    Hi Donald,

Okay, if you want to keep the tribe styles but just extra styles on top of the defaults provided, then:

    • Remove any and all filters or custom PHP code you might have added to your theme’s functions.php file or something, related to the Tribe stylesheet URL or anything like that.

    • Then, just add the custom CSS you would like to the /tribe-events.css file that you’ve created in the /tribe-events folder of your theme.

This file is being loaded fine on your site, it’s just empty: http://sfciviccenter.org/wp-content/themes/theme1389/tribe-events/tribe-events.css

If you have not added any custom PHP code to your site related to Tribe stylehseet URLs, then there is a separate problem here relating to how all those Tribe stylesheets are being loaded on your page. I did not notice this before but see it when I check your site now. This could be because of a plugin or something on your site, however it should not actually cause technical problems – it just slows things down a tiny bit.

But adding the custom CSS you would like to the /tribe-events.css file that you’ve created in the /tribe-events folder of your theme should not be affected by that problem at all. I will investigate that problem to see if I can recreate it and see what I find.

    Thank you,
    George

    Hey Cynthia,

I’ve said it already but I just want to say it one more time: thank you for your continued patience with these issues.

I’m glad that the widget-related ones are resolved now.

As for your other issues, I’m trying to boil down what you wrote to its essence and it seems like the only remaining problem is that your widgets get squished on 404 pages. Is this accurate?

I say that because our templates are indeed different now than before. I do not know what version of the plugins you were running when you sought support and were recommended various template files. They’re likely outdated by now and causing more problems than they solve.

And I summarized your issues as the widgets being squished on 404 pages because, while you described getting 404s on empty dates, this is the default functionality of the plugin. And even with the no-404s plugin, it sounds like your sidebar are still getting squished in some views?

If this is not your current problem, can you summarize what they are?

    Thank you!

    PS
You mention that Google Analytics is listing these no-event pages as 404s, and while this is frustrating to see in your Analytics dashboards, I just want to point out that no actual harm is being done by this and you will not be penalized by Google for having those links be 404s.

    Hey Mary,

I’m really sorry if you feel like my probing here implies that I (or we at Tribe collectively) don’t see the value of PDF tickets. That is certainly not the case!

We started out with PDF tickets and take your feedback very seriously. To be clear: my questions above are aimed at trying to get to the root of what PDFs provide for you that the HTML emails do not.

I’m curious because bringing PDF tickets back as an option has been discussed a healthy amount in our development meetings in recent months. It may indeed come back into our products.

However, even if they do return, it will be a while before that’s publicly released.

So I’m trying to figure out how we can make the HTML email tickets work for you as best as possible in the meantime.

If the tone of my questions above was hard to decipher before, hopefully you can trust me that it’s an honest miscommunication and that we are genuinely curious about your answers to these questions → http://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/customizing-the-html-ticket-that-gets-sent-to-the-purchaser-2/#post-976274

There could be something simple we can recommend to help minimize the bad parts of HTML tickets in your use case, perhaps some HTML to more “cleanly” separate the tickets in HTML? Or styling things to make them look more like paper/cut-outable tickets?

Just some ideas. Your feedback is appreciated, though if you’d rather close out this thread for now and just use the HTML tickets as-is, we can do that too.

Let me know what you think and if you have any other follow-up questions here, concerns, etc.

    Thank you,
    George

    Hi Craig,

I’ll address each item in order:

Calendar date picker for user on front end

Yes – see our demo site at http://wpshindig.com/events/ for a live example. Anything other than this is not out-of-the-box and would require custom coding.

User can pay via PayPal (or similar pay options to Woo Commerce)

Yes – if you buy one of our ticketing add-ons. We have one that integrates with WooCommerce directly, so WooCommerce itself handles the PayPal integration, not events calendar or its ticketing add-ons.

Front end has a description of the course

Yes – “Events” from The Events Calendar are post types within WordPress, meaning they have a full content section where you can write quite a bit about the event. To see it live, I’ll recommend http://wpshindig.com/events/ again – that main page is the “Month” view, which features just an excerpt of the full event descriptions. Change to other event views to see the events content in other views and get a sense of how it looks.

Possibility of booking multiple people on the course in 1 booking (book up to 4 tickets at once for colleagues)

Sort of – You can buy 4 tickets at one time with our ticketing add-ons, but only one as one logged-in user with one set of personal information. In other words, Joe can buy 4 tickets at once, keep one for himself then manually hand out the other 3 for Sally, Jarvis, and Kanye. But Joe cannot buy a ticket for each of these people and enter a different name, address, credit card, etc. for each one. He can only buy them as himself. Does this answer your question?

