</rss>As you can see that content only appears once, on the bottom event where it seems it should appear. If you are seeing it multiple times perhaps your RSS readers has a glitch? But there does not appear to be anything actualyl wrong with the feed/calendar, which is hopefully good news. At least no one else should be seeing duplicate content. If you try a different reader or viewing the feed directly, do you see duplicates?
Cheers!

ParticipantJust wanted to update you this will likely be included in version 4.2.3 of our plugin, which is due out in about a couple of weeks. Something could change between now and then, but as of right now that’s the plan.
Cheers!

ParticipantHowdy Austin,
I would love to help you with this.
Typically our performance audits are focused on the front-end views. I took the past couple hours to dive in to the backend queries to see if anything could be done, and I did find three areas ripe for optimization.
Actually in your screenshot you are showing two of the areas I found.
1) In this file: /the-events-calendar/src/Tribe/Admin_List.php I believe line 371 is unnecessary. It looks like this:
$query .= " LEFT JOIN {$wpdb->postmeta} as eventStart ON( {$wpdb->posts}.ID = eventStart.post_id AND eventStart.meta_key = '_EventStartDate') ";For now I have just straight up removed that line from the plugin, and am testing it out to see how it works. I believe the only reason it was inserted is because the original dev copy/pasted that line from elsewhere, and did not finish removing the unnecessary bits. Doing this might shave up to a half second from your load time.
2) The main query that takes 1.8 seconds can be optimized too. In typical scenarios we could remove one of those JOINs, in an exotic scenario we could remove both. This will shave some off of your loading time, maybe a full second.
Those are some substantial improvements. Usually when we do audits there is very little to optimize, partly because we do them so regularly. But like I said, the Admin area is not usually our focus.
I appreciate your bringing this to my attention. All three things I found are now logged as separate bugs. We will get back to you one of the two above ones are fixed. The third one does not appear to impact your site (it’s pretty rare it would hit any site). It is likely they will be fixed separately, so we might end up responding twice here. In the mean time let me know if you have any questions.
Cheers!

July 8, 2016 at 9:41 am in reply to: Events Calendar 4.2.2 stops posts from being displayed in VC Post Grid #1137364Brook
ParticipantHowdy Claghorn,
It’s nice to see ya again. Thanks for reporting the change.
To be honest I don’t even know what VC Post Grid, and Google is not being much help. It’s not a plugin we officially support. But that’s not to say we would not consider supporting it at some point in the future. Do you have any links to this? Did it come with a theme of yours?
Cheers!

ParticipantI do too! I have been saying RSS needs a replacement for a long time now. It is very ill suited to events. Thanks for the idea.
It’s been my pleasure Haime. Let us know if you ever need anything else.

ParticipantAhh yes, I should have thought to mention that. I am happy that will work for now! Is there anything missing/any reason you would prefer to use the old emails if they were available? We are working on improving these emails so feedback is very much appreciated.
Cheers!

ParticipantI just can’t believe slug behavior isn’t configurable other than a single path segment!
You will find this is pretty common with WordPress plugins, and there is good reason why. Trying anything more complicated is prone to breakage and conflicts within the WordPress ecosystem. Making this configurable is likely never going to happen just due to the nature of the beast. I wish I had better news here.
I am hopeful. My end users probably don’t care one way or the other and are perfectly fine sharing a /event/event-name-3985 link, but I do care. It looks bad, and having the event date in the url is a nice visual clue that you’re looking at the right thing prior to actually clicking on it.
What if you manually edited the individual event slugs. Instead of /event/example-2 you could set the event to /event/example-2016-07-08 . Would that work?
Cheers!

Brook
ParticipantHmm, weird. So you have events in October of this year already? Did you manually insert all of those events, or import them somehow like via CSV?
We have seen a few users here and there reporting that the paging links are not showing even when there are events in a future month. I have been trying to isolate the cause of that. So far it’s a problem we have not been able to reproduce/find a fix for.
Thanks for getting back Lynn. I am happy that snippet works for now.
Cheers!

July 8, 2016 at 8:45 am in reply to: fatal error: Class 'Tribe__Tickets_Plus__Commerce__WooCommerce__Main' not found #1137251Brook
ParticipantVery good, I am glad we got that corrupt update fixed for you.
I see you do have a valid Pro license, but it is registered to “localhost”. That’s no worries, we explicitly allow dev/staging servers to not need a license ( Using one license for your live and dev sites ) . But if I were you I would deactivate the localhost license and instead activate the license on your main site, that way your main site will get automatic updates: Tutorial: transferring your license keys
If you follow those steps your live website should now allow you to upgrade Pro to the latest version, and once upgraded the error will go away. On your dev site anytime you need to test out an update I would recommend doing a manual update like you just did.
Does that sound like a plan?
Cheers!

