ParticipantGraeme,
You should be able to allow users to edit their submitted events by going to this URL after logging in: http://sheffieldkids.co.uk/sheffield-events/community/list Would you mind temporarily changing my user account to an admin so I can review your Community Settings? Thanks!-Casey-

ParticipantGraeme,
It looks like you should just be able to disable the ‘Admin bar’ for subscribers, since they shouldn’t need to view the back-end of the site anyways. Correct? If that’s the case, then you should be able to disable the ‘Admin bar’ for non-admins using the Community add-on. I would also suggest Blocking access to the WordPress dashboard for subscribers for security reasons. You can do this by going to ‘Events-Settings->Community’ and changing the options at the bottom of the page (screenshot).
Give that a try and let me know if it does the trick. Thanks! 🙂

ParticipantOk, I was able to login and deactivate all of your other plugins and reset your permalinks by going to ‘Settings->Permalinks’ and clicking save. I’m now able to see the single event using the following URL: http://criticalshadows.com/event-tickets/live-concert-event/
So, it appears that another plugin is conflicting with the Events Calendar permalinks. I would suggest reactivating your plugins one-by-one to try and determine which plugin is causing issues.
I hope that helps to point you in the right direction. Thanks! 🙂

ParticipantGraeme,
I’m sorry I wasn’t clearer, but the ‘Admin’ bar is the black WordPress bar that appears at the top of the site if you’re logged in (screenshot). Could you send me a private reply with a login (subscriber level is fine) to your site, so I can look closer? Thanks!-Casey-

Participantoliver,
Do you have a translation file for The Events Calendar? Make sure you’re using the correct textdomain for each string that you’re translating. Look in the ‘views’ folder and you’ll see the textdomain that they’re using. Some are using ‘tribe-events-community’ and some are using ‘tribe-events-calendar,’ since some of those strings are also used in the Admin Dashboard, so doublecheck to make sure that you’re using the correct ones. Thanks!

Participantgian,
All of those options should be included as translatable items in the ‘tribe-events-calendar’ text domain. Try adding those items to your Events Calendar translation file and see if that does the trick. Thanks! 🙂-Casey-

ParticipantGraeme,
Your ‘subscriber’ users shouldn’t even see the admin bar at the top. What user role are you logged in as when you’re seeing this?February 4, 2014 at 2:18 pm in reply to: Custom role cannot edit Venues or Organizers without edit_posts #100736Casey
Participantintegrity,
Sorry, I didn’t reply sooner! I must have missed your reply somehow. What theme are you using on your fresh WordPress install? That’s the only other thing I could think that might be interfering with your roles.Casey
ParticipantGraeme,
Thanks for getting in touch! Hopefully I can clear things up here. I’m assuming you’re talking about the options in the black ‘Admin Bar’ at the top? If so, then option #2 actually links to the back-end admin dashboard to add an event, whereas option #4 links to the front-end Event Submission form, where users can submit events. Let me know if that helps to clear things up a bit. Thanks! 🙂-Casey-

Participantgian,
Sorry to hear you’re having problems, but hopefully I can help! Can you send me a screenshot of the strings that aren’t currently being translated? Some of the strings are actually located in the ‘tribe-events-calendar’ textdomain, so make sure those values are also present in the Events Calendar translation file. Thanks! 🙂-Casey-

ParticipantOliver,
If you take a look at the ‘views’ folder in the Community plugin directory, you’ll see which textdomain those labels are using. Since these labels are also used in The Events Calendar, they’re using the ‘tribe-events-calendar’ textdomain. Try using that and see if it fixes the issue. Thanks! 🙂-Casey-