Some courses are a 2 day course that runs over a weekend. But each day is sold as separate, giving the user the option of attending one day and not the other. Plus, there’s a discount for booking a weekend pass. I.E…
    Saturday – £160
    Sunday – £160
    Weekend – £300 (so there’s a £20 discount when booking a weekend pass)

Yes – You’d have to manually create each ticket here – so, you’d create two separate events, one for Saturday and one for Sunday, and then sell the tickets accordingly with the structure you listed here. The “Weekend” pass is something you could set up in a number of ways.

It would also be great if there was a way of adding discount codes. These would be manually created and sent to users prior to booking.

Yes – This is handled by the eCommerce platform your choose to use. So if you buy our WooTickets add-on to sell tickets with WooCommerce, then WooCommerce itself is where you go to generate coupon codes and such.

Lastly I need some form of “stock control”. So I need to limit the number of attendees to 20 (but this can vary from course to course). So it should only allow 20 people to book on the Saturday and 20 on the Sunday.

Yes – Ticket stock is a key feature and you can set the number of tickets for sale for each level of ticket you want. If you want 20 on Saturday and 20 on Sunday, however, you’d just need to create two separate events and set the tickets for each day.

    I hope all this helps!

    Hey there,

We’re working on better features around this, but for the time being, tickets can only be sold for an individual event.

To quote another of our support gurus: Tickets are created in the event editor and only per event, there is no feature to mass create tickets or share ticketing information between events.

People seeking to accomplish what you are have found success by creating a recurrence series e.g. every Saturday of August, to use your example. Then, to sell a ticket that gets the user in for the whole series, they break off the first event in the series (which is a default feature of recurring events, and takes just a click!), and sell tickets on that one event that cover the user for the whole series.

Now, if you need specific Attendees features like check-ins for each event, for example, or the pricing for each Saturday might change or have different seating limits or something, then unfortunately you’d have to create each event as a single event to sell tickets for it individually.

I hope I addressed your concern, please let me know if I did or if you have any other questions on this topic. I’m sorry if the current features aren’t enough for your needs, hopefully within a few months time we’ll have better support for this (we’re working on it! and some other cool tickets-related stuff 🙂 ).

    Cheers,

    Hey there,

If the “before HTML” setting won’t save the data, then it means you should use the “before HTML” filter. It requires a bit of coding, but don’t worry, it’s quite simple. Basically, just drop a little function into your theme’s functions.php file like I demonstrated for your here:

    https://gist.github.com/ggwicz/dc690e738a7472bb9fb3

Ad whatever HTML you need for your adds, and it should work quite well.

Let us know if that helps, cheers!

    Hey Fridolin,

Sorry to hear about your issues here. I’m curious, can you paste the exact [tribe_events_list] shortcodes that you’re using? I just want to see how you’re generating the list – are you just entering a plain [tribe_events_list] shortcode, or are you adding options to it as well?

If there’s a bug here, we’ll get to fixing it immediately. Let us know about what shortcodes you’re using, and also, if possible, can you share a link to where this is happening on your web site?

    Thank you!

    Hello,

Just to totally clear, you mention this above:

    using Version 3.9.2 PRO

Do you mean that you are literally using version 3.9.2 of Events Calendar PRO on your site?

This isn’t necessarily a problem, but 3.9.2 is somewhat outdated, and if you are using a more recent version of The Events Calendar core on your site, the mismatching version numbers could lead to the sorts of issues like you’re describing with the list widget.

So, there are two things I’d recommend looking into here:

    1. First, if you simply drag a “real” List Widget to a sidebar in the Appearance > Widgets area of your site, does that instance of the List Widget work fine? Or does it fail just like when you try to call it via shortcode?

    2. If possible, can you try ensuring that both The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO are updated to 3.10.1 on your site? You can get the PRO files at http://theeventscalendar.com/my-account/downloads, and the Core files at http://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar

    Thank you!

    Hey Tess,

Thanks for reaching out – your language indeed makes sense 🙂 and yes, in general events made The Events Calendar will be “shareable” to apps on your phone.

Now, I say “in general” because there are really only two export buttons provided: Google Calendar, and the iCal export. Here’s a screenshot of these two buttons, for an idea of what they look like: https://cloudup.com/cPJGtuXqVbJ.

So, every calendar app under the sun might not be supported, but these two calendar services are. This is because they’re the main ones these days (Outlook is huge, too, but not specifically supported by The Events Calendar at this time), and because Outlook and other apps are harder to send event data too.

