MemberI’m just looking to take this forward as a new setting/option for a future version. I just wanted to put in my two cents that this would be a very helpful option to include
That makes sense and I’ll note it on our issue tracker.
The plugin is undergoing significant changes and I’m not clear if this will still be relevant as of the forthcoming 3.0 release, but in case it is we’ll have a record of your request.
May I ask another question? If so, I’ve just puchased the Facebook Events. I’m able to configure it, but it has not functioned correctly yet because of a known issue where the image is not imported, but the event IS created.
No problem: what I’ll do is move this to the Facebook Events forum so that our support expert for that plugin can assist 🙂

MemberHi Michael, noted!
Are you simply wanting us to take this forward as a possible new setting/option for a future version, or do you need a solution now? If so, are you comfortable with the concept of template overrides?

MemberHi Kyle.
The short story is don’t use it directly unless you’re also going to plumb in all of the other bits and pieces that the calendar widget requires and uses. It’s documented purpose is, “Displays the mini grid calendar table (usually in a widget).” And it does, but it doesn’t do anything else.
If you want to use the calendar widget then the best course of action is to embed the actual widget itself inside a regular widgetized sidebar. By extension, if you don’t have a sidebar in the right place you would need to register a new one.
Trying to do anything else, whether using tribe_calendar_mini_grid() in isolation, trying to embed the widget using a call to the_widget() or some other method, is not currently recommended. We do have a bug logged and once it is addressed it should become possible to make use of the_widget() API function – however work on that bug is still to begin/still pending.
Sorry I can’t offer much else up on this occasion :-/

MemberWell, it should be there!
Have you customized your templates at all – and if so or if you have updated from an earlier version can you try replacing this file (if it exists):
wp-content/themes/{YOUR-THEME}/events/single.phpWith a copy of this one:
wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/views/single.php
That apart, the only other comment I would make at this time is that using default (or “ugly”) permalinks can cause a number of problems. For that reason we always recommend pretty permalinks with a standard /%postname%/ pattern, if at all possible:

MemberThe venue view is still present as of 2.0.10 – can you provide a link to a single event page which has a venue attached to it?
Barry
MemberWill this suggestion be incorporated into 2.1? If so, is there a timeline for when 2.1 might be released?
2.1 is now 3.0 – we expect it to be released sometime soon but I’m afraid I still can’t give a guarantee of exactly when or even quite what features will make the final cut.

MemberA “cheap and cheerful” way of doing this could be to edit the tribe_mini_display_day() function contained in your custom table-mini.php template.
It might need a bit of polish, but replacing it with this version seems to do the trick. You would of course need to replace “Do Not Show” with the actual name of the category you wish to omit.
Barry
MemberNo problem 🙂
Barry
MemberI don’t believe you can do that, currently, at least not without a lot of extra work. This is a known issue and will hopefully be sorted in a future release.
The best strategy for the time being is to register a new sidebar for this use only and embed it that way.
Barry
MemberOK, and are you using the latest versions of our plugins?

MemberOh I see – so all you need is the category to be reflected in a CSS class for the list item containing the event?
The thing is, if I look at a default upcoming events list the events are contained in divs, rather than list items, and there is indeed a CSS class for each container reflecting the category (if one has been assigned, of course).
Perhaps you have customized the list view and have dropped the code that puts this in place?

MemberIf you try switching to a default theme such as Twenty Twelve or Twenty Eleven does the problem persist?
At the same time as switching theme can you also try deactivating all other plugins (except for The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO) and see if that resolves the problem?
If it does, reactivate everything one-by-one until the problem returns and take note of the last component you enabled.

MemberHi Zaid. I’m not familiar with Gantry, could you send it across by email along with any other instructions that would let us replicate this? Our address is [email protected], please mark the email for my attention and include a link to this thread.
Can you also confirm if you have tried adjusting the Default Template setting in Events > Settings > Template?
Barry
MemberNo problem, the credit all belongs to Lee 🙂 I’ll go ahead and close this since you’re all sorted by the sounds of things.
