in reply to: Duplicate Event Button in PRO? #867168

Hi there, Steven! Thanks for getting in touch. πŸ™‚

Good question. Duplicating events isn’t a feature currently supported in the PRO plugin, however, there are a couple of ways you can may be able to get around this:

    • <span style=”line-height: 13px;”>Use recurring events. PRO does support recurring events. This would allow you to set up multiple events at one time, then edit them individually to “break” them out of the recurring series. This isn’t exactly like duplicating a post, but it one possible way if you are trying to create many events at once.</span>
    • Use a plugin. There are plugins available that add a “clone” option to WordPress posts. The thing to look for is whether the plugin also supports custom post types, like Events. Here’s a quick search to get you started.

Does this help answer your question? Please let me know. πŸ™‚

Hi Kevin! Thanks for following up. πŸ™‚

Yes,but I can also add Filter Bar Add on to The Events Calender (Free One) right?

Yes, this is correct. PRO is not required to use Filter Bar. In other words, Filter Bar will integrate with the free version of the The Events Calendar plugin.

Can’t I add those categories in the place where we can see List, Month, Week on the right of the search bar?? Is there any option to do that?

Yes, this is possible but requires adding the category link manually in the main menu the way I described in the previous answer, or by customizing the calendar templates using theme overrides (more on this in our Themer’s Guide). It definitely takes a little customization from what comes out of the box by default. That’s where Filter Bar would benefit you if you prefer to not do the customization.

Does that make sense? Will that work for you? Please let me know. πŸ™‚

Hi there,Β Gareth! Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the forums. πŸ™‚

Yes, this is a confusing one. You’re right that most templates overrides go into a /views subdirectory, butΒ page-default.php is an exception. You will actually place this file directly in the /tribe-events directory you created so it is at the top level, like this:

    /[your-theme]/tribe-events/page-default.php

Sorry for any confusion there, but does this help? Please let me know. πŸ™‚

    Cheers!

Hi there, Clint!Β Sounds like you’re working on an interesting project. There’s a lot packed into this question, so let’s see if we can tackle these points one by one. πŸ™‚

Having The Events Calendar PRO and the Community Events add on will give you the features you noted in your list, with the following exceptions:

    • Coach Name: You can use the “Organizer” feature which allows you to assign an event to a specific person organizing the event and use a filter from our documentation to change the wording to “Coach” instead. As an alternative, PRO also offers additional custom fields as a feature, and you could use that to create a “Coach” field.
    • ics File. Your team will be able to download an .ics file, however it will be for the global calendar rather than just the events members have created. Each person will have their own screen they can access to see all of their events, just not the ability to download them. I’m sure this would be possible but would require customization on your end to make it happen.

Those are the two items you may need to consider first when deciding if this is this is the right solution for you.

Each sales person would login (using front end submission) and enter their call/appointment.

The Community Events add on will do this for you. There is a setting that limits submissions to registered members of your site and prompts them to log in before submitting an event. From there, a front-end form is presented to submit an event to the calendar (screenshot).

They should probably be only be able to see their own their appointments. If not at least be able to filter to their own name.

All events submitted through Community Events go into a global calendar. However, each member also has their own page that displays only the events they have submitted (screenshot).

Their supervisor should only be able to all his teams appointments (probably a country filter?) or drill down to his staffs appointments (sales mans name filter)

Event can be categorized, so one idea might be to make each supervisor a category. Categories have their own URL, which means a supervisor can bookmark the events that are specific to their teams. For example, a category called “John Doe” would look like this: [your-site]/events/category/john-doe. This should cover the Regional Manager needs as well.

Of course because we have many users across many countries there will be many appointments at same day and time.(is that a problem?)

I wouldn’t see this as an issue, except if you are planning to use a Month grid view for your main calendar and want to display all events. Otherwise, displaying multiple events in a single day is certainly doable.

I then want to be able to connect using Tableau to create dashboards.

Honestly, I’m unfamiliar with Tableau and have not used it. You will certainly want to ensure an integration is possible between Tableau and your site if that’s a must-have feature for you.

Does this help answer your questions? Please let me know and thanks for getting in touch. πŸ™‚

Hi there, Lisa! Thanks for getting in touch. πŸ™‚

Great question. Developing a WPEngine-specific plugin is something we’re looking into (and possibly interested in), but isn’t in our release plans yet. Our preferred route is to work directly with the WPE team (which we’re doing) to find possible areas of improvement on both sides to create a more compatible experience all around. As soon as we both gather all the information we need, we’ll have a better idea of what–if anything–needs to change and work from there.

I like the way you’re thinking. If you happen to find any specific solutions that work well for your clients, we’d love to hear about it so we can take them into consideration.

Sorry I don’t have more of a concrete answer for you, but does this help answer your question? Please let me know. πŸ™‚

Hi there, Paolo! Thanks for sharing this–super helpful. πŸ™‚

An alternative way to remove the Modern Tribe news widget from the WordPress dashboard is to add this line to the wp-config.php file, which is located at the root of your WordPress installation:

    define('TRIBE_HIDE_UPSELL', true);

I hope this helps and thanks again for sharing.Β I’m going to go ahead and close this thread, but please feel free to hit us up with a new thread if any other solutions or questions pop up. We’d be happy to help. πŸ™‚

Hi there, Nate! Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the forums. We hope you’re enjoying the plugin so far. πŸ™‚

Great question. You can hide the date filter from the search bar by adding this to your theme’s CSS file:

    .tribe-bar-date-filter {Β display: none;Β }

You can find more information on overriding the plugin’s CSS in our Themer’s Guide:
    https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation/events-calendar-themers-guide/#customizingstyles

Does that make sense? Will that work for you? Please let me know. πŸ™‚

Hi there, Kevin! Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the forums. πŸ™‚

Great question. Filtering options are possible, but require our Filter Bar add on. You might be interested in checking that out because it adds the following filtering options:

    • Categories
    • Tags
    • Distance
    • Venues
    • Organizers
    • Price
    • Day
    • Time

An alternative is to link to each of your categories manually. Every category has its own URL, which can be added to your site’s menu. For example, a category called “Concert” would have the URL: [your-site]/events/category/concert.

Does this help answer your question? Please let me know. πŸ™‚

Great Β question. A visitor must be a registered member of your site in order to edit a submitted event. Otherwise, there is no reliable way to associate a post with a specific visitor.
