MemberThomas: one more point, if the information you provided when you opened this thread is correct you are using an out-of-date version of our plugins. If that is true, can you update both The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO to the latest version (2.0.10)?
Barry
MemberI am trying but the update spinner keeps spinning.
Hey again Thomas – I may have completely misunderstood you. Do you mean when you create a new event/update an existing event? And you are seeing the spinner .gif but nothing else happens?
Barry
MemberHi Thomas, per my earlier post that’s a quite different issue and because I don’t want this thread to become even more confused it would be great if you could create a new thread and we’ll deal with that issue there.
Although it’s undesirable it only affects the calendar widget: you can still see the “full page” calendar at this URL http://www.barnegat.net/events/ and it is not affected by the same issue, so you should still be able to go ahead and create a custom recurring event sequence, take a screenshot (of your settings) to share with me and then point me to the missing events in the calendar.
Thanks!

MemberHi Neil. How are you getting on here – did Lee’s advice work out for you?
Barry
MemberThanks for checking in Lee. Jonah’s out today but I’ll go ahead and close this thread since you’re all sorted here. Thanks!
Barry
MemberThanks Lee. Christian: does that provide enough for you to get things going or else do you need any further help here?

MemberI can’t get the month dropdowns to work though, is there a solution to do that?
Not sure I completely understand, but by default the upcoming events list does not include month dropdowns. It shows all upcoming events, in paginated form, from today until the end of time. Or at least until the date of the last event in the database.
is there a way to pass in the cateogry name in some way, I can get it using php tribe_meta_event_cats()
Yes, it works just like a regular WP query. So if you want to include a category you will probably need to include a taxonomy query.
I need to just get the name so that I can assign it as a class and style using a colour. Is that possible.
This plugin by Andy Fragen may not do quite what you want, but you could certainly look at how it’s been put together and it might give you a few ideas:

MemberHey Justin: so I’ll try to take this point by point.
1) Would it allow me to put on there that the seminar meets on Mondays between Feb. 4 – March 4 (for example), without it appearing every day on the calendar?
You could have it appear only on applicable Mondays by using a custom recurrence pattern, it need not appear on every single day between Feb 4 and Mar 4. Is that what you meant?
2) Would it also allow me to restrict selling tickets to the event once the first seminar started? If there’s a four week seminar, I don’t want it to create it as though there were four different seminars that people had to buy tickets for.
WooTickets does not support recurring events so you would anyway be limited to selling tickets for the event “as a whole” – which sounds like it meets your needs perfectly here – and you can also restrict the date range in which tickets may be sold.
The only complication here is that if you do create a recurring event then by default those other instances will display on the calendar and they will all have the same ticket form, which might be confusing for your customers.
For that reason, it may simply be better to avoid the use of recurring events in this scenario.

MemberThanks for helping Marcin out there Lee 🙂 … Marcin – are you all sorted here/do you need any further help?
Barry
MemberAre you all sorted here Selig/need any further help at all?

MemberOK, well let’s leave this open until you can get that customization in place; if it’s a permission denied error it might relate to file permissions rather than being a Headway-specific problem, so also consider seeking support from your web hosting provider or do a search for file permissions to learn about this.
Barry
MemberThomas – OK, it’s a little hard to help out though if I can’t see what you have done or what the actual result is.
Would it be possible for you to set this up in a testing/staging environment and replicate this there, or else to create a sequence of events scheduled far enough in the future (2016 for instance) that it won’t adversely impact on your site?
If you can do that and send a URL and a screenshot of your settings that would be great 🙂
Barry
MemberHi Justin, just for future reference it’s generally better to ask separate questions in separate threads. If you, Thomas and Javier all start posting follow-up questions of your own this thread will quickly become very confusing.
That said, Events Calendar PRO does not in itself offer any selling tools. It does provide recurring event support, however neither our WooTickets or Eventbrite Tickets add-ons currently offer recurring event support.
If all you want to do is sell access to a block of seminars then you should be able to do that with WooTickets and possibly you could also leverage Events Calendar PRO as a tool to list each seminar date on the calendar – but it will not add the capability to sell access to individual events in a sequence.
I hope that makes sense, but if you need further clarification please don’t hesitate to create a new thread either here or in the WooTickets forum 🙂
Barry
MemberI don’t see why not – the final post in the thread you referenced looks at detecting whether the grid or the upcoming events list is being viewed and then loads the appropriate template (each template could load a different sidebar).
I’m not familiar with Headway, though, so I don’t know if it has particular quirks that would make this a challenge or not.
Barry
MemberHi Max. I’d be happy to help. It looks like a problem with the walker that builds your nav menu – although the errors appear to be all over the page that’s a CSS issue and they actually are generated before The Events Calendar’s templates even run.
Can you try:
- Disabling all other plugins except for those made by Modern Tribe
- Reverting to a default theme such as Twenty Eleven or Twenty Twelve
- Check and see if the problem persists? If this solves the problem, please reactivate everything one-by-one until it returns. This will help us to narrow down the problem
Thanks!