For a direct example, I strongly encourage you to check out our demo site http://wpshindig.com on your smart phone. Check out this event, for example, and try using the Google Calendar and/or iCal links just for testing purposes → http://wpshindig.com/event/wordpress-topanga-meetup/2015-07-16/

I hope this all helps – let us know if it does, or if you have any other questions!

    Hi Winston,

I’m sorry to hear about this issue, odd indeed. Can you clarify each of the points below? They’re as follows:

    1. When did this problem start appearing? Did you just wake up today, and boom, white screen? Or was it working fine, and then you updated a plugin on your site, or your theme, or WordPress core, or migrated your site, or any action at all really, and then the white screen appeared?

    2. Do you have many events? Or only a few?

    3. If you go to Events > Settings in your admin area, is the “default” calendar view the Month view? If so, does changing this default to something like List view, then saving the changes and going back to the /events/ page yield a different outcome?

    4. If number 3 above does not help, does it help if you go to Settings > Permalinks in your admin area, and just click “Save Changes” without actually making any changes? This may seem like an odd thing to do but is a little “trick” within WordPress to get the permalinks across your site to refresh, which might help here.

Thank you in advance for addressing each item here Winston, it’ll give us a great foundation for further troubleshooting as we dig to the bottom of this weird behavior on your site.

    Thank you!

    Hi Birgit,

I’m sorry to disappoint you but unfortunately Events Calendar and its add-ons are not fully compatible with WPML. Please see this Knowledgebase article which outlines the issues → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/can-your-products-be-used-on-multi-lingual-sites/.

Please let me know if you any follow-up questions or if there’s anything we can do to minimize the disappointment here. I’m sorry about the incompatibility, but please know that we’re working hard on some code fixes over the next view releases of the plugins to improve compatibility.

    Thank you,

    Hey Roselle,

We unfortunately cannot offer support for customizations or snippets 🙁

However, I’ll happily offer some general advice before just closing the thread outright!

First, single-event.php will almost certainly not be the source of these problems you’re facing, nor the solution. The problem seems to be with the timespans your events view queries are generating themselves.

Next, to try and isolate the source of the problem, make good, complete backup of all your customizations, and then try removing your custom “Agenda” view.

After you remove the Agenda view, do the other default views work correctly? If these “out-of-the-box” views work correctly, then we can be sure that this problem is stemming from your custom Agenda view code directly.

So – do this test, and if you want to, you can share your complete Agenda related code by coping the related functions and stuff that you’ve made into separate Gists at http://gist.github.com. Then, link to each Gist from here and we can take a closer look.

    Cheers,
    George

    Hi Chantal,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re still finding trouble on your site. While we do not log into customer sites or provide phone support, I’m confident we can narrow down the source of your issues and build from there to resolve things.

Okay, so the first thing to note is that we unfortunately didn’t hear from you on the ticket with Brian above (this one: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/eventbrite-tickets-no-longer-showing-on-website/#post-969190).

    1. The Support Droid auto-closed it after 2 weeks of inactivity, so, to start, can you clarify exactly where you left off in the process of that thread? Did you confirm http:// throughout the URLs of your eventbrite admin URLs like Brian last mentioned?

    2. What version of Eventbrite is currently active on your site?

    3. What version of The Events Calendar is currently active on your site?

Your patience with these issues means a lot, and we appreciate it – Eventbrite has released several API changes in recent months and weeks which we’ve been trying very hard to stay on top of, and have been publishing releases frequently to try and catch up to.

If you address each of the three points I listed above, it’ll be a great place to start and we can continue troubleshooting from there.

    Thank you!

in reply to: Json-LD schema info not being pulled into google #984666
    George

    Hey Brandi,

Excuse my ignorance/mis-understanding here, but would you mind clarifying each of the following things just so I’m 100% on the same page as you are here?

    1. I did a search for “{town name} events” – Where did you do this search?

2.the events section at the top that pulls in info using schema to display events for the local area – Can you specify what section this is? Take a screenshot of it if possible, even, just so we know exactly what you’re talking about.

    3. I ran the schema i could find for a specific event through a json schema checker and it came back with an error because the whole schema was wrapped in brackets [ ] – This almost certainly means the json stored in the “tribe-json” attribute for events when they’re listed in the Month view. If that’s the case, the json is not invalid. It is written/structured in that case in an HTML attribute and being used to generate the events after page load in the Month view.

Hopefully we can start by clarifying all the terms here, then offer some more specific help/advice 🙂

    Thank you!
    George
