MemberThanks Daniela! I really appreciate you setting that up!
Where is the advertisement coming from? That seems to be hijacking the layout. Are you able to disable it so we can test the filters without the ad?
Cheers!

MemberAwesome job so far! Thanks so much for going through the first two tries. 🙂
Let’s keep the cleanup plugin going. It can take up to several tries, especially when dealing with this many events. It’s working even though you get the timeout. It’s a pain, for sure, but persevere a little longer because it will take a while and may need to be restarted quite a few times with so many events.
If you feel the time that the cleanup plugin takes will outweigh recreating event data after wiping things clear with Event Rocket, then you may want to make a judgement call there. If you do go that route, I’d strongly suggest backing up your database just in case you need to restore the data.

MemberAwesome work, Andrew! Thanks so much for confirming not just the answer, but providing the actual solution as well. This will be super helpful for others who might bump into a similar situation.
I’m going to go ahead and close this thread, but please feel free to hit us up with a new thread if any other questions pop up. We’d be happy to help. 🙂

MemberHi there, Andrew! Thanks for getting in touch.
Great question. Yes, the Event Rocket plugin is certainly an option there for inserting the calendar with a simple shortcode, but it will lack the details you mentioned. Awesome work doing your homework. 🙂
You can run a query for events posts in a couple of different ways:
- <span style=”line-height: 13px;”>Use the tribe_get_events() function. This grabs all events and accepts an array parameters to order and filter the posts. It is actually built off the default WordPress get_posts() function, which is your second option.</span>
- Use the WordPress get_posts() function. This grabs all posts, but you can specify the “post_type” as “tribe_events” since events are a custom post type.
I’d also recommend heading over to our Themer’s Guide to see all the options available to you for customizing calendar templates and styles using overrides. You can also check out our documentation for a complete list of all the functions and classes available to you.
Does this help answer your question? Please let me know. 🙂
Cheers!

MemberThanks, Daniela! Are you able to follow the steps I provided to create a fresh install in a new directory of that site with nothing but the WordPress default theme and Modern Tribe plugins installed? I want to see if we can replicate the issue on a clean slate.
Thanks!

MemberHi there, Nicholas! Sorry you’re running into some trouble here but let’s see if we can tackle it here together. 🙂
As a first step, are you able to install the latest versions of both The Events Calendar and The Events Calendar Pro (3.8.1)? There have been some updates to recurring events since 3.7 that could help clean this up.
Next, let’s try cleaning up those duplicated events. It sounds like they’re getting in the way of one another and trying to claim the same slug. Will you please try installing and running the cleanup plugin that is linked in this post? It specifically targets duplicated recurring events.
A last resort would be to clean the events data altogether. There’s a third-party plugin called Event Rocket (not supported by us) that does just that. It’s a nuclear option though, so let’s give the first steps a go and see where that gets us.
Cheers!

MemberThanks for your cooperation so far! I know this stuff can be a frustrating and you’ve been a rock star so far. 🙂
Since I’ve been unable to replicate the issue myself, the next thing I would like to try here is creating a fresh test site–this will avoid any disruption to your live site and ensure that we’ve effectively got a “clean canvas” to work with.
- Please install a fresh copy of WordPress in a subdirectory (if you have a CPanel-type hosting account there will probably be a one-click install script to make this really easy)
- Don’t install anything except The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO [edit list of plugins to suit]
- Please also stick to a default theme – again, there’s no need to install anything else just yet!
- Create a few events so we have some test data to work with
- Can you replicate the same problem?
If you find you can replicate the problem under these conditions it would be awesome if you could stop and let us know so we can take a look while the site is still running under default conditions.
Thanks for your help!

MemberHi there Roy and welcome to the forums!
Are you installing the plugin via WordPress or using FTP? It would be great if you could also outline the steps you are using to install the plugin after you’ve downloaded it. Here is more information on how to install the plugin manually.
Error messages like this can sometimes pop for a couple of reasons:
- <span style=”line-height: 13px;”>The version numbers are out of sync. If you are installing version 3.8.1 of PRO, then make sure version 3.8.1 of the free version is also installed and activated.</span>
- An earlier version of the same plugin is already installed and activated. If an earlier version of PRO is already installed, make sure it is deactivated (and/or completely uninstalled) before manually installing it.
Does that make sense? Will that work for you? Please let me know. 🙂
Cheers!

MemberHi there Ben, welcome back to the forums! Sorry you’re running into an issue here, but let’s see if we can figure it out together. 🙂
I definitely see what you mean when I look at this recurring series.
The first event properly links here:
http://www.welovebrighton.com/event/brighton-walking-tour/2014-09-19/…but then redirects here:
http://www.welovebrighton.com/event/brighton-walking-tour/2014-09-26/As a first step, let’s try updating your Modern Tribe plugins to the latest versions to see if that has any effect on the issue. You can read about the latest release here.
Second, let’s try cleaning any events that have possibly been duplicated. I see you’ve had an issue with duplicated recurring events in the past, so I wonder if this is an extension of that issue. Will you please install and run the cleanup plugin that’s linked in this post?
As a third step, let’s try testing for conflicts with your theme and other plugins. Follow the steps outlined here to see if we can isolate the issue to the theme or any one plugin.
Let’s give those a shot and see what we find.
Cheers!
