Editing published community events

Hello, my client requires that submitters be able to edit their own events that they have previously submitted using the Front End Event form. How does editing existing events work?

Sorry if this has been answered. I searched and didn’t find any relevant information.

Hi there, Sara! Thanks for getting in touch and welcome back to the forums. 🙂

Great question. The Community add on can definitely allow visitors to edit their event submissions.

The first thing is to make sure that this setting is enabled. Head over to Events > Settings > Community. There is an option under “Members” to “Edit their submissions.” Check that box and save your settings to enable it.

With that activated, visitors will be able to visit the Community landing page (e.g. [your-site]/events/community) and click the “My Events” button at the very top. From there, they will see a list of all their submissions and be able to edit each one individually.

Thanks for the reply! Does the user have to be a registered user on the site to see My Events? Currently, visitors don’t have to register to submit events.

Great  question. A visitor must be a registered member of your site in order to edit a submitted event. Otherwise, there is no reliable way to associate a post with a specific visitor.