ParticipantCould you please let me know when you hear back from Modern Tribe with what they recommend?
I just got a fresh copy of Avada to investigate the tribe_is_week() issue he is referring to. What I would do is replace their current function:
function is_events_archive() { if ( class_exists( 'Tribe__Events__Main' ) ) { return ( tribe_is_month() || tribe_is_day() || tribe_is_past() || tribe_is_upcoming() || ( class_exists( 'Tribe__Events__Pro__Main' ) && ( tribe_is_week() || tribe_is_photo() || tribe_is_map() ) ) ); } return false; }With this slightly simpler one:
function is_events_archive() { if ( function_exists( 'tribe_is_event' ) ) { return ( tribe_is_event() && is_archive() ); } return false; }It does the same thing, supports all our current archive views and should work with future ones as well! Best of all it won’t generate errors.
Thank you for playing the go-between for our support teams. Sorry to get you involved here. Their team should have access to our support forums for questions. And I know some members from both parties have talked on Skype and such before. But it is quite likely that not everyone on their support staff has our contact info, and I know I don’t have their contact info. 🙂
The error message mentioned above does not show up any longer. It showed up yesterday morning when we first were informed about the error by one of our clients.
When we now activate the events calendar plugin and the events calendar pro plugin, the only thing that changes is that the content on our homepage is crushed.
I really appreciate the screenshot. That is very strange. In order to find a fix for this I will need to be able to inspect the problem with my browser. I know it’s a pain, but could you leave the plugins active for the rest of today so that I can inspect it and get back to you. I’ll need to inspect it in my browser to find a fix. I will be online for another 6 hours. So I will do my best to checkin before the end of the day and find a fix. Or if that does not work, maybe we could do it the start of next week?
Cheers!

ParticipantThat makes sense Cristoph. If I were in your shoes I would definitely consider using the venues to accomplish that. You could use the address field, or even the title of the venue itself to distinguish between the various views. Another option that might be even better is to use Categories. The reason I say it might be better is because categories have their own separate views: http://wpshindig.com/events/category/tech-meetups/week/ So it would be easy to view by month or week when a given room is full.
It is true our plugin is not ideally suited for resource management. We sometimes toss around the idea of trying to use it to manage some of our own resources, that way we can make it better suited to such needs. But right now it is more focused on ticketing.
Cheers!

ParticipantHowdy again Juan,
I am sorry I do not have a fix for that. Right now our Meta API is still pretty young, and it does not surprise me that modifications to it will break often. We have ticketed a much better method for pulling data out of it in the future, one that would be unlikely to break. But until then it is going to be a bit premature for us to be writing lots of modifications for it.
Perhaps the original author can help? Another option would be to suggest as a feature “Including Attendee Meta in WooCommerce Emails”.
I wish I had better news here. Let me know if you have any more questions. 🙁

ParticipantHowdy André,
I would love to help you with this.
How can I remove “show all categories” toggle link and show all categories by default?
Inserting a simpel snippet into your theme’s functions.php should be enough. Paste the following snippet at the top of your theme’s functions.php file. Replace the opening “<?php” with this snippet, as this snippet includes that opening tag.
https://gist.github.com/elimn/777134d0b40a868225e81cc9745f87a5
How can I translate the uploader (“choose file”, “no file chosen” and so on)?
Those bits of text are not actually generated by the website, they come from your web browser. It looks to me like you are using Google Chrome. In order to change which language that text appears in you must change the language for your entire computer. You will not have any control over which language these appear to others. They will simply appear in whatever language that persons computer is set to use.
Does that answer your questions? Did that work as you expected?
Cheers!

Brook
ParticipantHowdy Lynn,
It sounds like this tutorial is exactly what you’re looking for: Add Next/Previous links to empty months
As it notes:
By default, the month to month navigation links on your calendar will not be shown if there are no additional events to display. This means the next and previous month links on the calendar will only display if there are events in the future or in the past to be displayed.
But it provides a workaround if you wish to always displays those links, even when they are useless and can cause search engines to crawl huge chunks of your site that contain no content.
Does that all make sense and answer your question? Please let me know.
Cheers!

ParticipantHowdy Jameson,
I would love to help you with this.
Would you mind grabbing your system information and pasting it here? Make sure to use the ‘Set as private reply’ checkbox to protect your private information from the public. You can find the system info by going to WP Admin > Events > Settings, clicking on the “Help” tab, and scrolling down to the ‘System Information’ box. (Or by going to [yoursite]/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=tribe_events&page=tribe-events-calendar&tab=help) The main thing I want from this is a link to your website so I can see if I can replicate the problem, and thus look in the error console as it instructs.
Cheers!
