Chris
GuestHello there,
I am managing the events of several cultural institutions and I am looking for an online solution which covers the following features:
– Manage different rooms at those locations (e.g. Lobby, Conference Room, Lecture Hall)
– Allow co-workers password protected access to enter own events and check the event scheduleAre those features available in your plugin or would it be possible to customize them into it?
Thank you for your time!

ParticipantHowdy Chris,
I would love to help you clarify this.
Manage different rooms at those locations (e.g. Lobby, Conference Room, Lecture Hall)
It sort of depends on what you need to manage. If you are planning to use the RSVP or ticket sales aspects, you can sell tickets/book RSVPs for each location separately. Is that what you were thinking, or did you have a more in-depth type of management you were hoping for?
– Allow co-workers password protected access to enter own events and check the event schedule
That is totally possible. Individual events can be given a password by default.
Or, if all of you events are private you could just password protect the entire calendar. This willl require a slight modification but is totally possible to do.
Does that all make sense? Will that work for you? Please let me know.
Cheers!

GuestHi Brook,
thank you for your swift reply! I understand that The Events Calendar focuses on the whole ticket aspect of event planning. Maybe what I am looking for is simpler: Basically I need an online calendar where I can enter all events that take place at different museums and within these museums at specific rooms. So that every employee of the museums can login and see what’s going on and where might be a room available for another event. This is probably something more towards a resource management platform, but I wonder if The Events Calendar with it’s many features can used in the certain way I want to use it. I see in your showcase list many examples of customisations, so I hope it’s somehow possible to make the beautifully designed plugin usable for me, too. For example the address field of the locations: couldn’t I use that to enter the name of the room instead (because every employee of the museums knows their addresses anyways)?
Thanks again.

ParticipantThat makes sense Cristoph. If I were in your shoes I would definitely consider using the venues to accomplish that. You could use the address field, or even the title of the venue itself to distinguish between the various views. Another option that might be even better is to use Categories. The reason I say it might be better is because categories have their own separate views: http://wpshindig.com/events/category/tech-meetups/week/ So it would be easy to view by month or week when a given room is full.
It is true our plugin is not ideally suited for resource management. We sometimes toss around the idea of trying to use it to manage some of our own resources, that way we can make it better suited to such needs. But right now it is more focused on ticketing.
Cheers!
