Great that you’ve solved it 🙂

What I can say is that with WordPress and The Events Calendar/Community Events running “out of the box” users don’t normally experience any problems here, so it does sound as if editing your user roles and capabilities was at the root of the problem.

Hi fishmarketing, it’s looking rather like a bug – bear with me while I check if there is a straightforward workaround we might use (or not).

You could certainly consider caching as an option. Take a look at W3 Total Cache and WP Super Cache for starters. If you have any questions or need help you should probably talk directly to the plugin authors or do a little Googling, as it is unfortunately beyond the scope of support for us to guide you through that.

If you’re interested in the beta that’s great – once again please email Rob using the above address and he’ll be happy to help.

Danielle: as per my above reply to Nicole it’s difficult to provide a great deal of advice here. I’m surprised to hear that you are experiencing performance issues with only 100 or so events, however.

Can you share any information about your web hosting package/if you have enabled any sort of caching to help with this?

My understanding is that some performance improvements will be introduced in the next major release (3.0 – the stable release of which is hopefully not going to be much further away than 2 months).

If it helps we may be able to provide a copy of the 3.0 beta code for you to evaluate before that time. Although it isn’t production ready quite yet it might be useful as a means of confirming that the situation will improve in the near future. If that sounds like an option then please do email my colleague Rob (email address: rob at tri dot be), linking to this thread and he’ll take things from there.

Right now though I’m not sure there is a great deal we can do. There is probably room for improvement on our side (and, as above, that is in the works) but you do also need suitable hosting if you are handling a large number of events and the site is in demand.

I can’t find the URL that displays this problem – are you able to share it?

I don’t see why not, but it isn’t a capability that’s baked into the plugin – so you’d need to devise a custom solution for this.

Have you/they tried doing this through the list page? By default this would be found at site.com/events/community/list … in the case of your site it is the URL in the following post.

What we’d like to try first of all – if you guys are up for trying this out – is determining if this is still a problem with our forthcoming 3.0 release.

Though it is still beta code and we don’t recommend using it in production you could definitely get a copy from us and test things out (ideally in a test site/development site initially).

If you’re up for that, please email my colleague Rob (email address: rob at tri.be) and include a link to this thread so that he sees the context of your request for 3.0.

    Thanks!

We’ve seen this a few times before and it’s been a conflict with one or two other event management plugins and, peculiarly, seems to happen when an event lands on the last day of a given month – it then repeats across the following month.

If in your case there are no other event plugins currently activated we should try our standard troubleshooting steps in their entirety:

    • Please ensure that your Modern Tribe plugins are up-to-date and in-synch … for instance if you are using The Events Calendar 2.0.11 you must also use Events Calendar PRO 2.0.11
    • Deactivate all other plugins and change your theme to a default, unmodified one such as Twenty Eleven or Twenty Twelve
    • Now test to see if the problem still exists
    • If the problem has been solved by these steps, start reactivating everything one-at-a-time, testing at each point to see if the issue has returned
    • If the issue does return, take note of whichever plugin (or theme) you reactivated immediately before it started again – it’s likely there is a conflict with this item

    Hi Donna,

Can you give a more specific example of what you want? I’m not 100% sure what area you wish to customize and I don’t quite understand which part of Google Calendar you are referring to.

If you’re able to attach an annotated screenshot that would be super-duper, but if not some step-by-step instructions to lead me to a URL and the specific element you want to change would be great.

    Cheers!

    Hi Mari,

Your site is using a comparatively old version of jQuery (1.4.4) whereas WordPress currently ships with (and The Events Calendar expects) version 1.8.3.

This is often the result of code in themes, but can also be caused by other plugins. Can you take a look at this thread which explains the situation?

Help! Problem Is Definitely My Theme – What Now?

    Thanks!
