, there hasn’t been any feedback on the information Brian shared with the other customer in that post you linked to. However, Brian’s comments are still definitely a great starting place to work from.
To elaborate on that: it seems like there should be some way to limit the Post Types Order plugin from affecting certain post types. I’m not familiar with the plugin myself, but I’d recommend contacting the developer or using the plugin’s support forums to see if you can keep the plugin from affecting the following post types:
β’ tribe_events
β’ tribe_organizer
β’ tribe_venueOn a quick google search for some more info about this plugin, I found this article β http://tidyrepo.com/post-types-order/
Apparently there’s an “Auto-Sort” option within the plugin that you can turn off, and as described in that article, it seems like with a little bit of code you can keep the Post Types Order plugin from affecting certain types.
Definitely contact the developer/plugin support first, and in the meantime, see if you can play around with what that article describes in regard to disabling the “Auto-Sort” feature. Let us know what you find! (And if you start writing custom code, be sure to back everything up before starting to experiment! π )

ParticipantHey Christopher,
Can you specify what guide you’re referencing, and share a link to where you found it? Also, paste your custom code for this functionality into a Gist at http://gist.github.com and share a link to that Gist here β if you have multiple for this, make multiple Gists, and be sure to just paste your whole files, unedited, into the Gist (don’t remove any of the code or even comments in the file or anything).
I’m only curious about these details because the code you already have might just need a small tweak for this.
Thanks!

ParticipantHey John,
Sorry you’re having some trouble here. When you describe not being able to apply styles to your list widget, can you specify how far along the process you are able to get? For example: are you able to get custom CSS loaded on your page, but it’s just not working or affecting your list widgets? Or are you still trying to figure out how/where to add custom CSS? Elaborate on where you’re stuck and we can definitely offer some pointers here.
As for making a customized version of the widget, you should be able to do this by first heading to your site’sΒ Β /wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar folder β this is the free version of Events Calendar, which includes the Events List widget.
Once you’re in this folder, look for /views/widgets/list-widget.php β this is where the output for the list widget is generated, so copy and paste the entire contents of this file and paste it into a new file in your theme at /tribe-events/widgets/list-widget.php. If you don’t have the /tribe-events folder in your theme, make it, and add the /widgets folder to it before finally adding that new list-widget.php file as well.
Once you have this version of the file in your theme, you should be able to modify this file and it will modify the output of the Events List widget. To get the event’s featured image, for example, you could use the the_post_thumbnail() WordPress function to display the image if it exists. Learn more about this function here β https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/the_post_thumbnail
And you can learn more about customizing the views of Events Calendar here in our official Themer’s Guide β https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/themers-guide/
Cheers!

ParticipantHey Peter,
Your original question has a solid answer here, and this thread’s been stagnant for a bit, so just to keep things organized I’m going to go ahead and close up this ticket. If you have any other questions or concerns, however, don’t hesitate to come back here and open a new forum topic β we’ll help you out right away.
Best of luck with your project!

ParticipantHey Bob, I’m just doing some pre-holiday reviews here of tickets and I noticed this one’s been sitting here for a while β no worries, just wanted to follow up!
Did my answer above help you out here? Do you have any other questions or concerns on this topic here? If you’re all set, I’ll go ahead and close up this ticket to keep things organized.
Cheers,
GeorgeGeorge
ParticipantHey Varga,
Thanks for elaborating on some of these details. However, I’m still curious about exactly what you mean when you describe having to “disable rewrites”, then “re-auto-generating” and “re-enabling” them.
Can you specify what exact things you’re doing in each of these steps? I’m just trying to fully understand what you’re doing to the rewrite rules on your site, and why, and how β I can’t think of anything else as likely to cause these issues as rewrite rule issues, and since you mention manipulating them (even if they’re auto-generated and you’re just deleting / re-adding stuff) I’m curious about more information here. Thanks for any detail you can provide about what exactly you’re doing with your site’s rewrite rules.
Oh, and one last thing for now β you mentioned that the only active plugins on your site are “TEC, TECP, and ER”. Just to be clear, what plugin do you mean by “ER”?
Thanks!

ParticipantHello,
I’m sorry for the delayed response here, I hadn’t even noticed that this thread was updated since Martin hadn’t replied. I’m very, very sorry about that. This is one of several reasons we always recommend users start their own threads, but regardless of stuff like that, I could’ve checked in more recently without a notification that Martin had posted again.
With that being said, all of your input here is appreciated and this is definitely worth investigating if the API IP address limitations are not the culprit.
Since each of these issues could be different, each of you should make your own support threads so we can handle each issue appropriately. In the meantime, I’ll look into any open Maps bugs that we might have noted and planned on fixing for an upcoming release β I don’t know of any off the top of my head.
Martin: do you have any updates on your specific issues here?
Thanks all for your patience,
George -
