OK, that’s great to hear. I’ll go ahead and close this thread in that case as it sounds like you’ve got things under control right now. If you need to create a new thread in the future of course please go right ahead.

    Thanks!

Apologies Stéphane – I didn’t actually think to test that. Can you try this modified version instead?

The only other complication is that switching to week, day, photo view etc when the visitor is already viewing a list of events for a particular category basically takes them straight back to the same page – there are different ways one might deal with that, such as making the views link to non-category versions of the view or perhaps removing them from the list of available selections – but since there are different approaches you might follow there we’ll leave that side of things to you 🙂

    Hope that helps!

If you mean the event list in the sense of the upcoming events view on the front end then yes, we do have an option available that hides all but the first event from that view.

In the context of the list of events that displays in the admin environment, however, they will be listed as if they were distinct events. Does that clarify things?

Sure – just let us know (and do try out 3.2 which packed in a load of fixes that may help here).

    * all recurring events in that same series, that is.

That’s unfortunate, you have our sympathies as unexpected work such as this is never desirable.

If you view your list of events though, in the admin environment, and click the checkbox of one recurring event then all recurring events will be checked – you can therefore trash all of the different chains quite easily.

You’re absolutely right that editing a recurring event and hitting apply to all can break the chain into different strands – the best thing therefore is to edit the first event in the series and then apply to all (that way, the chain doesn’t lose its integrity).

    Does that help at all?

Not too sure as to what you are attempting here Adam but it does rather sound like you are interested in further customization of the plugin. Bearing in mind we can’t offer too much help when it comes to that sort of thing if you do have any further and more specific questions definitely feel free to post them.

    Thanks!

It looks like a Javascript error is cropping up. This may not be the cause of the problem but it is worth trying to iron that out first of all.

I do also appreciate you taking the time to try deactivating all other plugins: can you repeat this process and at the same time switch to a default, unmodified theme – does that impact on the problem at all?

Sorry tmbond but it’s very difficult to help if we can’t see your site (as every theme has a different structure and set of CSS rules that may determine the best and most suitable solution).

Can you post a URL so we can see the site and get a sense of what’s already in place?

And you have definitely enabled the include events in main blog loop setting? If so what I’d recommend is waiting until the next maintenance release – due in the next week or so – arrives, as it incorporates a number of fixes relating to that very setting.

    Hi Christine,

Although I’m unable to replicate what you’ve described there is a very good chance that this will be resolved as of the next maintenance release – which is due to arrive shortly – as it makes a number of changes that may help to catch unusual edge cases with regards to updating recurring events.

If you can hold tight until that release arrives – it ought to be sometime over the course of the next week – that would be fantastic.

    Hi simplicityltd,

Unfortunately you cannot assign separate locations to different events in a series of recurring events, so I don’t think you’ll be able to do what you want here other perhaps than by manually creating the events and customizing them to suit (you might even find a post duplicator plugin that reduces the amount of effort involved in something like this).

If you feel there is no way you can proceed with things as they are, though, I would invite you to contact us by email with a copy of your PayPal receipt. Please also link to this thread so the team see the context of your request. The email address to use is:

    Hi elementalhealing,

These are rendered in the modules/bar.php view – which you could override and customize if you liked. The line of code in question is:

    <?php echo $filter['html'] ?>

What you might do there is some string manipulation, possibly using a regular expression, to remove the placeholder attribute.

    Hi Bill,

W3TC is a complex plugin and just one of a number of popular caching solutions so I’m afraid we’re not really the right people to guide you on this one. What I can say, based on feedback from other customers, is that minification of our scripts by W3TC can lead to errors: so that’s one bear trap to look out for.

Of course W3TC can do other things besides minification but so much depends on your own set up (how frequently events are updated, what other features are living on your event pages) that it’s impossible to provide one-size-fits-all advice, unfortunately.

Getting familiar and experimenting with W3TC, plus reading up on some of the key concepts that lie behind it, is probably the best way forward here.

    Thanks!

    Hi Oliver,

Sounds like you arrived at a solution which is great.

I’d point out though that tribe_get_custom_field() – which does indeed return a string – is a different function from tribe_get_custom_fields() (note the final s in the function name) – which is what you are using in your above example and is correctly documented as returning an array.

Since it sounds like you’re all set in any case I’ll go ahead and close this thread – of course if there is anything else please don’t hesitate to create new threads as needed.

    Thanks!
